And then when i came back i leaned on my couch and noticed black stains on my cushion!! I touched the back of scalp and color from the scalp came on my finger so basically the shampoo after color wasn't done properly and there was still a lot of color left. I was so displeased. I went back. It was raining and really cold that day I still went back, the salon was closed. I wrote them an email next day and they just responded with a sorry on the email and saying they will talk to the girl who shampooed but I think even if they were a teaching salon the main stylist should have checked if the service was done properly, it felt like negligence and rushed service. I was not feeling well that day, and after that I had to wash my hair again at 9 PM on a very cold day, only because they didn't do it properly, i had an early morning flight next day and this totally ruined my mood. I expected them to offer me some refund atleast as service was so dismal.. when I had left 40% tip as well. Nothing like that not even a call from them for apologizing properly when i was an old customer.. This experience left such a bad taste in mouth, the color also stained my nails before my hawaii trip. I'm not going back

When the knot is impossibly wound up she knows how to make keen incisions with scissors to remove the tight balls of mats. In total I spent 5 hours with her 3.5 for the detangling service of severely matted and unhealthy hair and the remaining 1.5 hours getting a dye job, blow out, and trim. I WAS GOING TO HAVE TO CHOP EVERYTHING OFF BUT BECAUSE OF GLORIA I HAVE MY LONG HAIR BACK AND BEAUTIFUL! I CANNOT THANK HER ENOUGH! I've been going to Melba's since 2011 to do my blow outs & got my hair dyed red by them once…read more Pros: You can go to almost any worker and your hair will come out nice. They don't overcharge for service either. I pay only 25 for my blow outs. When I dyed my hair red by Gisselle it came out beautiful. I've never had any dissatisfaction with the way my hair LOOKS after sitting in their chair. Cons: The place is loud, ghetto and somewhat unprofessional. They show very little to no concern for the health and condition of your hair - just the look. They use very little heat protecting products or conditioners. Nobody speaks English, or legible English I should say. And if they speak to you in English they tend to have an attitude. They sometimes stop to eat or have a quick chat with someone else. The place is like a hang out spot for the relatives or good friends of the workers and it can be unnecessarily over packed because of that reason. You can't tell the hair dressers from the clients because the workers do not wear any kind of uniform, smocks, or any other attire that would otherwise indicate they work there and they usually sit amongst the clients so if you're not familiar with who works there and who doesn't when you first walk in the salon, you'll find yourself awkwardly waiting for someone to greet you and ask what you need done. The workers will sometimes eat in the salon which I find unprofessional they should eat in the back or something.

There was an issue with my hair. I tried explaining to the lady (FRANSCIA) what was going on and because there was a language barrier, she threw her hands up as if my issue wasn't that serious enough for her I thought it was VERY rude of her, especially at the fact that I'm not a new face they had no care for the issue I was having with my hair I also didn't like being charged extra at the end. I'd like to know how much my hair is going to be before it is done so it's not a surprise at the end like it was today. I was not happy with the service received right before the holiday I will no longer to going there!! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE and instead of someone helping the situation they all stare and talk about it in Spanish as if you're not standing there and you can understand what they're saying. Not somewhere you want to go for something as simple as a blow out.

I'm not sure what shocked me the most, the ultimate cost for my "bayalage" or the color, and why…read moreit's so hard to be honest about how it comes out in the moment. I am just passing though NJ, but after some Google search I found this salon. It was close to me and the cost seemed reasonable on their website (135+ for bayalage). Which is totally normal for my hair, it's usually 250 after tip. My salon experience cost me 414 after tip, which is mind blowing-I was so flawed over the price my hair color didn't hit until the next morning. I shouldn't have offered to pay before the service was over, I was just being kind so the owner didn't have to come back and close up after us. I never got a recept or a breakdown of what I was charged for. I have a feeling I was charged for additional services I didn't ask for, nor should have been warranted for a bayalage. I had Yngrid as my stylist and I LOVE how she cut and thinned my hair, but she missed the mark on the color after showing her pictures and telling her how I wanted it. Ultimately my hair was just highlighted an ugly gray color, it was "glazed," which I've never had done, and a root treatment...the point of a bayalage is that it doesn't start at the root, which I had stated in the chair...I wanted it to start a few inches from my root. Therefore a root treatment should have never been needed to "blend" the color. While I was also getting my hair done a client came in because she was not happy of the color of her hair. If I had time I would have gone back to have them tone it but I'm on the go and work late. I took time out of work to have my hair done (it was very over due). Overall this salon over charges for services, and it seems like the artists just do their own thing. If you can't simulate the style in the photos don't do the hair!
