I heard about this cigar place online. I had heard about their cigar selection. I went in and was greeted by the owner of the place. Bonnie was so nice and very knowledgeable. She helped me pick out some nice cigars. The prices were reasonable and I was able to get a few cigar. Walked past this place so many times but decided to stop on during the alameda art and wine fair. I got the wine slushie that includes blue caracao and a white wine. It was lightly sweet, cold and delicious. It was intriguing and I def need to come back and try more. read more

Bonne Vie translates to good life and this little shop would definitely provide you with some nice additions whether you are a cigar smoker or drinker. I am always happy to visit a cigar store and was pleasantly surprised to find this somewhat hidden shop while walking my dog. Their humidors are well maintained and have a small but well thought out selection of good boxes. They carry a box or two from Oliva, Fuente, Eiroa among a number of other brands. Both the proprietor and her golden retriever were a pleasure to meet and deal with. I am not a drinker however I would assume their wine/spirits selection is also well thought out. Don't come here if you are looking for a huge selection of different brands and vitolas but if you are in Alameda wanting a few good cigars in a very friendly environment then come visit Bonne Vie. read more

Yesterday, I was getting my steps in on my fitbit when I saw a sign advertising Posh Bakery was selling cronuts. I know what a cronut is, but I never had one before. I walked down this corridor in search of someone who would be of some assistance. I almost left and started to head back to the outside of the building. Two other customers walked in and an elderly gentleman came out of nowhere to ask if they needed any assistance. Posh Bakery is part of Bonne Vie, which translated from French to English means Good Life. Owners are Debbie and Frank George. Although I am not a beer drinker or cigar smoker, a sip of wine has a tendency to leave me warm with a pinkish glow on my face. However, that does not stop me from buying the wines or Prosecco as gifts for my friends who are wine drinkers. Mr. George is very friendly and very engaging in conversation. I find him absolutely delightful. I like what I see in his business - the bottles of fine wines neatly organized and reasonably priced. Then to add a unique hot beverage machine (all the way from Milan, Italy) really takes the cake, or shall I say the freshly baked cronuts, apple fritter, sticky buns, etc., all sealed in a bubble-type plastic container. The quality of his baked goods is far better than what is offered at a typical 7-11 or Walgreen's. Definitely I will return to enjoy a free cup of coffee or chai tea with the sinfully rich blueberry cronut to go. There is no area to sit around his wine shop, but I can sit on one of the benches outside, sip my beverage, eat my cronut and just people watch. The best time to enjoy the baked goods would be Fridays or Saturdays during the day. read more

The woman that helped me was very informative about where to begin and what to look for when selecting the proper cigar to fit my taste. She showed me a few different medium cigars and after I made my decision she cut it for me and I took it on my way to enjoy. Gave us a whole lesson how what to do with cigars, which ones are the best for your type of drink, flavor, etc. It was crazy to me that you'd have to account for all these things to comprehend the beauty of a cigar. They also have an extensive selection of wines and beers. He also put in some cigar cutters and special matches with our order. Went in last night after a yummy dinner at AO. I have never been a cigarette smoker, but I love a good cigar. Especially when playing cards or enjoying a wedding. It's just so perfect. Anyway. I came in not knowing my preference because other more experienced connoisseur's usually make suggestions for me. Frank was able to suggest the perfect cigar and teach me a little etiquette along the way. I also picked up a cute little porcelain black jack ash tray.
