I ordered a bottle of red wine from this business through Postmates. Didn't pay too much attention as I just wanted a decent bottle of red so I picked a $35 bottle of wine, expecting it would be worth the price. What they sent me was, I kid you not, a wine that literally retails EVERYWHERE for eight or nine dollars a bottle. Should I have googled the purchase to check competitive prices? I guess so, but I wouldn't have expected I needed to do that. Super disappointing. Sours me on Postmates as well as this business. total price with everything including tax and tip was $46. Ssshhh...no telling on me or my husband to Santos Liquors that we are buying our scratch offs from this business, Albertino...lol I have never been here to buy anything, but I like their set up with all the wines on one side of the building; and snacks, groceries, sundries and a limited selection of household items on the other side. The assortment of cold beverages are stored in the refrigerators in the back of the store. Everything is so well organized and so easily accessible. The gentleman behind the counter was helpful and friendly while assisting my husband. He was also personable with other customers. This gave me a chance to browse around in the wine section and admire the assortment of wines and spirits that they had on display. Buy: a bottle of Barefoot Bubbly (Tropical Infusion) for $6.99, which I believe was reasonably priced. There is no telling when I'm going to enjoy the bubbly. Tee hee. I would not mind returning to Alameda Cellars to purchase a few bottles of wine for gift giving. It is a small business with a whole lotta punch - oops, burp -I mean wines, spirits, beers, ales, etc. read more

We were touring my friend Josh and Liz's new neighborhood looking for all of the usual necessities and at the top of the list was to peruse the shelves of their closest liquor store. They had an ample wine section and a fairly complete hard liquor stash as well. The 20 oz. beers on display were a bit lacking but we did walk out of there with a new taste sensation. My friend Josh introduced me to my first beer and tomato juice combo. She says that both Dona Tomas and their sister local Tacubaya both serve up a tasty beer/tomato juice concoction. I sampled the La Pinata III version on a recent visit. I love bloody Marys and I love beer. This brings the two together. It is a way of introducing beer acceptably into a breakfast drink. What a concept! Anyway, while combing the shelves at Alameda Cellars we happened upon a tall boy of Chelada brought to you by the good folks at Budweiser. Needless to say, I had to try it. They gave me the required small brown bag so that I could drink it on our walk back to Josh and Liz's new pink palace. The rest of our crew thumbed their noses at our new find but Josh and I enjoyed every last drop of it. For the health conscious, they also offer a Bud Light version. Avoid this place at all costs!!!!! Charge you .50 cents to use atm card when they say it would apply for purchases under $10.00. Bought some sodas and ice cream, came to just under $10.00 - also bought $4.00 of lottery so total I spent there was just under $14.00 and the guy still charged the $.50 fee. I love these guys. Not just because they are steps from my house, but because the dudes at the counter are so awesome. They remember me every time - like I'm a regular! - even when I haven't been in in months. They are just the sweetest. The wine selection is pretty good for a corner store, and they have different kinds of milk, bacon, and all the rest you could need for a good hangover breakfast. Good place to go for some buzzballssssss. I came here today with two other friends. Our destination: the aisle of liquor that housed buzzballs. Easy enough task? Strange to rate a liquor store :-) this place has provided the means of special snacks for special moments for my husband and sons. They often stop by to buy a 6 ounce can of pineapple juice along with Ritz crackers and sit under a tree at the nearby Jackson Park. There has also been many late nights where we stop by to buy a gallon or half gallon of emergency milk. This is also the spot where my husband takes the casual carpool, so many jokes surround this important place, and we're glad it's here. read more

They offer plenty of strong local brews in a variety of sizes; many with price tags cheaper than Bevmo.
