Bonita is a hidden gem. Right on a side street next to much busier restaurant. But it dose not disappoint and is very delicious burger joint in Tulum. For my vegan friends they have great burgers and even make their own vegan cheese which is phenomenal. The ambiance is causal but lovely on warm Tulum evening. We picked this placed based on the Yelp reviews and pictures. The food looked great. It was a rainy day when we arrived and thankfully half of the eating area was covered so that we had some shelter from the storm. I ordered the Elvis sandwich and my girlfriend ordered the basic cheeseburger. The Elvis was a combination of peanut butter, banana, hibiscus jam and bacon served up on grilled bread. The combination of flavors was fantastic but the bacon could've cooked more (it wasn't crispy). The cheeseburger came on a nice seeded, buttery brioche bun with cheddar cheese and grilled onions. On the side came ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise and a chive cream cheese. The burger needed seasoning (salt and pepper) and the French fries needed to be cooked longer or at a higher temperature as they were soggy and limp. I wanted to try the octopus burger but they didn't have it so I tried Shrimp burger instead. It wasn't the best shrimp burger I've had. The sweetness of the brioche bun and the sourness of of the lime on shrimp didn't go well together unfortunately. The lemonade was really good. I've been staying in TULUM for almost 3 weeks now since Covid-19 and am currently finishing up my meal here at BONITA and I must say this has been hands down by far the BEST BURGER JOINT IN TOWN. My friend and I kept coming back at least 3 times a week. We repeatedly couldn't stop ordering the CHEF 2.0. Nothing beats a SAVORY, MELTY cheeseburger and although I'm not a fan of GOUDA CHEESE, they absolutely nailed it. I wouldn't change a thing about this burger. The meat has it all, it's gamey, rich, grassy, cheesy, beefy, and nutty. I guarantee that every time you take a bite of their food, it is non-stop ecstasy! It has the perfect balance of flavors. Soft & Moist. They had an assortment of condiments but I always ask CHIPOTLE SAUCE. Their Bartender and Server are two incredible human beings, if you're there long enough, get to know them. This place is so delicious. I was a bit indecisive about what to order and the waitress was super helpful and she picked a burger that was amazing. The bread is fresh, the meat was full of flavor and the sauces were amazing. The fresh fruit waters they had were so refreshing. The atmosphere was so relaxing and they had a mini jenga to keep us occupied while our food was prepped. I will definitely be coming back to this place before I leave Tulum. Probably the worst food spot I had during my vacation in Tulum. The service was really awful. When my group arrived, there was 8 tables open, but it took 15 minutes for us to get seated. One of my friends never got his order either. We informed them 5 minutes after we all got our food except him. They didnt let us know what was going on, whether the kitchen is still making it or the order was forgotten...? Another 30 mins passed and still nothing. We ask the waiter again and then he said he will let the kitchen know to start making it. At this point, everyone else was almost done eating. Service was poor and staff was inattentive. I ordered the Aloha burger and the patty had no flavor at all. In addition, my buns were extremely soggy and gross. Lettuce inside was also soggy and not fresh. They gave me ice in a glass and coke seperately. The ice was very melted and watery, i had to pour out a bunch of water before putting my soda in. AVOID this place at all cost.
