I am in San Francisco, and I found these guys in PA online. Jet Hot is an industry standard for hi-temp coatings, but they're nutty expensive and since I was buying my exhaust manifolds on ebay and shipping was free from ebay, I figured I'd shop around and wound up calling BP. As someone with a marketing degree, I have to wonder why one would use "Bonehead" in the name of their business, but: whatever. Their pricing was attractive and I want no rust, not a super-premium coating service, so I'm OK with what they're offering and charging. Talked to a lady and sent in my order form. Made an error because I was rushed and mixed up two of my phone numbers, making me unreachable by phone via my own hand. Email address was good though. Didn't hear back for some time and called three times. Left voicemail twice, and emailed twice. Got an email reply after some time that I replied to but got an incomplete answer to that one too. Bad communication and followup - I can understand if you're working and can't answer phones - the reason given - but no reply to email or voicemail is not OK. Finally reached someone and they confirmed that the parts were done, accepted my payment and the parts shipped promptly as soon as we connected. Excellent workmanship and I got what was advertised / very happy with what I received in the box. Also got into an email squabble with the owner defending himself and blaming me for being unreachable. He was hell bent on getting the last word in rather than accepting that he'd been hard to reach or that the extra 2 weeks of delay was in any way attributable to BP's action or inaction. The delay didn't damage me any - engine's out of the car and waiting on other things, but the attitude and denial was a real turn off. Hardly worth nuking a company on yelp over, so I went for 4 stars here. That being said, I'll pass on any additional orders with them. Workmanship = excellent Pricing = excellent Customer Service = absentee They get a grade of B- for that reason. The customer service stuff is so, so easy to do right, and I genuinely hope that this message prompts BP to tighten things up in that area. read more

I honestly can't say enough about how great Bonehead Performance Coatings is. First and foremost, they do top-notch work with significant attention to detail. They make note of any specific requests or instructions and follow them completely. Their facility is bright, clean, and extremely organized. It has a spacious showroom displaying tons of different colors and coatings they offer, as well as a large project pickup area. The staff at Bonehead are just as incredible as their work. They were very patient and understanding about how long a particular part I ordered was taking to become available and ship. They held the other parts that were already completed for some time, so I wouldn't have to pick them up in multiple trips. When the last parts finally did arrive, they completed them quickly and efficiently so I'd have them in time for my install scheduled the following week. Megan was extremely sweet, personable, and professional. She's who I spoke with most times when I called and both times that I came in. McKenzie was also very courteous and kind. She took great care in packing all my parts up securely with protective foam, tape, and shrink wrap. Both Megan and McKenzie even helped organize the parts to fit in the boxes as well as load them into my car. Additionally, the owner (whom manages their Facebook account) even cut me a very respectable deal for bringing in so many parts to have done. I have to say I'm extremely pleased with all aspects regarding my experience with Bonehead Performance Coatings. I was recently referred to this establishment from our local body shop. I need to have a expensive and sentimental dog food stand painted. I reached out to a body shop thinking that they could do it while painting a vehicle or parts. They told me I should be going to bonehead performance as their business is powder coating. I went to bonehead with the item and was overwhelmed by the amount of finishes they provided. I finally picked out a two-step process and left the item. One week later the item was ready. When I picked it up I was amazed by how great it looked. It actually looked brand new actually better than new. And all for $60. What a hidden gem this place is. Our small business (Photobot 3000!) has used Bonehead on two occasions now and we can say that both times were some of the best examples customer service and quality workmanship we have ever experienced. Their shop may be over an hour form our HQ in South Philadelphia but could not possibly be more worth the trip. The paint color is impeccable (lipstick red and matte black) and the quality is evident by the years of abuse we've given each piece with the most minimal signs of wear and tear. I called and asked for a 2 color paint job price for a bicycle. I was given a price. When I took the bike in and showed them how I wanted it painted, I was told it would cost more because the 2 color price was for one color on top of another color. What I was asking for would need masking off the line between colors. I have had 2 bikes painted before and never heard this strange pricing explanation. I was told that the person who knows about the real price wasn't there and they would call me in about an hour and half. Well I waited around at home with my bike to go back again and they never called back. Needless to say I'm not using this shop to paint my bike. read more

Brought set of 4 rims in to powder coat. They took to much material off while removing chrome. Tires would not mount, tires just fell off. THEY DESTROYED ALL OF MY RIMS! DO NOT USE! They blamed their vendor, a machine shop, my agreement was with them not a vendor. I would give a zero star if I could! NEVER AGAIN! I will pass it on. read more

These guys are GREAT at what they do. An awesome family business that I'm proud to support when I need the services. Their prices are very fair, their time frames are very reasonable even when they are loaded with work (you usually get it back sooner than said anyway!) and they do great work. I have gotten a set of wheels done as well as motorcycle parts and they have always come out great. They take the time to talk to you about color choices, which there are a ton of. They encourage bringing their samples out to your vehicle to see it in natural light to make sure you get a real feel for the color. They really care about their customer and their quality. While these guys are super nice and all, but when I had my motorcycle frame coated here a while back, they were a bit dismissive when I tried to outline the bearing surfaces and mounts that needed masking, so I assumed they understood, but as I feared they didnt mask any of the areas that needed masking besides threads, and missed a decent size spot on the underside, that and it was almost $400, I will go elsewhere next time.
