Being from Florida, it's hard for me to like a Seafood Chain, because I'm used to my Fresh Seafood right on the dock, still kinda moving, being freshly caught and all. You can't beat that. You also can't get that here in Landlocked Colorado. Enter Bonefish Grill. Solidly prepared seafood served grilled with a variety of "House Toppings." (Mango Salsa is a popular choice.) or prepared in a variety of chef-ey ways (Various preparations and sides.) It's definitely a Chain, but it's a step above the usual chain. Entrees do come with some pretty killer bread and olive oil / chopped herb and olive tapenade to dip it in, but do not come with salad, and that will set you back an additional $4ish. So I recommend sharing an appetizer. This last visit, for a late night "Wine and Nosh" session, I discovered the "Saucy Shrimp"... Smallish shrimp sauteed with Tomatoes, Garlic, and Black Olives, topped with Feta Cheese. (Photo.) It was pretty awesome. The Bacon Wrapped Scallops were also quite the hit. Many of their Grilled Fish entrees come in a more reasonable smaller size, so that's a good option for those of you that don't love leftover fish. Went there for my birthday dinner with my darling husband. We didn't make any reservation and it was on Saturday evening at peak dinner hour. The room was packed with people, yet we got seated right away - impressive! As soon as we were seated, the waiter gave us the menu and explained about the specials and took our order for drinks. We didn't order anything special and we got our drinks right away. After checking out the menu, husband decided to get the Rainbow Trout with lemon butter sauce and mashed potato and I ordered the Alaskan Halibut with mango salsa and herbed Jasmine rice. The wait was not long, which made another positive impression about the service. My halibut was perfectly seasoned and the sweetness of mango salsa complimented the saltiness of the rub. The herbed jasmine rice has a hint of citrus in it, completing the rich flavor when combined. We closed our dinner with the strawberry shortcake dessert. Delicious shortcake surrounded with fresh strawberries and light whipped cream. The portion is generous, we could almost not finish it because of the size. It was all great...until we had to wait for the check. The plates have been cleaned and we were sitting there tapping our fingers waiting for the check. We waited for 10 minutes before the check finally arrived, which is kind of weird because usually it's the other way around. This is one of our favorite restaurants to treat ourselves to. It's a chain- but it's worth your hard earned dollars. We had Russ as our server and he was fantastic. It was very busy, but the way Russ did the service, we didn't feel rushed at all. Hubby had the salmon and I had the chowder and waygu dumplings. It was so yummy! The berry mojito won't disappoint. We originally went in for the fish n chips special. We went way off course. We were full but key lime pie was on the dessert menu- so obviously it was meant to be for us to split a piece. This is a very difficult place to evaluate. It has many reviews which rave about it and others that are negative. My recent experience at a Saturday lunch is a bit of both. The positives for us were that when we walked in to meet friends we were immediately impressed. It really seems to be a classy attractive place. Next the menu even for lunch is quite diverse with heavy emphasis on fish which is to be expected. There were also egg dishes and salads and much more. The service was quite good and we felt very comfortable with our server. On the flip side the prices were high for many items. Still I decided to go with fish and chips even if the price was over $17 and here I was quite disappointed. The fries were great but the fish consisted of 3 thin strips which were, at least to me, a bit over cooked. What a letdown! I mean I've been around and have had many fish and chip meals and sadly this truly was at the bottom of all I've had. My spouse had a burger which was okay but nothing to write home about. Our friends ordered and their items seemed much better so I am left with mixed feelings. I am sure that there are many dishes that would be great and that those who provide 5 stars have solid reasons for their views. Yet I have to stick with 3 stars which might get changed if I ever return to this restaurant. First impressions of this place is that the prices seem a little high. I had the fish and chips which was supposed to be the daily special yet it was the same price as on the menu. The food was good but not worth the $20. Maybe you pay for the ambiance but even if you are on a date or something they pack everyone right next to each other. So there is no real privacy. It's funny as often as I used to haunt this place I had never once tried their bang bang shrimp. I was out out Wadsworth and decided I should pop in and give it a try. Ate here yesterday with my friend & it was great. The crab fries were a great idea, but kind of awkward to eat...really no sauce, just sprinkled crab meat on top...flavorful, but ? My friend & I were splitting the salmon salad & they split it beautifully for us & it was delicious. I was pleasantly surprised that they had a gluten free flourless brownie in their dessert menu & it was served with vanilla ice cream & raspberry sauce....yummy. Great service & atmosphere. When Bonefish first opened we were such fans! They had amazing customer service and it was such a great ambiance. However, we have noticed that they have added a lot of tables to the dining area causing crowding and taking away the personal space that we once enjoyed. The bar area is blasted with sunlight at a certain time of the day, so you can't even look at people without being blinded. And then the dining room in the evening is so dimly lit I need my phone light to see the menu. Food is usually good, I always recommend the bang bang shrimp. These are little things that can be fixed, so hopefully they can change it up a bit. EDIT: 5 stars Went back in January of 2018, all things above have been changed. While we don't know the names of the server or manager, we wanted to leave a review here for OUTSTANDING SERVICE. After my husband was in a car accident nearby, I came to meet him and figure out that debacle. We ended up having hours to kill with all sorts of tow truck issues, so we walked down the street to this Bonefish. Despite only having drinks and snacks in the bar area, the service was outstanding. (And hello bang bang shrimp.) After hearing of our struggles, our server was even more attentive. However, the cherry on top was when the bill came. He and the manager had zeroed our bill and wished us the best of luck in the accident aftermath. I can't even think of the last time a national chain type of restaurant provided this level of customer experience. Of course we left a monster tip, but what a gesture! While we're not big chain restaurant goers, that is way above and beyond, and we'd go back next time we're in the area. The food at Bonefish Grill always impresses me! The flavors, the colors, the choices, just hit the mark with me. On top of that, the service is always just spot on. They don't mind my questions that I'm sure they've answered a 100 time per day already, and they offer great ideas or let you taste a beer to see if you like it. The Bang Bang Shrimp must be a signature dish there because I saw plate after plate of that going out to tables, including ours. Our waiter said nearly every table orders that appetizer, I can attest, that stuff is awesome! They do have items other than fish as well, but I've yet to try any of them..yet. I've been there many times now, and will continue to patronize Bonefish Grill. Maybe I'll eventually try a steak. I sometimes go to this location just for Happy Hour drinks and the clientele is um, well, tends to be in the 60+ age group. Nothing wrong with that, I'm not criticizing, I'm actually not far from that age group myself, and it is nice to be one of the youngest guys at the bar at my age. Went to go pick up a meal yesterday for myself for dinner that night and also a lunch for today. I had ordered a large Caesar A cup of soup Bang bang shrimp And a risotto Del Mar The Caesar was the wrong size so I had called and had that fixed by just replacing the price rightly. As I started eating the small salad there was a staple inside. So I had called again to let the host know I also work in a kitchen and this is dangerous. Restaurants are already struggling and didn't want a refund of my money. I just simply took it out and ate it. Now I'm eating my lunch which I saved the risotto for and there are no bay scallops as listed inside. I'm just disappointed. I'm struggling to find a reason for why there was so many mistakes when I know it wasn't busy there. I was the only car waiting in the parking lot for my order and I could see waiters standing inside patiently. I give two stars because everything was tasty, and the order was made promptly. Ate here last weekend and had a poor experience. Once we were seated at the bar area, I noticed the table was dirty. I waited for the waitress to figure it out but she didn't. The drink runner figured it out and kindly refused to sit the drinks without the table being cleaned. However, the worst part was having a random couple sit at our table. Imagine that!!!! Had a nice meal last night - had the crab cake and steak meal. Better than the last meal I had which was a hamburger and was a little on the rare side. Do like the warm bread and olive oil with seasonings. Might be a little to much salt in the seasoning part. Surprised no real lemonade offered. Used to love this place, our go to every week, but not anymore. They changed the menu and got rid of our favorite menu item, nothing close like it anymore. They eliminated Martini Monday, raised the prices on drinks and items. Maybe a once a year thing now, nothing special they way we once viewed this place. Food was tasty, but service was slow and inattentive. My lunch partner needed a straw and sweetener for ice tea but waiter left right after he dropped off our food. It was a good 15-20 min before he came back to check on us. My omelet was very good but the side of bacon looked like burnt kindling. Asked for another side of bacon that wasn't well done. Waiter went to kitchen to reorder the bacon and came back saying it's going to be 15 minutes before it was ready. It was a good 25-30 minutes before we got the bacon - literally as we were leaving the restaurant as we had another commitment we didn't want to be late for. Again the bacon was extra crispy. I had 7 pm reservations made by telephone for New Years Eve. Upon arriving the small waiting and bar were jammed packed with people. We were told our reservation would be delayed an hour. The restaurant was overbooked. We were told that the online reservation system didn't know how to " stop " when it was filled thus the overbooking. Last week, it was my first time at Bonefish by some recommend from my friends. This restaurant look so nice and clean and the service was good too. It was my first time for me and I got a very good help from my server, she recommend a very good dish for me and it was a tuna steak, they grilled it so perfect. I would say they are the fish expert. I love coming here because it is always comfortable enough for the family but upscale enough for clientele. My biggest is she with the plays his lack of consistency overall.. The other one would be the fact that the volume goes from ungodly loud where you can't hear the person next to you. The food has never been a problem here nor has oysters or the cocktails. Service times are a little slow when they get busy, but that could be expected everywhere. Now in their defense they did replace it with a barely cooked steak... we ordered medium rare and it came out rare at best. When the bill came no discount or anything. Now I'm not one to demand a discount but really it comes down to good versus bad customer service and this location has bad customer service.
