Lovely stop on our way to Ontonagon - even in the rain! The falls are not far from the parking lot and there is a lot of wooded paths to walk along so you aren't trudging through mud. Would highly recommend stopping by this beautiful waterfall!! read more

Bond falls is definitely a must see if you visit the western upper peninsula! It is pet friendly, so dogs are allowed. Lots of walking trails- you can hike up to the top and there are more smaller falls at the top. The entrance and bottom of the falls is wheelchair accessible and an easy walk with a wooden dock pathway. The climb to the top is pretty steep stairs, and they are wet from the spray from the falls. But definitely worth the view I'd you are up for it! You are allowed to swim in the falls, but they advise caution because of the strong current. read more

Beautiful Okace, Well Maintained, Happy Spot So this is a great place, super nice trails. No a long hike, less than a miles probably each way to see it all. Super short to just see the first falls. When you get to the big falls keep going around and up the stairs for more little falls and great scenery! This is a nice state Park so you will have a small fee that is what keeps the park nice. What are you waiting for? Go chasing some waterfalls.... Take a hike! read more

Bond Falls We almost missed this falls .. it was pouring ran and we turned around to drive out .. before long it stopped and saw a glimpse of blue sky. So we turned around again and gave it a shot. No one was at the both collecting the fee. we saw a skinny momma deer and tiny spotted baby deer .. but the baby jumped back to the trees before i got the camera. the falls were special .. after a week of great falls this was the cherry on top. Very large and unsual .. without stairs. yay!!! so glad we ended or Upper Peninsula trip with this falls. We'd stayed the night in Houghton with the idea of going to Copper Harbor and perhaps porcupine mountain .. but we decided to forego those and head home early. Hope to return in the fall sometime. read more

I think everyone who visits the Michigan UP should see this in addition to the Porcupine Mountains, both located in the same county. The old Hamm's beer commercial with the jingle "From the land of sky blue water" featured Bond Falls as its backdrop. I vaguely remember it from my childhood. Thirty years later, I make a trip out to this place every time I'm in the UP. Bond Falls is north of Watersmeet, located in Paulding in Ontonagon County, which is actually in the Eastern time zone than neighboring Gogebic County (Central Time). That technicality aside, there is no excuse to skip this majestic site. If you're ever in the UP, take US-45 north of US-2 through Watersmeet into the next county, then watch for the Paulding sign. Turn right on Bond Falls Road and it takes you straight to the place. In recent years, they made a dramatic improvement in accessibility by making a paved walking trail from an adjacent parking area, through some woods, and down to the Falls. Now, even someone in a wheelchair can go down there and see it. You can climb up some really steep and treacherous cement stairs to the right of the Falls and get up real close to feel the water spray of the torrent flowing down. However, it's not for people who are out of shape, like the fat guy from "In Bruges" who wanted to go up to the tower. To the left of the falls, there's a dirt trail that's even more treacherous, full of exposed, twisted tree roots and steep inclines for the more adventurous hikers. Not a good place for the kids to climb, even with a Stunt Baby who's an avid climber. For the really, really adventurous, there's even an overhanging tree limb and you can sit on it and look over the falls directly below. Bond Falls also has a little tourist/gift shop with the usual postcards and mineral rocks, but we skip it on our visits. read more

Really pretty and very accessible. The entry trail is well-kept and the area around the falls consists of a boardwalk, so everyone can easily get a good look at the falls. As Mike said, to the right of the falls there are concrete steps and an official trail, so you can hike up to to the top. The left has a less official trail, but I was able to navigate in my sneakers without too much trouble (some of the rocks are a little slippery even when dry, though, so just make sure to be aware). Note that the park requires you to buy a parking permit at a self-pay station, $6 for residents and $8 for out-of-state. I would have walked by without noticing, but one of my friends noticed the sign. read more

The falls were awesome to behold, and the accessibility to them was great. We have two small girls, age 3 and 1. So with the deck trail that led to the falls, along with the sturdy rails, we felt really confident having our small ones there and allowing them to explore. I was also really surprised that there was access to the falls themselves in about five places along the trail. I look forward to be able to take the girls there when they're older so we can explore more closely to the falls themselves. read more

I wish I could give Bond Falls a higher rating. The falls are beautiful, but, once you look past them, and see all the concrete under them in numerous areas, you can't help but feel that "man" has had a hand in getting the falls "just so". There are many pretty views, some good trails around and the improvements made for wheel-chair accessibility with boardwalks and paving made for a lot of people viewing the falls. The concrete steps (with a hefty handrail) are navigable by most people except those who can't handle steep inclines, potentially slippery footing and are afraid of heights (going down you feel like you're tipping forward over the edge). Good to see at least once? Yes. Pretty? Yes. But, sometimes "man" should leave well enough alone. read more

Pret-ty gnarly. I've probably been to Bond Falls a dozen times, and it really doesn't get old. It's a nice scenic drive from where I stay in Iron County, and there is a casino nearby in Watersmeet (Go Nimrods!). The falls are not overly tall or overly violent, but the scale is still very impressive. If you wander off into the woods, you'll find your way into a spillway with warning signs and sirens everywhere. At the top of the falls, there is a little cabin that sells U.P. related gifts and refreshments. read more

This was a great stop. Lots of rain meant much more water than probably normal so it likely didn't quite look the same as usual. Water everywhere. I particularly liked the trail up the stairs right next to the falls and up the river. It was very scenic and a decent hike despite the cold and snow flurries. This is a fantastic water falls! It is set up to be handicapped accessible and for families with strollers. Now, that said; not every area is, but an amazing amount is. There are restrooms at the parking area, and a picnic table. As you hike and continue there are other tables. It is a many layered spread out falls area. Plan to enjoy it and not rush. read more

Nice trail, quite the hike if you go all the way around, but fun. They have a place to get ice cream at the top and there are also always ducks to feed. If you don't want to walk the entire trail you can even drive around and start at the bottom. It's a place to stop every year we are on vacation up there. read more

This Falls made our Trip ! thru U.P. Michigan . With a very dry summer , and stopping at uncountable falls (weak do to rainfall) , Bond Falls was impressive an a must stop if in the area.
