Took my 7 year old for a trail ride. We went to one of the cart, golf, ride places last summer. Grassy Creek Ranch is a much better experience. Morning rain scared off the other reservations so Kyle just had the two of us to take out. Kyle took time to teach us a little about horses and ridding. Got a chance to get the horses moving a little faster than a walk. Barn was clean and organized. Horses appeared well cared for. Be sure to call a couple days ahead for reservations as this family run stable books up quickly due to the small size of their groups. read more

We really enjoyed this horseback riding experience last summer with Kyle. He was a college student who was kind and very considerate of our group. We decided to give it a shot this summer, we are ALL regretting that choice. We spent an hour on a beautiful trail with Sonny. During that hour we all got to listen and watch him belittle and yell at my 8 year old niece. She was a timid rider and asked multiple times (while crying) to be tied to an adult. He untied her from an adult and then sent her off as the first rider on the trail. At one point she fell off of the horse. His rationale was that he was helping her get over her fear. He yelled at multiple people in our group for not being expert horseback riders. It was truly an insane experience that I never want to repeat or subject my children to EVER again. read more

Loved it!! Took my 5 year old son on his first ever horseback ride, and it was a great experience! Sonny knows what to do with a first timer, and had a smaller horse waiting for a smaller fellow. The ride was through a beautiful wooded trail in the state forest and it was super fun! We try to go horseback riding everywhere we vacation. We've ridden in beautiful locations like Galena, IL and Sedona, AZ, yet this is our absolute favorite place to ride because it's not just a mosey around a track on horses that are on autopilot. If you want to go on a trail ride where your horse will trot, canter and jump, then this is the place. The owner (Sonny) and guide are very nice, the horses are well cared for, and the price is very reasonable. We've ridden here twice in the past 5 years (only time we've been to Minocqua in the summer), both for 2 hour rides. This visit was with teenagers, the last visit was with youth, we had happy riders both visits which says a lot if you've ever traveled with teenagers! read more

Okay, I'm not even a horse person, and I cannot wait to head back here this summer! We had a group of three adults and two children, and I'll let you guess who was white-knuckling it... just in the parking lot! Kyle was absolutely a fantastic guide; with the horses and the clients. He could sense my panic and actually looped my reins onto his horse so that; 1. The grandchildren would not sense my fear, and 2. I could relax and after a bit, actually enjoy the ride and the beautiful trail. Please note that the children and the other adults were trotting and cantering and thoroughly laughing and viewing the gorgeous forest that we rode through. The hour went by in a flash; this is a definite put-on-repeat for ALL of us. Sonny and Kyle have beautiful horses and a clean and cared for area, and then also share the verdant and lush forest during your ride. The price is absolutely reasonable, and the value to all of us was priceless. read more
