The lugnuts were so tight, I couldn't budge them, and I am usually pretty strong and self-sufficient. The owner of Crystal Waters Resort not only pulled over to make sure I was ok, he even loosened the lugnuts for me so I could change my tire. He even waited and blocked off the street so I would be safe while doing so. This type of hospitality helping a stranger, I can only imagine how much above and beyond he would go for his guest. I have a lot of family in the area and visit often, I will be recommending this property to everyone I know. Thank you for your help!

If you like driftwood for decorative purposes, here's the place! Seems lots of North Woods cabins have some driftwood in their yards, or people craft things using driftwood. Here's a great beach for finding it. The place is about 8 miles off the major highway and is hard to get to. If anything, by writing this review, it will help me remember how to find it next time. Going northbound from downtown Crystal Falls along US-141, turn right at Fisher Road. These are all gravel backroads from here on. Continue on Fisher, then turn left on Balsam Road. Once you get to WPA Road, you'll see a sign for Recreation Areas 17 & 19. Turn right and continue towards Area 19. There will be some twist and turns but keep going. You'll see a lake and a boat landing area. The actual driftwood beach is a little walk down a hiking path. The beach is lined with wooden stairs to sit and watch the water. Off to the side is a wooded area with all kinds of driftwood washed ashore. Some are dog-fetching stick size and others are 12-footers that would require two people to carry them out of the water. The lake is part of the Way Dam hydroelectric project, so water levels can vary. Happy hunting!

You can take a trek around the entire falls to view at different angles or stick to the boardwalk if you dont care to walk a narrow trail with rocks and tree roots.

Visitors have access to the lake from 2 public boat landings. Fish include Musky, Perch, Blue Gill, Crappie, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass & Walleye. The lake's water clarity is low. The lake is completely surrounded by beautiful tree covered rolling hills. Most of the shore is rocky & steep. But, a few areas have shallow & sandy beaches. The lake has some of the best fishing in Wisconsin. The lake holds a lot of natural structure. The DNR sank a line of log cribs to enhance fish habitats. The entire lake produces great fishing. I've landed 2 Musky's in a day on the lake. I've also have landed Walleye as big as 26 inches & Small Mouth Bass as long as 20" weighing 5 pounds plus. Walleye's are my only keepers, everything else I throw back. Fishing regulations are posted at each boat ramp landing, please read & adhere to these rules. Keep this awesome fishery strong. The lake is surrounded by approximately 50 lake houses, the majority are only occupied a few times a year. Traffic on the lake is slow, usually a handful of fishing boats most weekends. I've had it all to myself at times during the week. Our family lake house has been on Kentuck lake for the past 18 years. In all that time I've only seen about a dozen boats towing water skiers. We are predominately a nice & quiet fishing lake. Typical noises that can be heard are wind, water & the abundance of Bald Eagles soaring overhead. Just the way I like it!! You can get me out of the woods. But, you can't get the woods out of me!

A nice park on a beautiful large lake…read more We visited in early April and, although a bit cold to get out and sit beachside, we sat in our car for awhile and enjoyed the peace and scenery. I can't see camping here, unless it's during the less crowded shoulder season, just because the sites are so close together and there isn't much privacy. The beach is long, but narrow, and there is plenty of parking. From the shore, you can see the ski jump atop Pine Mountain in the distance. It's a nice place to take a break, when needed, and not to far from either end of Iron Mountain. 23/2025

I'm a veteran camper of the Midwest and thought I'd seen the worst storms. Nope!…read more Lake Antoine is great, small and still and cool. My lover and I kayaked across to a small island and had a great time...except for when I slipped on some moss on a rock. Meh, to be expected. The showers and bathrooms were good for a campground, great proximity to town. The campground is small and covered with pine trees - no underbrush. The campsites are small, open, and closely clustered. This is excellent for large groups and families, but my lover and I wanted privacy. Oh well. Our neighbor lady, Cathy, was super-awesome and we enjoyed hanging out with her! We heard some stunning coyote calls around 1am. Then a lightningstorm began at 2am and continued until 4am, when it became a constant drizzle. Of course we can't blame the park for the storm, that's just understood with camping. Around 3am, I peeked out of our 2 person tent; we faced away from the lake, which was about 60 feet away. All I saw was water!! We didn't know if this was just a giant puddle or if the lake had flooded! And since the storm was still going and the power was out, I wasn't about to get out and look around. When we emerged around 9am the next morning, to the sounds of many dogs barking, huge puddles were evident everywhere. Cathy explained that crews had removed fallen branches at dawn. Of course none of this is the fault of the park and I appreciate that they had cleared away deritis. Had the campsites not been so low, the flood damage wouldn't have been so bad. I wouldn't recommend camping at Lake Antoine if you want to "rough it" and have some privacy. This campsite would probably be better for groups with large campers.

From the cliff-like edges to the dark lava-like rock structures near Blackrocks, it's all a must-see. You could spend a whole day here in the summer no problem. Go hunting for beach glass along the rocky beaches, grab a bench and watch the waves, build a sandcastle on the beach, take a drive around the loop, there's endless ways to enjoy the park and all it has to offer. No hammocking, no dogs (from what I saw on the signage), and be prepared for wind while on the shorelines. Still a 10/10 and the best "park" I've been to.

What a great Urban Park! Presque Isle Park is a large public park that is a peninsula overlooking…read moreLake Superior. The park is easily accessible by car, bike or foot. My dad and I walked around the whole thing and according to my fitbit I had 3.5 miles but we did a lot of side walking too. We parked in the front near the lighthouse alongside of an ore dock. The iron ore docks were cool to see as they are unique to this part of the country. From there we walked out to the lighthouse and checked it out before starting off on the trail. The cliffs over looking Lake Superior and black rocks along the route were really cool to take in. Be careful though as these cliff rocks are known to go crashing in to Lake Superior. I'd say it's almost 3 miles to walk all the way around. There were tons of picnic tables and pavilions but not sure for getting the pavilions work in terms of renting them or if it's 1st come 1st serve. I also saw 2 kayak/canoe vans with trailers but didn't anyone kayaking or canoeing so not sure if that's an option near by.
