Since I haven't had much Korean food, I went for the chicken strips, half of the order as soy garlic (bottom of picture), half spicy (top). All were crispy, crunchy, flaky, well sauced, and with white meat chicken. Soy garlic had a lot of familiar flavours like I would have with steamed dumplings. Spicy had nice fire ! If you like habanero, hot chili, and / or ghost pepper, this mouth heat is sure to light you up. The mixed chicken was great. The drumsticks was the best out of everything we got. I would do an order of them every time. Strips were good, but not that filling. Potstickers are very crispy. The only thing that would really make me go back would be the drumsticks. It is fairly expensive. Average $18 for each chicken order it seemed. read more

Yasss finally a Bonchon in DE! My husband and I are originally from VA which there are many Bonchons. We have been eyeing this place for the grand opening. My husband went there to pick up lunch for us once he saw they were open! We got the soy tenders + bulgogi fried rice. Always super good! I do not recommend ordering online. The Bonchon website offers free delivery from today through the first week of September with code CRUNCH. Except for this location doesn't deliver. But you wont find out until after the order is already paid for and placed. Not only that but they refused to refund the tip just saying it was for the restaurant. Even though the website clearly states that the drivers keep 100% of the tips. Why would I tip $16.00 for food I was forced to pick up. Shady business. I was willing to forgive if the food was any good. Not the case. The only thing that was even good was the doughnuts. The bimibap was flavorless. The katsu chicken was thin and overcooked. Even the rice was dry. Definitely not trying this place again. Way way to expensive for the quality of food. read more

Went on a sunday, ordered Koran tacos, soy garlic chicken (3 for $12.95) & a side ot kimchi ($3.25). it was very busy, lots of people waiting. i had to wait 25 minutes. Yikes. drive home, and had lunch. the tacos were very tasty, fresh lettuce & onions, good semi spicy sauce, but the chicken was tiny chopped bits of meat, maybe the size of a pencil eraser, got maybe 2 tablespoons worth on each, could barely taste any of it. a bit disappointing, theyre stingy with the chicken. the kimchi was very good, had a nice kick to it, but the portion size was small (see pic). while the food was tasty im not sure i'll go back, it's overpriced for what they give you & the wait is too long. read more

Excited that Delaware finally has Korean fried chicken! Was surprised at how fast this place opened considering the Grove is still under massive construction. I think they definitely rushed the opening as they haven't hashed out the technology issues yet. Upon finding out it was open, I tried to place an online order on multiple occasions, only to find the website ordering not working. Don't even bother with the app, it just freezes and times out. Since I couldn't place an online order, I phoned in my order for the 6W/2D combo. When I arrived, the cashier informed me that my order was received as 6W only and that if I wanted the 2D, it would be another 15 minutes. I wasn't going to wait for 2 drumsticks. Decent and different food but the portions are very small. The chicken on my tacos was just crumbs of crunchy coating for almost 15? The equvalent of less than a chicken mcnugget. The staff were nice and the establishment was clean and uncluttered but the meal was a sad and poor value. I was excited to try the new Bonchon after having it first in New York, then DC. I couldn't remember if I liked the spicy or soy garlic better so I got a mix of 6 bone in wings. The spicy definitely had a lot of kick and the soy garlic was like the calmer older sibling lol. Overall the chicken was great and my online order was ready about 10 minutes ahead of time. The store was packed when I arrived with people waiting outside so I suggest ordering ahead. Overall I enjoyed my food I just deducted one star because one of my wings was a boneless wing instead of bone in wing which I didn't care for so I tossed it. read more

I was paying cash soon did not use the kiosk. The person taking my ordering was arguing with Door Dash about order miss up. Ordered placed and I watched order after order being screwed up with delivery people. After 10 min my order was ready (little slow) but it gave me the opportunity to watch the clown show in the back ( cooks). I watched one pour in red sauce (I assume hot sauce) the other guy came over and put in more as he laughed and then some more. Big joke!! I got home (5 miles) and opened up the container to - guess what.... The wrong entree. I ordered the beef stir fry (name escapes me), and I had some other "thing" that I had no idea what it was. The entree was extremely hot (and I love hot food) and the items were unidentifiable. $16.00 down the trash. I called and the person who took the order apologized. This is some of the best fried chicken I've had in my life. Got the kids meal with a drumstick in the soy garlic sauce. The chicken was SO. CRISPY. I have been waiting to try Bonchon for YEARS and was excited to see there was finally one close. This was def in the cut across from Newark High School and has small front room and limited dining side in the back. Place is new so it was very clean! It was however very loud in the store and had a hard time hearing the cashier. Both cashiers were polite and friendly and it didn't take long for the food to be ready, however we got mixed (soy garlic and spicy) and there was a toothpick in one side but didn't say what was what so A- for service. They have big holes in the boxes at the top to prevent steam from making the crispy skin moist as much as possible which I appreciated. We, however, took ours to go and by the time we drove 10 min home unfortunately the skin had gotten somewhat soggy but still had crispness to it. The chicken was cooked well (some of the wings were over cooked especially the flats) but not to the point it was inedible it was still good just not as juicy as I've seen in some youtube videos where juice runs out like Niagara Falls. They give you drumsticks and both wing parts, flats and drums and again drumsticks were cooked well and still crispy but not as juicy as I was hoping. The flavors were good, the spicy had a little kick to it and the soy was nice and savory. We got fried rice and fries as a side and the froses reminded me of Amore Pizza fries good, crispy but every once in awhile I got the taste or aftertaste I should say of "old oil" like it hadn't been changed recently. The fried rice has onion and red pepper in it along with f maybe and egg and was fairly dry and need some type of sauce or something to kick it up. All in all I'd definitely come back and I'm hoping to try the korean tacos they have and maybe some kimchi rice and the kimchi Mac and cheese. 3.8/5 or 7.5/10 from me...definitely a must try! Did not get the chance to try it. I live in North Wilmington. My daughter and I checked out the website and decided to take the ride to try Bonchon for lunch. When I arrived it was complete madness. It's a tiny space but was filled to capacity with people waiting for their food. I stood in line for 15-20 minutes while I watched people inquire about what was taking so long and asked for refunds. By the time I got to the line they told me they weren't taking anymore orders because their kitchen couldn't handle it. Complete disappointment to have people stand in line only to turn them away. North Wilmington isn't around the corner and it was very inconvenient that we drove there for nothing. It looks as though they are very unprepared and unorganized for lots of customers and orders. I ordered the 4 wings and 2 drums combo, fries and coleslaw. Had to throw the coleslaw away. The coleslaw had an awful after taste. It was inedible. I've had it before so I know it's not supposed to taste like that. The chicken wasn't great either. Maybe the cooking oil was dirty. Very disappointed considering the price.
