As he was washing my hair we talked a little bit he told me he was Italian. So I asked him in Italian if he spoke Italian and he did. I told him how amazing it was not to loose you're language and he went on a rant about how you should speak the language of the land you're in and that he wished "these Mexicans would learn the language". I tried to laugh his comments off as his old age showing. But the more I think about it the more upsetting those comments were. I myself am Mexican. Born and raised. He then asked what I would like done to my hair. I explained how I had been growing my hair out and that it had gotten too heavy. I wanted to keep the length but make it more even. This man started chopping away with absolutely no technique. After cutting what seemed like nothing he grabbed the thinning scissors and just went off on my whole head. He asked me if it was good and I said no. He had not shaped any part of my hair and the back was atrocious. I asked for it higher and he just took the scissors across and said "there" I lost all hope. so I just said it was done, so he wouldn't cut anymore. I paid and I went to the bathroom and cried. This was my second time ever getting my hair colored by Kelsey Hill and it turned out to be a very…read moredisappointing ordeal. The first time I got highlights and that went well. This time I decided on a color I wanted (gray) and I showed a photo of the shade and style of gray hair I wanted. I sent photos of my current hair and disclosed the color in it. I arrived and bleach was put on and I sat outside while it processed. As its being rinsed out then I was told that I should have been booked for more time because I had color in my hair even though I sent photos of the hair color days before my appointment. She first said that I would be blow drying my own hair outside and she would style it, but that didn't happen. There was a brief conversation of a backup plan in case it wasn't as ashy as I wanted it and I said a light purple would be my second color choice. My hair was toned twice and still came out way too dark for a light purple (maybe from bleach not sitting long enough/not the right developer) so there goes the backup plan. I had to leave with wet hair because I'm assuming she ran out of time. I dried it at home. It was splotchy, had demarcation lines and a bunch of different colors (gold, silver, yellow, purple, pink, teal). The next day I reached out that I was not satisfied and did not get a response for hours. I went back later that day as I was not happy with the orange/yellow hair color. I kept getting pressured into a bright color when I went in for gray which to me seems opposite. I was told I cannot get a refund and that she messed up and should have provided a better consult but because she worked hard she would not give me a refund. She also would not put in more bleach unless I paid more money. She put a toner in for a 3rd time and now I have dark maroon/orange hair that is still splotchy. Its super dark doesn't even look like it was lightened, it looks nothing like what I asked for and not worth the almost $200 I spent.

She is great with dealing with my hair. It's thick and I have a-lot of it. I get my hair done (colored) about once a year and do minimal up keep to help it recover. This was the same approach I had when scheduling my balayage appointment for copper red on a level 5 brown hair. The inspo picture was shared and my stylist seemed very confident in understanding what I wanted. When coloring we did go in a second time to deepen the red to try and hit my desired look. She got pretty close. I left paying $300 plus for my hair. The balayage (150) + the amount of bleach used (50) + a trim which was not a for sure in the beginning but HAD to be added because my stylist fried the lighter parts of my hair (70) + keratin treatment (25) and tip because I do appreciate my stylist for her time and (50). As far as the end results for the price... I've had better and have paid much less. Oh and my top was ruined (bleached) in the back and I was not told by anyone when I left the salon.
