In 2021, I received a chemical peel at this med spa that resulted in a SEVERE chemical burn to my back. The peel was performed by a front desk receptionist who was "in training," not a licensed or certified aesthetic provider. I later learned this occurred because no qualified provider was available at the time, and rather than rescheduling the service, the treatment was performed anyway. I was not informed that the individual performing the treatment was unlicensed, nor was appropriate supervision or medical oversight provided. The result was significant skin injury--second degree burns, as shown in photos taken during my visit at the BURN UNIT. This was not a post-chemical peel reaction -- it was a chemical burn. At the time, I did not fully understand the seriousness of what had occurred. As a nurse working in the field of aesthetics today, I now clearly recognize this as negligence and a breakdown in management, supervision, and patient safety standards. To this day, I'm still baffled by how this was handled afterwards. Beyond the physical injury, the lack of accountability and concern from management/owner during my recovery was deeply upsetting and added to the emotional toll of an already traumatic experience. Whenever we asked questions, instead of feeling listened to or educated it felt like we were being talked at and dismissed. As clients, we don't expect someone to always agree with us or tell us what we want to hear. We DO value professional guidance and education, but there's a difference between providing expertise and making clients feel unheard or uncomfortable for asking questions. We also noticed a pattern where she kept pushing different products than what we originally came for. And I get it, part of the job is informing clients about options, but the way she did it felt forceful/hostile rather than informative. After repeated experiences like this, it genuinely started to feel as though we were not the type of clients she valued or wanted to work with. If that's the case, I think it would be better to be upfront about the type of clientele they prefer rather to making people feel unwelcome over time while still taking their hard earned money. The last straw for us was just a few months ago. After years of booking here, we had a real emergency and had to call and cancel last minute. And instead of a standard courtesy message or an email (like most established businesses do), she sent a personal angry text to my phone. It came across more like a threat than a professional policy reminder. It's really disappointing, we stayed for years, hoping things would improve, because we had such a positive experience in the beginning but we realized that every appointment left us feeling anxious and uncomfortable than confident.
