I spent the next four months with my body stuck in fight/flight/freeze mode, bedridden, bawling my eyes out, having flashbacks. My insurance refused to cover intensive inpatient trauma therapy. I've survived a year out of sheer luck. Now there are all the investigations going on and I'm having to relive it repeatedly to answer questions. I'm hanging on by a thread, due to visits to crisis centers, and calls with the suicide hotline. I finally got scheduled for EMDR for PTSD. I'm a chronic pain patient, on disability because of it. I have a 15 year history of pain management with medication, 20 years of sleep disturbance and the only thing that works (everything has been tried, only one medication works for me, and it's brand name) and because of the trauma I am now on a PRN anxiety medication. I went to Harmony United for medication management because my previous practitioner moved. Right after telling me that I shouldn't make medication changes right before starting EMDR, the nurse took my sleep and anxiety medication away!! Apparently I'm supposed to meditate my way through this!!! So after 15-20 years of safe use of my medications I'm told they are too risky together so I can't have them! What do you think I'm at a bigger risk for, a medication interaction from taking meds I've been on with no issue for many years, or having a nervous breakdown without sleep, and dealing with trauma and EMDR without PRN anxiety medication? And when this happens, and I end up unaliving myself because of it, they will blame me and say I was suicidal and it was my fault. I got news for you, I'm not suicidal, YOU ARE HOMICIDAL AND CRUEL! What they are doing is tantamount to telling a cancer patient that if they meditate and make friends with their cancer they will be cured! How can mental healthcare professionals stigmatize the treatment of mental health? Because they are being INCENTIVIZED to stop medications? ARE YOU INTENTIONALLY CAUSING MENTAL HEALTH PATIENTS TO SUFFER AND DIE, JUST FOR PROFIT? And, they are illegally trying to charge patients a $100 non-refundable materials fee for neurocognitive testing. They have contracted their rate for this testing with insurance companies and they are telling patients that in ADDITION to the insurance coverage they want this $100 to cover the cost of materials. That's like having NO deductible and NO co-pays for lab work and when you get there they tell you that you must pay $20 out of pocket for the needle, cotton ball, and test tube! Hey just because you don't like the amount you contracted for with someone's insurance (in my case MEDICARE) doesn't mean you can hold healthcare hostage until the patient pays a ransom for it! I guess they think this is a creative way to weasel around the laws against balance billing or surprise billing. I've reported them to Medicare for this extortion. Bottom line, this clinic really cares about PROFIT, not PATIENTS, to the point that they are willing to let you suffer, even die!

I was refered to this office after having surgery on my foot. I had an infection of the bone and…read morerequired two toes to be amputated and other bones to be removed. The pain was excruciating. The office was discussingly dirty and cheaply decorated. Theirs a tacky cardboard fireplace in the lobby, or Ibassume it was supposed to be a fireplace, it looked like one and had an orange light it behind it to make it look as if there's a fire. The office staff was inattentive and not helpful at all actually to the point of being rude. The office was not clean at all, it looked as if it had been months since it was swept. While waiting I kept feeling a stinging feeling after a while I realized I had small close to microscopic translucent bugs crawling up my legs and body. The bite was bad it felt almost like an electrical shock when they bite. By the time I figured out what was going on it was too late. I was completely covered with them and was now in pain from the bug bites. I told the front desk that I had gotten bugs from their lobby. They had a non careing attitude, they said yes they've had them for about a month and they get bit too. I then 50 minutes late they call me to the back and saw a Dr. (Clung/Klune/(?)), I told her about it and she too was rude about it asked did I want pain management or pest control. As the appointment procedure continues all she is willing to do is write a prescription for opioids opioid, which I DON'T touch. I declined treatment and left still in pain and now infested with some sort of parasitic bug. When I got home and started inspecting myself to find they were actually burrowing into my skin. Needless to say I did not go back. My advice is stay away from this place.

Prescribed gabapentin which does nothing and I refuse to take now since it was suggested that is what has caused my cognitive decline , only thing that helps is opioids and they are too afraid to give it to me because of another medicine that I take for anxiety. However I'm on 1/2 of the lowest dose and I take it at 2 am to sleep. I do not need opioids at night and use them rarely when I have to go out during daytime. I am very knowledgeable about medicines since I taken several classes in my younger days . Why do they take patients then refuse to properly help them

For obvious reasons, you wouldn't expect places like this to receive a 5 star review as if it were the Hyatt but it's important to relate this because my latest experience was a very positive one. Although the only other time I voluntarily went there, my experience was so bad that I vowed not to go back. However, when I recognized I needed a little help to mentally reset, so-to-speak, I went against my prior feelings for that place and went back. The good thing is that by doing that, I inadvertently gave both myself and the facility a chance for me to compare the two experiences. What I knew for sure is that there was a place out in Leesburg FL, that I certainly did not want to go to if I could help from it. Going back to the centers (now SMA) turned out for the best. Every one of the staff members were very cordial. Perhaps a slight impatient demeanor by one of the intake persons but nothing really noteworthy. Timing always has factor with all of this. There was more freedom; less constraint. You were not unnecessarily micromanaged as to not being able to have a blanket around you if you were cold, or only at very specific times being allowed to take a shower, or put on a very short specific window when to use the phone or fifteen minutes to go outside to the courtyard, or not be aloud to go lay back down in your room if you wanted to (like some other places did- (Leesburg)). So I didn't have to worry about this place being all 'extra' for no reason! Kudos. The food was both good, healthier, and on time. Several staff seemed to always be on-hand. The place was constantly being cleaned, mopped, and wiped down. The doctor I spoke with; via remote-tele; was very nice, patient and understanding. The social worker was caring. I was told that the new company (SMA) was making concerted efforts to actively change things for the better. It is noticeable. It wasn't just myself that thought this place was decent now; patients had talked among themselves how much better this place was as well in comparison to other places they've been. I suppose places like mental behavioral wards perhaps may not want people to be too comfortable so they're discouraged from wanting to comeback, I don't know. Staring at four walls and being just bored without any of your electronics or phones or video games seem to aid the craziness anywhere. Another patient made a suggestion that it would be a good idea to have therapy animals come through there and I think that her idea was spot on. So, aside from the usual anxious waiting periods being longer than you'd like for whatever persons you may need to see; it's really just indicative of any doctors appointment or how most places are anywhere anyway. So, for now this is as close to as good as it gets. Green light to bring your loved ones here if necessary, thus far.
