We went early in the morning, but can assure you that this place gets busy very fast. The principal attraction is the zipline, which makes this park truly unique. Make your way to the treehouse, going on the suspended bridges, spider webs and ladders. Lots of other features to ensure that kids of all ages will not get bored, and plenty of places to sit or even have a bite to eat. Very well designed and plenty of space. Just be mindful to stay off areas where there are warning signs about poison ivy.

Despite there being 5 stages, things were really well spread out, it was very clean, and there was plenty of space to move around in the crazy crowds. There were a lot of shade options around and seating that seemed permanent to the park, which is rare at festivals. One of the better parts of the experience was the transit. Getting there via ferry was quick (once I figured out which pier was the right one). Leaving the venue was even better. They had trains lined up and ready to go. As fast as one could fill up, the next one was there and ready to fill up as well. I was at the front of main stage for that headliner, and from there to getting off of my main metro stop back in Old Montreal was no more than 20 minutes. Also there was a great view of the city at sunset from the island!

When we planned our trip to Montreal, social media kept pointing us toward Mosaïcultures at Parc…read moreJean-Drapeau. The images I saw online were so compelling that I knew we had to experience it for ourselves. It was a warm summer day when we arrived. The park itself was already beautiful--a serene green escape just minutes from the bustle of the city. Before stepping deeper into the gardens, we stopped at a small stall for coffee. The vendor shared a few kind words with us, and that simple exchange set the tone for the day: warm, welcoming, and grounded. With coffee in hand, we wandered through the pathways where colossal living sculptures seemed to rise out of the ground. Each one was a marvel--crafted from hundreds of thousands of flowers and plants, yet so artfully shaped that they felt like characters telling their own stories. "Mother Earth," with her serene face and cascading waterfall arm, embodied both strength and gentleness. "The Man Who Planted Trees" reminded me of the power of one person's quiet perseverance. And the "Six Pairs of YY" seemed to echo Montreal's spirit of community and cultural connection. We strolled slowly, letting the art unfold piece by piece, until we eventually found a spot to sit. There, I simply took it all in--the scale, the imagination, the harmony between nature and art. It wasn't just an exhibition; it felt like an experience that asked you to pause and reflect. What struck me most is that every year this exhibit tells a different story. It's not only a feat of horticulture but also a cultural heartbeat--Montreal reminding us of the quiet power that art and storytelling hold in shaping how we see the world. In the end, what brought us there was social media hype. But what stayed with me was something far more profound: a sense of awe, a renewed appreciation for art's dialogue with nature, and the reminder that culture--like these living sculptures--is always alive, always evolving.

I feel compelled to write a review about this little park immediately. Why would somebody wonder?…read moreBecause I just listened to Orchestre Métropolitain performing in West Vancouver Park and attempted to check in during a pause between the musical peices. Well, the park didn't even exist in Yelp. Of corse this is no longer the case as I just created it. So one may ask why at Île des Sœurs exists a park with such an unusual name. It appears the city of Verdun is a twin municipality with West Vancouver, therefore the name. I truly hope the municipality of West Vancouver has a park named Verdun. Now about the park. It is accessible via bike path and has a little playground. The best part is the park is at Saint Laurence and you can go to the river through few access points through the threes. There are also few picnic tables near the water. During cold seasons the park offers some breathtaking views of the river, but the local residents really crowd around during the summer and in big numbers. Orchestre Métropolitain performs at West Vancouver park every year during the first weekend of August. Whoever came with the idea to create this amazing event in beautiful surroundings is a genious. The orchestra is outstanding, the concert programme is always oriented towards more popular and easy to listen classical works, the best approach for a diverse public. Considering the fact the talented conductor Yannick Nezet-Séguin is the new musical director of the Met, tonight Ile des Sœur felt like Manhattan of Montreal. Thus the five stars!

It's always breezy here in the summer, even hot days are soothing, the waves are wild and you just feel a release from the heaviness of the city. All the more appreciated during these crazy times.

OMG! WHAT A FIND!…read moreTaking my usual evening bike ride, I stumbled upon this beautiful piece of land called Angel Forest. Probably the most enjoyable bike ride I've done ever since I moved away from Westmount and the magical Mont-Royal in downtown Montreal. Very rugged terrain with many sharp rocks protruding from the very dangerous path I took in mid darkness, FUN! There is also a huge fenced-in dog area where the animals socialize chained up and muzzled. And the dogs do too! (That's a joke) All I know is that at the end of my visit I came out of the forest passed an abandoned railway that ends up nowhere, surrounded by factories and the smell of white bread being manufactured. Where the heck am I? Kept riding all the way to the highway (40) where I saw the Linguini restaurant and thought wow! Let's eat! I will definitely be back to this wonderful area.
