I've actually helped to throw a gorgeous wedding here in the heritage buildings a number of years ago, it was challenging but so memorable and I'd highly recommend it if you're willing to do the work and deal with the constraints of the space (when they reopen). But winter here is my favourite. We love to come here cross-country skiing as a family, being on these huge trails and wild edges of the island. It's always breezy here in the summer, even hot days are soothing, the waves are wild and you just feel a release from the heaviness of the city. All the more appreciated during these crazy times.

I've been training my first year for spartan races and discovered a lot of groups use this park for some serious workouts. They take place all season long! Yes u will find us in short mid winter. Get ur tack shoes on and go try it out.. please make sure you don't try the the obstacles alone.. they can be dangerous.

Centennial Park is one of the…read morebiggest parks in the area, complete with a hill, a lake (not for swimming), bike/running trails, a well maintained park with swings, slides, jungle gym..etc, and plenty of green space. There is also a large parking lot open year round. It is wonderful during all seasons. During the summer, families come to barbecue and relax, using the bbqs that are at the park. There is a dog park that is great for dog lovers. You can go for a morning jog, play beach volleyball, have a picnic, and more! The possibilities are endless! During the winter, many people come tobogganing, skating and cross country skiing. Year round, there is a public bathroom inside the chalet with water fountains in the same area. It is truly a perfect park for families in the west island who want some green space without driving all the way to Mont Royal.

We decided to stop in the area on a Saturday evening around supper time, to enjoy the park and the…read moreview. The good: Stunning view. Beautiful area. Feels old and charming. Not much bugs. Peer is nice and lovely boats there. The bad: EXTREMELY busy! No parking spots anywhere (seriously). You wish they would invest in more parking spaces (then again it is free so who cares). Drivers can easily take a one way street in the wrong direction. Maybe it was because it was Saturday night, maybe because it was the last hot weekend on the summer, but going there is almost an impossible task, and people can easily be discouraged. Go there at your own risks.

Now we go there whenever we're in the West Island so that we can feel like we're in the woods when we're in the suburbs. We hike the 4kms of rolling, narrow, wooded trails, jump across the creek, putter with the baby around the small butterfly garden and listen to Marc and his brothers reminisce about their near fatalities on the toboggan hill and dragging their bikes up dangerous precipices.
