Jacques…read morede Lesseps Park is adjacent to Montreal's airport property, and under the purview of YUL, that gives visitors views of commercial aircraft taking off and landing. The most notable feature here is a large artificial mound that was made so those who want to get good views, photos, and videos of aircraft will get an unobstructed view. There are also benches and picnic tables. Interestingly enough, there is also a porta potty, which looks really weird sitting in the middle of an industrial warehouse zone. Like a Francophone user indicated, it's probably a good idea to visit a nearby Tim Hortons for a donut and a cup of coffee before or after coming here and "doing your business" there. (Thus, it's sort of implicit that you may not want to use that bathroom at the park.) The park has informational signage and boards describing various aircraft that have come to YUL over the decades. There will indeed be aircraft spotting aficionados here and they will clearly remember seeing the last Boeing 747s or Airbus 380s at YUL, and which they miss. Can you blame them? Jacques de Lesseps Park YUL is sort of hidden, yet not hidden. It's but a few blocks west of and parallel to Cote de Liesse, in a warehouse zone with big streets. Parking should not be a problem on Jenkins Avenue alongside the park. If you really want to be civic minded, you can take STM bus 202 to some desolate stop along Cote de Liesse and walk here, but I don't think many people do that! The reason for the 5 stars is the airport's proactiveness in sponsoring and maintaining this site. Not only that, it brings a lot of enjoyment to those who have this as a hobby or just to everyday people who want to visit a park with a very different but very interesting raison d'etre.

Quite honestly one of the coolest hidden spots in Montreal. There is a park spot with some bleachers and a parking lot, both are great for plane watching. You will need a car to get here and if it's cold I don't recommend watching from outside. OMG! WHAT A FIND!…read moreTaking my usual evening bike ride, I stumbled upon this beautiful piece of land called Angel Forest. Probably the most enjoyable bike ride I've done ever since I moved away from Westmount and the magical Mont-Royal in downtown Montreal. Very rugged terrain with many sharp rocks protruding from the very dangerous path I took in mid darkness, FUN! There is also a huge fenced-in dog area where the animals socialize chained up and muzzled. And the dogs do too! (That's a joke) All I know is that at the end of my visit I came out of the forest passed an abandoned railway that ends up nowhere, surrounded by factories and the smell of white bread being manufactured. Where the heck am I? Kept riding all the way to the highway (40) where I saw the Linguini restaurant and thought wow! Let's eat! I will definitely be back to this wonderful area.

If you are looking for a small green adventure on the island, sure why not, but I wouldn't hugely highly recommend it. We parked and followed the arrows that suggested we'd see water. We ended up crossing under a highway on our nature walk, getting led in a loop that pointed back to the parking, walked past 2 Germans laughing at us for getting duped by the same path as they had followed... but we had keen eyes and spotted another entrance into the forest, so we crossed a busy suburban street that feeds the highway and did find the water we'd been promised by the many signs, and though the sun was just setting on the islands and the river and it was pretty, the highway was still in sight, the roar never quiet.

We hike the 4kms of rolling, narrow, wooded trails, jump across the creek, putter with the baby around the small butterfly garden and listen to Marc and his brothers reminisce about their near fatalities on the toboggan hill and dragging their bikes up dangerous precipices.
