We had Bohmer do our Master Ensuite in 2017 and can say nothing but exceptional work done in a timely fashion, while we moved upstairs during renovations. We chose the decor and Jake and Sherri managed the deconstruction, supply and install. This included painting of both the master ensuite and our bedroom + installation of new fans, walk-in shower, walk-in closet, heated tile floors, vanity and barn doors. Jake came up with an innovative idea to resolve a complex fan installation in a peaked vaulted ceiling. The barn doors took a bit of infill construction to replace the old French doors and upper window separating the master onsite. We were also very satisfied with the expertise of their electrical, plumbing, dry-walling and painting subcontractors. After 2.5 years we are more than happy with the results and budget was kept in check on an on-going basis. We purchased a commercial space in a new building in 2018 which required considerable work to finish. Bohmer was our first choice to complete this task which included the addition of 3 separate rooms, painting and the hanging of barn doors. Time was of the essence as our tenants were preparing to move in ASAP. An estimate was completed and adjustments were several as per changing tenant requirements. Bohmer came in on time, our tenants were and still are amazed with the space. Bohmer remains our first choice in the Comox Valley for renovation. Thank you Jake and Sherri. read more

We made a mistake of hiring these contractors to do our renovation...the quality of finishes is atrocious, tiling was done very poorly... really a waste of good tiles. The flooring was done poorly as well, no sub-floor was placed and no leveling of the existing floor was done. The new flooring was cut so unevenly that the crooked edges could not be hidden by the baseboards. Oh,and the job was not finished after all, since accepting the fact that their work was shoddy was apparently below them. We had to hire a new contractor to redo much of their work (i.e. installing an entrance door properly instead of hanging it on the siding, and cutting the closet doors since the closet they made was not square or standard size), and to complete our renovation. No skill, no pride. Do not make the same mistake...just don't. read more

Had Sherri and Jake Bohmer as general contractors on a LARGE renovation, which included: a 100sq ft addition to the entryway, completely replaced the entire building envelope, the moving of several doors & windows placements, repouring my driveway with appropriate perimetre drains, removal of interior walls, replacing with new banisters and many more small finishings. Sherri and Jake are wonderful to work with. They were honest and direct, the contract was thorough and any change orders were discussed openly. Sherri understood that I needed to hold onto funds as contingency, once we knew we didn't need contingency funds we were able to add more to the work being done. Jake's building team and subcontractors were all utter gentlemen. Polite, helpful and as clean as a work site could be. Some of the interior fixtures that were delivered were not correct, Jake offered to send it back and get what we had initially ordered. But I happened to like them anyway. So Jake secured a discount from the company for the company's screw up (wrong SKU # was placed on the boxes). I have had nothing but compliments on the work from my neighbours and strangers passing by. The work took much longer than was initially anticipated - but there were weather issues, product delivery delays and holidays and some illness's along the way - aka 'LIFE.' We hired Bohmer Construction to build an addition onto the back of our house. The addition included a large shop attached to the back of the garage, a craft room/art studio and a small office attached to the back of the house. Construction started the end of Nov. 2017 and was scheduled to be completed in approximately three months. Jake and his crew worked on our house every day they said they would be there. We had a few rain days and days waiting for trades, but we usually had something being done every day. Jake and his crew were polite and friendly. The build went smoothly, we lived in our house during construction. Any problems were dealt with promptly and any changes that were needed along the way were easily dealt with. Payment and construction schedule were laid out at the beginning of the job and followed. All subcontractors were arranged by Bohmer Construction and we were very happy with the work completed in our home. I have recommended Bohmer Construction to my friends and neighbours and would definitely call them for any future projects in my home. read more

Do not hire Bohmer Construction as your "renovation specialists". We sadly made that mistake very recently. Sherri Bohmer sells Jake and his carpentry skills as top-notch, however, they are marginal at best. When you approach him to do some work, he sighs, and says, "That will take alot of work and it's not easy." He should be telling the customer that he'd be happy to do it and go over the cost at that time. They don't allow the customer to choose finishings, instead you come home to "finishings" that you would not have chosen. A good General Contractor would be happy to supply their client with samples of finishings and allow the client a final choice of said finishings. They also don't paint, or employ any painters, thus leaving their client to finish the work themselves. We had new flooring installed, which was done very well. However, we also had ceiling repairs done and you would figure that they would tackle the ceiling first, but no, instead the drywallers came in and made a complete mess of our newly installed floors. Common sense would dictate that the ceilings should be done first. They did "attempt" to clean the floors at the end of each workday, however, we would have to clean them to our satisfaction once they left. We had items in our contract that we had to remind them to do, countless times. Our project was slated for five weeks and once they had received about two thirds of the funds, they simply lost interest in our project, saying that they were really busy and they would appear sporadically during the last two weeks of the job. We had to ask them, at the end of the job to clean the garage and the driveway, which they used as their work space, even now the driveway is still not clean. We also had a powder-room remodeled and we wanted new baseboards put in. I came home to see Jake re-installing the old baseboards! When I said that we wanted the new ones put in, his answer was simply, "Oh well, too late..." Their contract stated that they would paint the newly installed baseboards throughout the house, while technically the baseboards in the powder-room were not new, they were removed and re-installed, yet not painted or caulked. We had new stairs put in and we talked to them about installing wainscoating and we met with the same "It'll take a lot of work" response. We even sent them pictures, yet they didn't get our "vision". We highly doubt that they can do this kind of intricate work. Instead we were left with a plank going up the stairs which we had to plead with them to finish. Once again, we were not allowed to choose the finishing strips and instead had to settle for the ones that they chose. And of course, we were left to pain them. A long review, I know, but buyer beware. If you have simple jobs to complete, they may be the company you want to hire, but they certainly are NOT "renovation specialists" as they claim to be. read more
