Their technicians were very mindful of keeping the clutter to a minimum and cleaned up after each days work. The install and testing took about 5 days because of the need to build a machine room and plumb the internal walls of the shaft, which was as promised. We love the elevator and it continues to work well. Paul has retired since the elevator was installed and the business is now run by his lead technician. They have several more Cambridge elevators installed in the area since ours. I expect they will be even better at both estimating and installing them now. SB

We hired McIntosh Builders to totally remodel my mother-in-law's house in Rohnert Park. The house…read morewas originally built in 1976 in the "D" section. Nothing in it had been changed except the roof several years ago and we had new windows put in about a year ago. All else was original. Further, the house was never properly drained and as such shifted from season to season on the adobe. There were few vertical doorways and windows. They worked around these issues and made fixes and necessary adjustments. The thing I was most impressed with was how well Scott McIntosh (the founder's son and current manager) ran the business and dealt with the sub contractors. Everyone was on time, did high-quality work, and treated the house with care. Scott (and his father Dave) had chosen, and work with only the cream of the crop as far as the subs go, because all of them also did excellent work. Finally, Dave Johnson the project manager, did a wonderful job of overseeing the whole thing, also dealing with and managing the subs, and some fine finish carpentry in building us a new fireplace mantel. I also want to mention and recommend two McIntosh employees who were on the job from beginning to end most days based on what was going on that day. Those two are Oscar and Soledad (I'm sorry, I don't have their last names). Not only were they extremely careful, competent, and meticulous in their work, but they were always upbeat and cheerful. Our project was a very extensive remodel and as such was always getting tweaked during the process. My wife and I would change our ideas on color, finish, design, etc throughout. They handled all easily giving their inputs as to whether it was a good idea we had or bad and why. Many times this saved us money in the end. I have full confidence in these folks. Pricing was fair (not cut-rate--beware of those folks!) and Scott was open on where the money went and how much would be needed going forward to finish. If you have a big or small remodel coming up, at least check these guys out.

I would highly recommend them! Greg came out to give me a bid in early spring. I had a couple of ideas of the color combos I wanted to go with but Alice, Greg's wife, came out to my house to help me "nail down" my choices. Her experience and input was invaluable - never have I had painter- interior or exterior- have an in-house color person. She even painted huge swaths of paint on my house to help me choose! I ended up making the best choice and am so pleased. The day to start came a few months later (they are very busy), but that was fine with me. Greg called and gave me dates. Greg then came over on a Friday I believe - power washed the entire house. They started prep on Monday. I believe they were done by Thurs - Friday. Greg and his crew were professional, neat, courteous and just super nice guys. I could go on and on about all the little things they did - but again I would recommend them to anyone! I've gotten sooo many complements from friends and neighbors!

We had to call them back to replace some of the tile they installed a little unevenly around the firebox (probably partly due to the firebox not being true) - but they did it without hesitation - even though it was a fair amount of extra work. Paul's right hand man on this job was Kurt, and he was also fantastic and very careful. The price was reasonable, and the prep he did was very good (replacing damaged drywall). He also offered us installation choices for our edges that made the most sense (compared to other quotes we received). Paul also did a great job working around our family - 2 young kids running underfoot didn't bother him at all. We felt very comfortable with him and his crew in our home.
