Will I never find any affordable vintage clothing in London? I was about to leave when I noticed a "Bargains upstairs" sign. That certainly brought a smile to my face! There seemed to be only women's items upstairs, and the prices were much better. Though not everything was vintage (a lot of Topshop in the mix), the items definitely had that timeless feel to them. I am especially excited about the 50s skirt I got for £10. Miraculously, I walked out with a total of 3 skirts for £30. Not bad. FYI, on my receipt it says "Music Exchange" so that must be the name of the business, but on the storefront you'll only notice the word "Retro" in huge white letters. Don't miss it!

This wonderfully expressive shop in West London is full of furniture and other home antiques that have all hand picked by Paul and his team of aesthetically appreciative little helpers. It's certainly very expressive of his individual taste and even the huge flower print wallpaper is characteristically charming. Some of the items are in their original state, with just a touch of refurb conservation given to spruce them up, whilst others have been upholstered with his own fabrics to give them a modern and very attractive new lease of life. There are also some quirky paintings hanging on the walls and my particular favourite, the mirrors, are something really special. Everything is a one off find so whatever you buy is guaranteed to add a talking point to your home. It's a very modern and sleek take on the olde worlde curiostity shop, so you end up 'oooooohing' and 'ahhhhhhhing' your way around, imagining how great THAT beautiful French rosewood chest-of-draws would look in your house. Unfortunately I've had to keep the land of Paul's furniture in the fantasy dolls house of my mind, as you can imagine, it's all relatively expensive reflecting the pieces unique appeal. They are usually organised in nice colour co-ordinating sections with well thought out suggestions of clothes that look well together. In particular I love their handbags! The shop is modern and the staff have always been helpful and friendly toward me. There are changing rooms toward the back and the shop is not overly crowded so it should be reasonably easy for pushchair and wheelchair users to access. The nearest car park is Christopher Place's own multi-storey car park with lifts.

Although the content of the shop is very nice, i find it a little smug. But that's just my opinion, and with 24 stores around London they're obviously doing something right!

River Islands range of clothing is great. They sell a great range of ladies clothes, also boots and shoes and a great range of accessories, i.e. handbags, belts, purses. You never have to line up for long to pay for your goods. The tills are always open and you get serve really quickly. Its very easy to walk around the store because it is very spacious with lots of space, which is ideal if you have a little un'. The changing rooms are really good. Nice and light and very big inside, which makes changing a much nicer experience. The worst part about the store is you can sometimes be waiting along time to get served, especially on a weekend.
