I was going to Dr. Chang for about five years and recently left his practice. I've always liked Dr. Chang but after my recent experience it would be silly to continue receiving care from this office. I went in last July for an eye exam and to get new glasses. Getting the glasses went great (except one issue which I'll detail at the end because it's less of a big deal to me.) During the exam, Dr. Chang identified abnormally high pressure inside my eyeballs, another pre-glaucoma warning sign. Dr. Chang prescribed alphagen, assuring me that his office could handle the preapproval which would likely be necessary as my insurance would be reluctant to cover this medication initially. I want to emphasize here that Dr. Chang's office did not call me about this once. Every single time I spoke to them it was because I called them. For the next two and a half months, I got tossed back and forth between my pharmacy and Dr. Chang's office staff. Nobody seemed to have a solution, and it eventually became clear that there was a communication breakdown between the pharmacy and Dr. Chang's office. I suspected the office was the one dropping the ball because I've never experienced this at my pharmacy before, but after roughly a month and a half I asked the office if there was another pharmacy they worked with that they could submit it to. They said that there was, they would submit the perscription there, and get things figured out. This just set off another endless back and forth. I could never get a clear answer on where things were at with the approval process, wether it was worth trying a different prescription, etc. In my last call to Dr. Chang's office, the person who helped me looked into the situation and reported back "it got denied." Of course it got denied. That was always the plan, and then they were going to pre-authorize or at least prescribe me something else. When I pointed this out to the person I was speaking with, she said she'd tell the doctor. I never heard anything from them again. I found another optometrist near me, had a great experience getting there, and learned; 1. I don't need alphagan (my eyeball pressure went down and was just at the border of needing treatment anyway) 2. The recent eye exam from Dr. Chang had returned a glasses prescription that was slightly off from what my eyes actually need. The reason I am not more annoyed at this is because Dr. Chang told me about two years ago that my prescription was slightly off because accurately writing down the correction needed for one of my eyes would result in more expensive glasses. The new optometrist seemed to think this was untrue but I have no idea. Either way, Dr. Chang should have revisited this topic with my most recent prescription if he was continuing to prescribe lenses that didn't fully correct my vision. (The difference is very slight, for the record). So basically, this place has turned into a bit of a shitshow and the problem seems to be the support staff (though it's hard to be totally sure). read more

The most FANTASTIC eye doctor in LA! I have never felt like a doctor cared more about my vision than Dr. Chang! My vision is terrible, I haven't had it checked in literally decades! I knew my left was worse than the right and I dreaded finding out just how bad it was. Dr. Chang took his time examining me, he explained exactly what was going on with my sight (nearsighted in the left and farsighted in the right) he went through several different contacts with me until we find the right fit. He also gave me the most PERFECT glasses that I swear by now! My vision has improved so much, and it's all thanks to Dr. Chang! I even recommended my boyfriend there who was in desperate need of new contacts and glasses. He had many eye problems caused by wearing contacts too long and Dr. Chang cleared his eyes right up! The truest test of a business is not how they treat you before or during the purchase process but if they address your concerns after you've purchased their services - when you come back with questions/concerns - at the time when they may not make extra money off of you but they genuinely care about your experience with them - even after you've already done business with them. Unfortunately Mr. Chang did not pass that test today. Upon going in to get my eyes tested the first time, he was incredibly nice and helpful. It was a great experience. Then, when I came back today because my glasses didn't feel right, he and his receptionist were short with me and seemed miffed that I came back. They kept saying that because I got my glasses from Warby Parker that they couldn't guarantee that they were made correctly (when they were easily able to test the Rx of the glasses). They made it more apparent that they were upset that I didn't purchase glasses with them than actually caring if my Rx was correct. I was seen late, hurriedly and was only given further instruction when I specifically asked for it ("Ok, so, what would you suggest I do?"). I would have loved to have left a better review because my initial experience was so positive but based on how I was treated today I can't. read more

My wife and I have bought expensive glasses and spent over $1,300 at this place and we have full medical coverage. We take our two sons and they tell us our insurance doesn't cover my kids. We called our insurance and they told us they do cover our kids. This place doesn't like filing the claims for the funds from insurance companies and they just try to charge us for something we are covered for and then later still collect from our medical insurance. They did this to already and they never offered us credit from that over charge. The guy is shady there and his bosses have him and the girls back on it. They are fraudulent. read more

Dr Bogard Chang is nothing like the average optometrist. He is very knowledgeable and very meticulous and takes the time to really look at your eyes and not only check your vision but he can also detect if you have abnormal conditions like cataracts etc... Things that the average optometrist wouldn't notice or look for. He really took his time with me when checking my eyes and all my questions and concerns were answered so I did not feel like just another patient on an assembly line. Love this place. Been coming here for two years now. When I first came in to get my eyes examined, the tests Dr. Chang performed showed that I needed to wear glasses. He explained to me that one of my eyes are working harder than the other, which explains why I get so tired immediately after i start to read. From the tests, he also concluded that I probably get headaches and also very light sensitive in the dark. Which is true. The glasses he prescribed was a life saver. After picking out my frames, Roger worked with me in making sure I understood all the options with the types of lenses that they offered, how my insurance benefits work, etc. This guys knows his stuff. I always go to Roger whenever I'm picking up a new pair of glasses or new lenses. He's very up to date with all the new products available. And the guys speaks from experience when recommending a product as well. I really value his opinion. Dr. Chang and Roger and the main reason I continue to come here. I've been there twice, once for my Juicy Couture glasses (which I love) and this second time for my prescription sunglasses (I took my own Coach frames in). They are patient and take their time with you. They also have a really good selection of frames. I would recommend them if you want an smooth experience. Great doctor, always quick and friendly. I was recommended by a friend and have been going to him for over a year. His staff is amazing! They have a great selection of glasses including some cool designer ones. I go for mostly contacts and they recently informed me they have the same prices as Costco and 1800-contacts. Saw Dr Bogard Chang for contact lenses on the recommendation of a friend. Super informative, friendly and an infectious personality! They also have a high end frame selection here - hard to find McQueen frames, Tom Ford and Gucci to name my favourites. Chris was really helpful guiding me through the right style and shape for my face. Super cool guy. Walked out with contacts, ordered prescription glasses for the days when I can't cope with contacts, and some rockin prescription sunglasses just because! This is a five star team. Dr. Chang is very welcoming and feels like he has been a friend of the family for years even though it was my first appointment. Roger asked if I wanted to look at glasses.
