My wife surprised me with tickets to Charlie Brown Christmas and the Colorado Symphony Orchestra. I had never seen a concert in this venue and I must say, I absolutely loved it. The sound system is state of the art and there really wasn't a bad seat in the house. We sat in the parque area and we had bench seating that was roomy and comfortable. The show itself was entertaining and well done. The performers were fantastic and humorous. It was a fun take on this Christmas classic. Getting in and out of this area of downtown sucks and I highly recommend a ride share of some kind. It it was a first rate wife and wife romantic evening at a fun concert. Let me preface by saying I'm rating the venue not the show/quality of performers. This place needs an overhaul. Seats are uncomfortable and so tight letting people through. And why can't they add more women's bathrooms or unisex bathrooms? The lines are always too long for bathrooms! Tickets are high enough that they could start making improvements. Come on. The shows are always quality and fun. We saw the symphony perform along with a movie and the experience was great. Sound quality of the movie could have been a little better, but the symphony sounded excellent. read more

I came here last night for "36 Chambers of Shaolin & A Ballet Through Mud With RZA (of the Wu Tang Clan) and The Colorado Symphony". I had no idea what to expect. How would Wu Tang rap (because he rapped & mixed some of their best songs) mix with classical music? And martial arts? And ballet? But, if you know Wu Tang Clan, you trust it will work - somehow. And it did. It was one of my favorite concert experiences. The venue was also fine. Even though I was far away in the mezzanine, since I discovered this performance the day before, with the pitch of the sear platforms, I saw the whole show just fine. The seats were comfy. The ushers were helpful. The bathrooms were expectedly busy, but well stocked. The bartenders made great drinks. There were delicious snacks. All neat & tidy. read more

Came here for Thorgy Thor and the Thorchestra last night and it was fantastic! The layout provides good visibility for every seat and the sound travelled really well. Movies with the Symphony, Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, concerts and so much more are held right here in the Boettcher Concert Hall. It's a wonderful space for a perfect night. Parking in the DPAC garage is easy if you arrive early. There's always a chance that the garage will fill up because there are other shows on the complex. The earlier you arrive the better. I suggest coming down and eating a meal before the show as it will take away some of the stress and hassle of finding a parking spot. Entering the Boettcher Concert Hall is quick and simple. The staff scan your ticket and then you go through security. They're basically looking for weapons and outside food and drink. If you're tickets aren't working, the box office desk is in the building and they are a great help. The staff are all knowledgeable and nice and are more than willing to help you if you have any questions. The Boettcher is a magnificent beauty and is the first concert hall in the United States to be built in the round. Meaning, the symphony is quite literally the center spectacle of the whole house. People often think that it looks quite small, but it actually seats more than 2,700 people. If you ever get the chance, I recommend getting a seat up in the rings. It may not have the best view of the symphony, but it creates the best sound and is a private seating area to avoid those who like to talk. The one thing that I will complain about is the seats. They are not comfortable at all. They are stick straight and have a long head rest that goes higher than your head. I get it, it's to make the sound reverberate off the back of the seat, but it makes for an uncomfortable evening. If you can get past the seats, the Boettcher makes for a nice evening filled with music, beauty and fun. read more

Treatment of patrons need to be addressed. We regularly attend events at DCPA; all venues. Boettcher Concert Hall is the worst. How they treat their patrons is horrible. Disgusting. Not a one time incident. I am very sure they do not care. read more

Music of Selena Featuring The Colorado Symphony Orchestra on Friday, March 31, 2023 I was a little optimistic about this show for one I had never been to a symphony I had worked in the background of a symphony, but never been to a performance , but sitting there and watching each section come together to make the beautiful sounds that made this show come to life was tremendously Awakening and outstanding! I don't know how many times I had tears in my eyes from the sounds that I heard in the instruments!; that I seen the people that played those instruments ! The performers playing those instruments coming together to make those wonderful sounds was just amazing! I am so glad and happy that I did go to this show We stopped to get cocktails of course before we went to get our seats. The lines were not long at all. The bartenders had great customer service and were pleasant and nice, which is a big plus for me as you all know... Everybody that was working was courteous and pleasant very well groomed and very well mannered. The whole entire evening was wonderful! We stopped to have dinner before we went to watch the show, and that will be in my other review, but yes, if you get the opportunity to go watch a symphony do so! Go there with an open mind and enjoy the sounds take it in you'll be surprised at the outcome ! When I get a chance, I will go to see another show another symphony. Beautiful Music as they say. The concert hall is relaxing and calm. Temperature is just right. Bathrooms are clean. Coatcheck is available. They have a cute gift shop with beautiful scarves and other gifts. The hall offers cocktails and snacks. Brian had a glass of Malbec. Parking is available in a garage at DPAC (Denver Performing Arts Center) $10). The horns were on point. The strings swayed in rhythm. Scott O'Neil was at the helm and commanded the performance with gusto. Crystal Monee Hall sang Etta James with high energy and grace. She has a wonderful deep voice. It was a perfect night. Located downtown Denver in the theater complex, Boettcher Concert Hall is a large circular venue with great acoustics. The venue definitely seems a bit outdated, and could use a renovation, but seating was comfortable and it seems like any seat in the venue is worthwhile. Parking is available in the complex, and there is also metered parking nearby. I was pleased with the helpful, and nice employees that took our tickets, and helped us find our seats. read more

I attended the 2018 symphony Christmas concert over the weekend -- I say "Christmas" vs. holiday because it was very, very Christ-centric. Totally fine if you are a person who truly celebrates Christmas; however if you tend to be more "middle of the road" when celebrating this time of year, it probably would've been a bit of a turn-off. It felt like a 2+ hour church session. Beyond the content of what was performed, the concert hall itself is oddly laid out. Lots of strange angles and a very small, very crowded lobby. The whole building feels antiquated, which is probably one of the many reasons why the performing arts center is getting a reboot in the years to come. The symphony and the choir are quite good! I'd be tempted to go back for a less religious experience. Without children. There were LOTS of small kids in the audience which again made it feel like church vs. a ticketed show. Definitely a hard pass on the Christmas performance and keeping an eye out for adult centric shows. read more

Somehow I have never seen a concert at Boettcher. Finally went out and saw the Colorado Symphony's showing of Psycho last night (they play the score as the movie plays in the background). The theater itself is nice enough. Stage in the middle with seats that surround. The seats were roomy enough, but quite honestly needed a bit more cushion. Not to mention it was sweltering hot in there. I mean I was really uncomfortable most of the night. I guess they figured it was October and they didn't need A/C? They are wrong. I doubt there is a bad seat in the house, we sat up close and the only negative I can say is 3 rows back the conductor blocked part of the screen (projecting the movie). It was a OK experience, but I have had better at other venues. read more

Just watched The Colorado Symphony perform the The Nightmare Before Christmas live!! It was amazing!! The Boettcher Concert Hall is very nice and the acoustics are, of course, fantastic. They have very friendly staff and it doesn't take long to grab a drink, since there are a ton of bars. They have a coat check as well. I will admit, though, that we found the theater seats to be rather uncomfortable, even for a shorter performance. Other than that, the symphony itself is incredible!! read more

Walking under the arched glass covering to a DCPA venue during a snowstorm makes you realize what a world class arts facility we've got here in Denver. And the Boettcher Concert Hall is one of its premier buildings. You enter a lobby area that's inviting and well laid out. The acoustics of the performance hall are wonderful. There are no bad seats in the house, and the seats themselves are high-backed and comfortable, with excellent spacing between rows. Saw the Colorado Symphony there last night, accompanying the Celtic Woman group in their closing tour performance. Excellent in all regards. We're subscribers and go regularly during the season. We like the food choices (Limelight Cafe's one of our regular pre-show quick/good dinner spots), and the parking garage is convenient and fairly priced ($10 for the night). So Denver's cultural arts center, it turns out, is just like Charlie Sheen: Winner Winner Winner! (;-) read more

Boettcher serves as the home for our Colorado Symphony Orchestra, and boy do they need our support right now! Unfortunately, even international stars can struggle to sell out the venue. If you purchase your tickets online, you may initially be confused by the seating charts. There are tons of pricing options, and - what this? The first row is cheap? Well, for the CSO, prime acoustics = prime seating. Trust me, you don't want to be sitting too close to any instrument in particular as you can lose nuance in the performance as a whole. But, if you don't have a super-trained ear, you should be happy pretty much anywhere. During CSO performances they offer snacks and bar beverages before the show and during intermission. If you're there to see your favorite performer, make sure to check and see if they're doing a signing after the performance (many do). A bonus for me: CSO audiences tend to be classier than any other audience. I'm so sick of sitting next to some pig who is smacking their gum, texting their friend, or chowing down on their candy. As they say before most performances: "Every sound counts." BE QUIET. Please and thanks! read more

Beautiful venue with good acoustics and a good angle of rise for seats so that everybody can see the stage. Seats were ok for comfort level (not great, not terrible). Due to the discounted kids tickets, it's more likely than not that you'll have some near you. The ones next to us weren't particularly bad, but the constant fighting with their parents two seats over clashed a bit with the eloquence of the orchestra. The reason for 2 stars is there was little to no air conditioning and I was sweating the whole time - wasn't even wearing a sports jacket or something to make me hot. Will try going back once more to see if maybe it was a fluke that it was so hot, but if it's hot again, the next time will be the last time. Note that I was on mezzanine 6, which is toward the upper part of the concert hall, which might have attributed to the heat. Not sure though since it was only 70-80 degrees outside so it's not like their AC system would have had to work hard to keep a reasonable temperature. Will try orchestra 1 next time so I'm as low as it gets ;) read more

The Denver Perfoming Arts complex is just very well done overall. This was the last space for me to attend a concert/performance and it did not disappoint. The space was clean, well lit and the employees were friendly and helpful. We did find the space a little hard to navigate through in finding our seats and the hallways seem long and as if you are going into a back restricted area. Better signage that is more clear would be lovely. We also found the seats to be a bit uncomfortable and I kept shifting in my seat to find the sweet spot which I never did. With that being said, I don't think you can find a bad spot in the house and the music came through beautifully. read more

The hall is the home to the Colorado Symphony. The acoustics for an orchestral concert are pretty good as long as you sit in the middle. The stage is in-the-round, so seats to the sides and behind the orchestra sound significantly worse. Still, a great place to see classical music. Amplified music does not fare very well here. The movie screenings with live orchestra use screens that are too small and in the corners of the room. The acoustics makes it difficult to hear the dialog from the film. read more

The Orchestra was amazing. Tchaikovsky's No. 1 Symphony. I bought my ticket the day of the show a couple hours before because I had just flown in. I called previous to get some insight on the Concert Hall. John was extremely helpful, loved his advice and overall personality!! I sat in Ring 3 which is the suggested ring. I liked the height and i was able to see a good amount but the decor on the ceiling was very distracting. they looked like light covers but their were no lights within them. their was also some confetti on some and they looked like they haven't been clean in a while. the actual concert hall gets 2 stars but because John, the concert staff was so helpful and friendly over the phone and again when i went to pick up my ticket gets 5 stars, i will give them a between four stars. read more

Stopped by on a glorious "pre spring" Sunday for a matinee performance and Boettcher Concert Hall still is the Grand Dame of Denver. The space is intimate based upon performances I've seen at the Met, it's just perfect for Denver!! To describe the listing experience is tough to write about because each seat has exceptional views and due to the acoustic nature of the space you hear everything from the haunting tone of the oboe to the body resonating string bass. It's an experience that somehow is made just for your personally and that's why you need to go and let Boettcher do for you what it did for us..change our life! read more

Very nice. We attended the Denver Symphony Orchestra Pops Concert featuring Big Bad Voodoo Daddy on Saturday. This was our first visit to the Boettcher. Excellent acoustics and comfortable seating. Denver has an excellent symphony orchestra, and this venue compares favorably to several major concert halls in the U.S. and Europe we've been fortunate to visit during our travels while I was in the Army. But no fifth star. Prices are way too high. We paid almost $200.00 (face value - I won't do business with scalpers) for a pair of seats in the last row of the third orchestra. Not bad seats, but when I pay that kind of money I want to be more up close and personal with the performers. By comparison, I discovered that next month BBVD are appearing at Monmouth College in West Long Branch, NJ in a theater comparable to the Boettcher. We'll be there for a family visit, so what the heck...let's go again! I scored a pair of third row center seats for $74.00. read more

We've been to 2 concerts here (Jurassic Park and Distant Worlds/Final Fantasy). The orchestra is fantastic, however the seats in the hall are incredibly uncomfortable! I've left with a backache both times and find myself shifting in my seat throughout the concert. It has also been super hot in the hall both times we went, as others have mentioned. They sell a variety of beverages (water, coffee, bottled beer, wine, cocktails) ranging anywhere from $4-13. Overall, it's a great place to spend an evening and ticket prices are reasonable. The signage is clear and it was easy to find parking and navigate our way through the hall. read more

I recently saw Handel's Messiah here and was really impressed! The sound is phenomenal. The show wasn't even close to sold out so there was plenty of seating available. There are plenty of attendants at all the doors for questions too. I do like that the parking garage in really close as well, and there are valet options, if you are running late. Gotta love $10 student tickets for the Masterwork Series! I've probably ventured over to DCPA 5 times in the last six months to see CSO perform, and they never fail to impress. Some seats are definitely better than others, I would avoid anything within close proximity of the stage, it really manages to mess the sound up. I also don't like sitting near the horns, as they seem to drown other things out when nearby. Most recently, I went to a show that was headlined by Strauss's Also Sprach Zarathusta, and the famous introduction was nothing less than incredible. As always, there were musicians milling around the crowd after the show, and the vast majority of them are friendly and receptive. read more

What a wonderful venue. The Ladyfriend and I visited on a recent evening to hear Schubert's Unfinished Symphony, with visiting conductor Gilbert Varga. There's no a bad seat in the house, from a view perspective, and to mine untrained ears it wouldn't seem that there's a bad spot acoustically either. They've done a top notch job of design and layout for Boettcher. Staff, as always at the DCPA is 80% friendly with a chance of crusty, but they're by and large great people. Except for the one asshat a few rows over who, during the 2nd movement of the first piece, audibly insisted that he had no idea how to turn his phone off (Well, sir, would you buy a car if you didn't know how to turn it off?) the patrons were wonderful as well. I wouldn't begin to pretend to know much about classical music, but don't find the sort of thing boring either. It was a great time, wonderful music, excellent artists and a really wonderful facility. read more

I love good music. All music really, but there is something about Mozart and Strauss that moves me, and the CSO does it as good as anyone! If you've never been, you must go. Go early and stay late as there are tons of good places to go before and after a show. There is nothing better than a date night during the summer with drinks, classical music and dinner. The Concert Hall was nice enough. It didn't really look like there was a bad seat in the house. I'm sure music afficionados would disagree with me and cite the perfect zone of music listening, but to my ears it didn't look like there'd be a bad place to sit. The seats were wooden with a little bit of padding and not very wide, so the comfort level dropped after a little while. And it felt like the air conditioning was turned off, cause I was sweating from the moment I walked in the door, and it never really stopped. read more

Everyone must visit this iconic Denver building to see a concert and support your local arts. Boettcher is a fantastic venue and host to our wonderful Colorado Symphony Orchestra that never fails to deliver an incredible musical experience. Unique among concert halls, Boettcher is shaped like a giant fishbowl, so no matter where you sit, you have an excellent view of the stage. The acoustics are wonderful as well; the soloists are not mic'ed but are still clearly audible above the orchestra. Boettcher also hosts some eclectic and wonderful collaborations with bigger pop/alternative artists that are really fun to see. Student tickets are $10 as well, so you have no excuse not to go. Hey I've been here! In 2007, in fact! We saw the best performing arts ever. We learned about orchestra music and the art of the musical assembles! The room is crazy dark and very roomy. I sat literally in the front row and saw the magic come to live. I thought the first time the instrument performed, it echoed so gracefully, that I felt like I was in a different state of mind. We came here for a field trip by our band teacher and saw the most coolest performers ever. I'm definitely happy I found this place once again. read more

Just saw Gregory Alan Isakov with the Colorado symphony and it was unbelievable. Amazing sound and atmosphere. I loved the setup with seating surrounding the whole stage. Really not a bad seat in the house and you could really feel the whole performance. I would highly recommend seeing a concert here. You won't regret it. read more
