A lovely piece of work that decorates the Worthing Seafront. It was paid for by public subscription and was started and finished in 1903. Unveiled on 08/08/1903. It honours the Fallen during the South African War 1899 1902. It is a polished obelisk of red/grey granite with sans-serif lettering. It faces South and has a semi circle of flag poles to the rear.
Interestingly, Private Wiliiam Cooper's name is carved here. He fought at Rorke's Drift against the Zulus in 1879 read more
