With that said; here are some insights that may be helpful: 1) You can see by the examples I've attached, he takes pride in his craft. Great detail work/realism and a good knack for placing tattoos in the proper place. 2) Pricing was always fair. You get what you pay for - quality work done with quality ink in a sanitary environment. 3) John has always kept to his schedule and was always ready to start tattooing upon my arrival to his shop. Sessions for large pieces go from anywhere between 3-4 hours. 4) his shop is clean and his tattoo area is organized. He always sanitizes the area you are getting tattooed before, during, and after the tattoo. 5) John has a great personality - we got a long great from the get go. He's super easy to talk to. 6) His shop is consistently booked so be patient getting a time slot booked. That was the first thing that shocked me - how far out he is usually booked; sometimes months. It's worth the wait though! In conclusion, I definitely recommend going here if you're looking for a tattoo artist in the Butler area.

He's also an awesome conversationalist while tattooing so if you're worried about pain that really helps! Plus, the prices are so fair; I got my biggest tattoo here and it was less than some of my smaller tattoos I had gotten elsewhere! And with that being said, the quality is still never compromised for the good price. Overall each time has been a great experience at In the Blood... I went to see CC Daniel's at in the Blood Tattoo. I made an appointment beforehand & sent…read morereferences of a design she had already done before with edits that I wanted that would make the tattoo more personal for me. The most important thing for me was requesting curly hair on this character as a person of color, I just wanted something that I could identify with. When I came in for my appointment, CC presented me with a design that incorporates all of the changes I asked for except for the curly hair. I asked about this and she said she would fix it. When I came back to the room, she had in fact not updated her stencil, but instead tells me that she can just work with the reference and do what I had asked originally. I have never been more upset at trusting a professional with more than 20 years of experience. The end result is a hair design that is not at all what I asked for and I cannot understand how much you would have to dehumanize someone to pretend to do what I consented to but permanently etch squiggles instead. I tried very hard to be open to the change but at the end of the day it's not the composition or design that I requested. They immediately have you fill out paperwork when you come in to waive away any right for legal pursuit, so I know there isn't much I can do, but I want to prevent this from happening to anyone else as I am looking forward to having this design lasered off as soon as it heals. I have had good experience with In The Blood in the past but I do not recommend this artist CC Daniels if you are a person of color requesting anything Afrocentric as she does not have the skill set, but will pretend she does and give you something you didn't ask for.

I didn't think it was possible to get the level of detail and color and crispy lines down in such a huge tattoo in the time we did, but he powered through the 6 hours! I will absolutely go back here and to Fantasy Tattoos for more.

The next day when I went in & to my surprise he drew up (as a suggestion) purple as a background color instead of black. Devin said that just turquoise & black might be a little bland &/or dark, and he thought purple and turquoise would look perfect! It was even more beautiful than I imagined and I knew that was MY tattoo! Isn't that what you want in a tattoo artist? Mike does phenomenal work, and I definitely recommend him to everyone who asks about my tattoos. The shop is spotless, and all of the artists are talented. The only downside I can possibly think of is that Mike is good enough that he is often booked for several months in advance, but it is always worth the wait. Also, a nice quality about this shop is that you can pay with a credit/debit card, but if you pay in cash, you get a slight discount.

I had scheduled a surprise tattoo for my dad for his birthday at Klexos with Tre Maxwell. I reached…read moreout to Tre via Instagram and the first thing he said was that surprise tattoos usually don't go over so well, which makes sense. However, it was a tattoo my dad had been wanting for years and had asked me to find him an artist for years. So he knew about it, just not that I found an artist and was going to pay for it. On my dad's birthday I told him the surprise and the day before the tattoo appointment my dad called me... to cancel. He had gotten sick. I messaged Tre as soon as I could but I knew with the late notice and my first time to this artist I would lose my deposit. I asked Tre if I could take the appointment in exchange so I wouldn't lose the deposit and Tre would still make a paycheck roughly the same amount my dad's tattoo would have been. We worked together to find an idea and the next time I showed up for my impromptu tattoo appointment. I had never been to Tre before so I had to fill out some typical forms and then we started shortly after. His stencils were perfect in size and we hard had to wait before he began tattooing. Tre was very informative and explained everything very well even though I already have tattoos which I appreciated and respected. He warned me tattoos on the back of my thighs is a rough spot but I sat as well as I could. He was professional and friendly. I had brought a book to read but Tre and I ended up chatting all 4-5 hours the tattoo went on for. We took a few 5-15 minute breaks and Tre even bought us sushi near the end. He charges pretty steep for his art but the tattoos are worth it. He gave me aftercare and I will 100% be returning. Side note: the shop is also pretty cool with snacks and drinks free to all and artwork available to buy. There are many artists in the shop and many different styles to choose from. Thank you Tre!
