My Story: Since college, I've struggled with a form of the OCD trichotillomania (hair-pulling disorder) that affects primarily my eyebrows and eyelashes. At 43, I have few eyelashes and no eyebrows from continual pulling. About 10 years ago, I went to a professional makeup artist to have my eyebrows tattooed, and I was pleased with the results. However, after 10 years of constant sun and weather exposure, as well as regular daily skin care procedures, the tattoos have faded, which means that I use them as a guide to apply pencil, but that's about it. When I first heard about Enhanced by M, one of my best friends from work had gone there to get her brows microbladed. When she showed the pictures, I couldn't believe how beautiful and natural they looked! I reached out to Maggie to inquire if this would be an appropriate procedure for me. Once I sent her a picture I took of my naked face (something I rarely do!), she honestly responded that microblading was probably not the best option for me, but then told me about a new procedure called the "powder brow." Intrigued, I asked her to send me pictures, and when I saw them, I knew I wanted to try it. Maggie was nothing but helpful throughout the entire process. We communicated through Facebook Messenger, and any time I reached out to her, she answered me in less than a day. Once we made the appointment, she emailed me the necessary paperwork, which was thorough with regards to procedure expectations and detailed instructions for before and after the procedure. I couldn't wait for my appointment! When I showed up for my appointment, Maggie was wearing her mask and standing in the middle of her tastefully decorated and homey office waiting to greet me. She went over all my paperwork, especially the medical part, to make sure that this would be a safe procedure for me. Then we started going over the steps of the procedure, which was extensive. However, she talked me through everything, from choosing the right shade, to the process she would use to map out my brows, to how she would complete the tattooing. She took as much time as I needed to review colors and shapes. Before she started, Maggie took several pictures (with my permission) of my old brows (what little was there). When mapping out my brows, she noticed that in my previous cosmetic tattooing experience, the technician had tattooed one brow slightly higher than the other, so before she started anything, she explained how (since she would be applying my brows evenly) the higher brow might still show, although very lightly as the ink had faded greatly. She discussed options with me for potential future tattoo removal and left it open to me to decide if that would be something I wanted to do at our touch up appointment in 4-6 weeks. The actual process of tattooing my brows started about an hour and a half to two hours into my appointment. Maggie completed one pass with no numbing agent, and it was a bit painful. She asked me several times if I was alright. At the end of the first pass, she asked me how significant the pain was on a scale of 1-10. I said that the tails were about a 7, but closer to the center it was about an 8. Fortunately, she applied lidocaine to my brow bone for the next few passes, and I barely felt anything at all. She ended up applying six passes to each brow. A few times I had to ask for more numbing agent, which she was more than willing to apply for me to feel the least discomfort. After every couple of passes on each brow, she stopped to show me her progress, and I grew more and more excited for my new look. When she was close to finished, Maggie asked me to look carefully from all angles in several different mirrors and with different lighting to make sure that I felt completely satisfied with how the brows looked. I did have a few questions about symmetry and shading, which she addressed. Before I left, Maggie took more pictures and asked me to share daily pictures with her to see how the healing occurred in real time. As I viewed my new brows completely finished for the first time, I teared up ... They looked fantastic! The procedure had taken four hours from start to finish, and every minute was worth it. Not only did I have a new, incredible look, but I had made a new friend. Maggie was a professional in every sense of the word, and you could tell that she loves what she does because it makes women feel confident and beautiful.
