THIS BUSINESS IS A JOKE!!! THEY WILL NEVER SEE A PENNY OF MY $$$ AGAIN!!! My 9 year-old daughter just completed an entire season (9/10/17 - 6/17/17) of Ballet classes at BodyMoves. She was supposed to be in a class for 9 - 12 year olds, but that abruptly changed when the business lost a new dance teacher at the start of the season. Basically, this teacher left without any notice the following day of work...but now I understand why, since this business is so mismanaged. Instead, the business decided to combine my daughter's class with the Pre-Ballet class comprised of 3 - 5 year olds. Now, let's fast forward to the end-of-year showcase that took place yesterday (6/17/17). This event took place at Crossland High School. According to the written program that everyone received upon entering the auditorium, my daughter's ballet class was supposed to perform 2nd, after an opening performance from her instructor. The co-owner (part of a husband/wife team), serving as the MC of the program announced that there would be changes to the written program. Based on these changes, my daughter's class was up first with their, "Infusion" dance number. At the start of the "Infusion" dance performance, I had noticed that only the 3-5 year olds were on the stage. The little ones danced for 3-minutes or so, and then my daughter's age group hit the stage. My daughter and the other 9-12 year olds were only on the stage for about "10 SECONDS" when the music and lights abruptly shut off. Of course, I'm a bit confused and distraught, wondering what happened to the performance my daughter spent 10-months rehearsing for. During the 15-minute intermission, I had spoken with the MC (co-owner) about my confusion around my daughter's "10 second" performance -- and I wanted to know if my daughter's class would have an opportunity for perform their piece in the show. He claimed that he didn't know anything about this, and that the show would continue on "as-is" with no additional performances. My family in attendance (including me) were absolutely disgusted by the whole ordeal. After the show, I headed to pick-up my daughter from the dressing room. I had asked her what had happened. Basically, my daughter stated that the stage manager had messed up the music to her team's performance -- hence, the reason why her performance only lasted 10-seconds (versus 4-minutes). When my family member asked my daughter's instructor why she was unable to dance, the instructor stated that he wanted for the girls to take the stage again for their performance -- but was told by the co-owner (Toni Baptiste) that wasn't happening because she wanted to end the show "On Time". Toni's ridiculous stance cheated by daughter and her peers out of a ballet performance they had practiced 10-months for. The silly thing is that I had to purchased a $100 tutu costume that my daughter only wore for 10-seconds. Honestly, I may seek legal action against this business...their poor decision-making needs to be accounted for. read more

This is the worst Aftercare program in Fort Washington, Maryland. The owner does not care about children at all. All she cares about is money. She has a good attitude when you call about information and register your child, but once you are in and enrolled, her true colors show. She is so unprofessional with a snotty attitude. I found out that she has no background in child care, until she decided to open a dance studio and wanted to add aftercare to it. The staff is inexperienced. They are always out of ratio and never have the correct amount of staff with the children. They are the worse. I just learned that all Maryland Child Cares can be checked on the Maryland Child Care site and Body Moves Aftercare have numerous regulation issues. First and foremost, my child never even got to enroll because I called and sent numerous amounts of e-mails....to no avail! I can't say much about them except that they don't return your calls when you leave more than one message and they don't return your e-mails either. Received an email from co-owner of Bodymoves, Toni Baptiste where she encouraged me to take them to small claims court because they will continue to send invoices and send me to collections for me to pay for three weeks (last week and this week and next week!) although my daughter attended for only three days. read more

My son went here for the school year for before and after care. They opened early and provided breakfast. They also give him opportunities to play outside. I do wish they were a bit Patient when it came to children with special needs. They tried and st sometime I felt all I heard was complaining. read more

Khadija, Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I, too, experienced a general lack of willingness to act in the children's best interests and a below par standard of service at BodyMoves. For other parents here are some things to consider: Body Moves Staff may not be fully trained to work with the diverse children and personalities that they serve. My child was teased for being "gay", another disabled child was callously labelled "Special Ed" . . . now get this . . . by the Counselors! Little to no redress by the "management". Body Moves Management is confused about the documentation standards for the MD Health Inventory. I was repeatedly told that, after enrolling my child in early 2013, that I needed to pay for another Health Inventory form at the beginning of the next school year - and that I had to use an old MD OCC form! Does that make sense? I ended up paying something like $50.00 to my pediatrician for form fees. I doubt the file is even up to date. Body Moves Owners holds out the relatively untrained staff, as part of their child care services, as being capable of providing at least 3rd and 4th grade level homework assistance. Yet each time that I checked my child's homework it was filled with numerous errors for simple arithmetic and spelling. What makes the service even worse? They want to make you pay for it! Body Moves Owners regularly charge fees that are not completely accounted for in their online or front desk billing. Good luck trying to get an accurate accounting, if you have a Flexible Spending Account, that reflects child care services, as distinguished from other paid expenses. (Let's hope that for her own sake Ms. Baptiste has accounted how she applied monies to funds for these accurately). Tuition is due on Mondays. However, if you pay in the Center in cash do not be surprised if you find that you somehow have have a late fee. Next thing you know you are getting an email that there is some petty balance owed ($20.00) that was not communicated via the in-person or online accounting. Body Moves Owners have a misguided sense of their duty to provide information for federal taxes/child care subsidies. I still have not received an itemized accounting for my taxes for 2012 (Luckily, I kept every receipt submitted to my FSA provider)! For 2013, I was told, that, despite my withdrawal, I would not get a tax receipt until I paid in full for two-weeks notice. Now wouldn't the IRS want to know and be able to cross-reference how BodyMoves is accounting for those pre-tax dollars spent at their establishment? Sound foolishly vindictive or just foolish? Either way that's the type of service provided by Tony Baptiste. Like Khadija, after a few months of enduring these "red flags", I did my due diligence and reviewed BodyMoves Better Business Bureau 'B' rating and the Maryland Office of Child Care www.CheckCCMD.org list for Bodymoves director and staff trainings. To be fair, BodyMoves is not a Better Business Bureau member - and the owners tend to try to resolve the issues. . . ONLY AFTER they arise. But to be accurate, it looks like Bodymoves was out of compliance with a number of requirements by the Maryland Office of Child Care in November 2012 and November 2013 (please note the date of this review). It is a real shame on co-owner Tony Baptiste, and her husband, that they will not take up the torch to improve their community service to children. The burden of adequate precaution in ensuring adequate safeguards are in place for promoting a respectfuly, educational and professional environment is so low in comparison to the risk of harm to school age children and the magnitude of harm to developing young minds. Body Moves is a great place for before/after care for your children. However, the staff is very unprofessional, rude, and immature. My daughter has been going there since the start of the school year on August 22, 2011 and I have had more than enough problems, from the afternoon employee forgetting to put my daughter's name on the dinner account, on several occasions, to them laughing at my daughter while she is in dance class. They are also suppose to help your children with homework, which does not happen. I do not depend on them to help her, however, if you offer homework assistance, live up to your rules. I will be taking my daughter out of Body Moves within the next two weeks, and she has only been there 3 months. I also plan on meeting with the director, which I have heard fromother parents, won't go so well. So I will keep you posted. Until Body Moves gets a more professional, positive, and mature staff, I would not recommend sending your child there. read more
