I was able to keep driving my car while they waited for parts to come in. I only had to be without a car for one day. I've been going to Fischer for the past 10+ or so years. Now, with a teenage driver in the home, we have even more reasons to see Dave Jr. Luckily, none of our issues have been major - just little dings and stuff to our cars. Dave is a "straight shooter." He tells it as he sees it. He has always told me the "right way" to fix something and "the much cheaper, but good enough, way" and allowed me to decide which I want. He tells it like it is. And then he does a great job of whichever approach you choose. I've come across my share of all kinds of trades people over the years (I'm in my 50's). When you find the right ones, keep them on your team. Rear window on my 2002 330i would no longer roll-up on a Friday (just as weather is starting to get cold in NYC and a 200+ mile round trip out to Montauk planned for the weekend). Called Dave at 5:00 PM on a Friday who picked up, diagnosed the issue and told me to come by Sat AM. He didn't have the part on him on such short notice but went through the time and effort to open up the panel and manually roll-up the window so I could use the car this weekend as a courtesy. Took my car in to get fixed and they set everything up, ordered the parts and called me to set an appointment when they received them. Brought the car in and it was ready in a few days. They went above and beyond. Fixed the issues and also fixed an issue that had nothing to do with why I brought my car in and did not charge me a thing for it. Went to Fischer after receiving an exorbitant claim from some jerk on rt 22. When I arrived at Fischer randomly Sat morning with a sob story about damage on my car Dave Jr was more than happy to come take a look. He gave it a once over and since the only real issue was the runner that popped off he assured me he could fix it in under an hour. I couldn't stay but I went back Monday and sure enough the work was done quickly and with a smile. This seems to be a family business run with integrity and that's so hard to find these days. I do have some minor body work that needs to be done under the runner but until I can save money they at least made my car look pretty again. Thank you so much Dave!!!! Went in last Saturday afternoon on a whim to get an estimate for some minor body damage to my jeep. Dave Jr was there and took the time to explain what needed to be done to the car. The estimate he gave me was a fantastic deal (a place I went to a few weeks earlier quoted me twice what Dave did). Dropped my car off with Dave on Weds, and it was ready by Friday. After being very upset about a recent minor damage to my car, I turned to yelp to help me find an auto body place and decided to give Fischer a try. I went in for a quick on the spot estimate. He showed me there was only one piece broken that could be orderd and repaired for an extremely fair price. I think it was Dave who ordered the part and it was done in only two hours the next business day. He also took away all black marks and even used some touch up paint to make it look its best, all included in the estimate and it wasn't a penny more. If you are really upset about your recent fender bender and you need some things to go right in your life, count on Fischer Auto for quality, honest service at a fair price. Oh my gosh. I've never written a reviewe about an auto body work place. But I had to--I was just so happy with the customer service and the work they did. I ruined my front bumper during the winter on ice..both sides of the bumper. It looked ugly. Got a couple of estimates and decided not to get it fixed...places on South Avenue in Garwood/Westfield border. A friend recommended Body by Fischer..I stopped by for an estimate. The owner, Dave, was SO nice and grew me a price lower than the other two estimates. I dropped the car off..didn't have a ride two days later to go pick it up so his son came to my house to pick me up and take me to the shop. They did an outstanding job. .. CLEANED the car before I picked it up!!! Bumper looks brand new. I would totally, definitely recommend this auto body shop. I am going to post this on their website also. read more

Went to Fischer after a friend recommended them. Had an incident with my back car door and the garage door... I didn't know what to expect, but Dave Jr. gave me a very fair estimate to fix my back door. He said it would be one price to fix the dents and he also gave me an estimate to replace the door, since some of the rubber was scratched on the inside. I brought it in a few days later, they hammered out the dents and it looked like nothing had happened. I was so pleased! They charged me what the estimate was -- no hidden costs or unexpected charges, and very reasonable. They are good, honest men and I highly recommend this body shop if you need work done! read more

Every body shop I went to gave me an outrageous estimate and then someone suggested I see BWBF. I've never gone to anyone else since then. I was very disappointed with the treatment I received from Dave Starr, Sr. when I came to pick up my repaired vehicle. The work, as many have stated, was excellent, however, someone failed to contact the insurance company that was paying for the repair to discuss the difference between their estimate and Fischer's. When I dropped off the car, Dave Sr. said that he didn't know anything about the faxed estimate from Liberty Mutual, but that his son, Dave Jr., probably had it and they knew what to do. When I arrived to get my car, payment in full was expected, and I was unable to use a credit card. Having already dropped off my rental, I had no choice but to pay the full amount which was $128.63 more than the insurance company had given me. I was extremely upset about this, and after discussing it in the parking lot with my friend who had dropped me off, I attempted to return to the office to discuss stopping payment on the check until I could resolve the issue with the insurance company. Despite the sign saying the hours were until 6:00 that Friday, Mr. Starr apparently closed up shop after our transaction and left. Further attempts to resolve this issue have been unsuccessful. I did not cause the accident, but ended up paying for it. I truly believe that the body shop knew the proper protocol for handling the difference in estimates, but failed to do what was required. Having never had an accident before, I was unaware of how this should be handled. I guess the lesson I learned is to use the repair shop that the insurance company recommends so that no cost is incurred by the accident victim. read more
