I have learned to be more relaxed, efficient and thoughtful in the way I use and move my body. I used to have constant pain in my lower back, mostly from pushing my back too hard and not having an understanding of how I was using my back. I'm a 45 year old apprentice in the electricians union (IBEW L.U. 595) and I was afraid that I wouldn't last long in the trade due to some of the physical demands placed upon me. In the time I've been studying with Evelyn, I have been less fatigued and more efficient in the way I approach my work. Where I've seen the largest improvement is in the lack of struggle and back pain from carrying a 22 pound backpack a mile to and from my current job site. I've been applying some of the techniques I've learned in my lessons in other aspects of my life, such as, sitting, standing and playing my guitar and piano.

My posture definitely improved. People who have not seen me for a while have commented on it and I notice a difference in photos of myself. The real surprise though, is that as I continued to practice, I found that by being made aware of where I was holding or clenching muscles, I was able to practice letting them go and relieve pain I'd come to accept as a part of life. I had pain in my shoulders and neck that physical therapy, massage, and acupuncture would relieve short-term, but it would always come back. Working with Evelyn showed me that I was causing the pain by tightening the muscles in that area involuntarily. As I learned to notice and relax the muscles, the pain has reduced dramatically. I'm now using the technique on my TMJ and jaw tension. All in all, it's a great tool and Evelyn is a great teacher. Try it out if you have bad posture and want to look better or have chronic back pain. Prices are very reasonable and I always leave feeling super relaxed.

I've only had one session, but Kendal's approach did reflect what an NMR therapist ought to do given the research I did about NMR muscle testing. I've scheduled another session too. Overall, not a massage session, but I think NMR approach is the way to go to resolve a problem area that has always been a problem, but only recently (the last couple of years) has prompted me to find longer-lasting relief and increased mobility (i.e., ROM). Kendal is a great too!!! Explains what she is going to do and why and what I should feel in that particular area. Tips: Street parking only. The thing I like best about this style of chiropractic treatment, ART, is that there is an emphasis on healing in just a visit or two if possible and teaching you how to manage the injury or weakness through taping and/or exercises. This visit was for knee pain, some related to IT band tightness. Jess did some deep tissue work on the IT band with a pain-relieving lotion then did cupping with a little Chinese cupping therapy kit. With the cups in place she moved my leg in a way it wasn't able to move before she began the treatment because it was too painful. She explained that how she was using them was different than Chinese medicine because she wasn't using meridians. The cupping looked really freaky. Big disks of my skin were sucked up into the cups and the skin turned reddish purple. It can leave round bruises but I didn't get any. She slid the cups around a little with the aid of the lotion on my skin. She told me that I could purchase an inexpensive kit online and treat myself with the cups. I found a small one for about $15 and it has helped a lot. She also put two lengths of spider tech kinesiology tape around my knee to stabilize it. I've tried to replicate this at home though it is hard to get in the same exact spot but I think it has helped some anyway. She also suggested biking to strengthen my quadriceps. In any case, one visit with helpful suggestions and my knee is on the way to better when healing had been stuck. Highly recommended.

Dr. Medina's calm demeanor was a balm for my jangled nerves when I first showed up--and she helped me through many months of recovery after foot surgery. I also had the pleasure of working with Dr. Diehl, who always patiently answered my many questions, cheered me on, and made me feel relaxed with his easy bedside manner and sense of humor. I even got to work with Dr. Gee a few times when he covered for folks who were out, which was fantastic because I got a fresh perspective on my issues. The PT assistants Claire, Kyle, and Amara were super helpful and friendly. And, of course, Nina was the delightful "face" of the business when I came through the door and opened my email, no matter how many schedule changes I needed to make. When we come in as patients, I know it can make us feel vulnerable, maybe even a tiny bit broken (I recall Dr. Diehl replying to that sentiment by saying I was just slightly and temporarily bent, not broken :) ). Despite that feeling, or even because of that, I encourage folks to show up open to the experience. For me, the more I was willing to connect with the good people at G-Sports, the more I got out of it. Thank you for helping me unbend all my bent parts, G-Sports!
