Our family was involved in an accident and chose to have S&W complete the repairs. Upon completion,…read moreS&W collected payment, oddly only $500, which we questioned - but were assured was the correct amount. This morning the vehicle involved was towed due to an unpaid balance, from the hospital as one of our family member was receiving Cancer treatments. The attempts to collect, according to S&W were "unsigned for / undelivered" letters and "voicemails" which they assure were left. We can confirm that when we were finally contacted (nearly 6 months after the work had been completed,) a very rude and unprofessional clerk threatened to take the issue "to the next level" if the balance was not settled - again any unpaid balance was a result of S&Ws error and was never contested on our part. There was no need for a threat, that was extremely unprofessional. In speaking to S&W moments ago, I attempted to provide all of the details, including our focus on Cancer treatment for a family member and absolutely no intent on not paying - again we were the ones who questioned the amount initally collected. It was however made crytal clear that it was our responsibility ensure correct amount had been charged and the fact that the vehicle was towed from the hospital was not their concern and the owner of S&W could not be expected to "eat the cost" of the towing fee - we however, a local working family - could. I reiterate, the unpaid balance was never contested and it was also not communicated via a confirmed communication, when finally communicated it was done so via a threat eventhough the mistake was initially S&Ws. Please think twice when choosing where to send your business. Not all local businesses operate in an ethical manner nor are concerned about the effect of their mistakes/actions on the community in which they prospered from. EDIT: We've now happily settled the oustanding initial balance and VERY reluctantly paid the towing fee - the vehicle is needed for transport to/from cancer treatments and work and S&W did not seem at all moved to even compromise on the amount. I was also told that while my story was factual, if I did not remove / change my comments that they may be forced to respond. I assume they meant respond to my post, but you can never be too safe so I've slightly modified my post and paid the balance. Be aware of where you spend your hard earned $....

My family had decided to try out Arturo's for the first time when my Mom's engine went out in her…read morecar. He accepted the job and then told us he doesn't do any engine work, meaning he was going to fix it with another mechanic. Off the bat I should have knew it wasn't gonna be done professional after he told us that. After two weeks he says a brand new engine would cost $8000 not including labor. If I'm not mistaken a brand new engine on the market for my moms car was half that. After that we asked to see where he got the engine quoted he called his parts guy and he just told us that's just how much it is. So there we are just having to hear that while already having explained to him that those engines do not cost that much. He didn't listen. We still went through with it and in the end, he did his very very minimal body work and the engine that wasn't even replaced at his shop doesn't even work right. He was very disorganized and couldn't find any paperwork we were requesting. With our experience he was not trustworthy and the car was there for weeks, maybe he might perform different with someone else but we had an overall lousy experience with Arturo's body shop and wouldn't recommend. Not a reliable business man. And is not competent for the job.

I searched all around Lufkin and most places either wouldn't respond or want to deal with the insurance company of the person that hit her. A&B agreed to do the work and help with the insurance company. After a few days I was informed by the insurance company that the car was totaled. I contacted A&B and they got me in quickly to take the remaining items out of the car and I signed it over to them. At this point I thought I was done with them. However, the insurance company tried to mess me over and blame A&B. I stopped back down and asked about what was going on and the owner took the time to explain their billing, what was going on and assured me they would get to the bottom of the issue. The insurance company called me a few days later to reimburse me a little more but I was still out a lot of money for the charges they refused to cover. Keep in mind this is not my insurance company, it is the one who hit my daughter's car. I called A&B with the insurance update and they fought with the insurance company again on my behalf. A&B made sure I received the whole amount due for the car. They stuck with me to the end and went to bat for me when they could have left it alone. While I can't speak personally to their repair work, I can speak of their customer care. Any company willing to put their reputation and money on the line for a customer the way they did for me is well worth it. I can't say Thank You enough.
