All That Jazz Dance Academy

All That Jazz Dance Academy

I can't believe there aren't any other reviews on this amazing dance school…read more My family and I moved from Brooklyn to Hamilton where I immediately started researching dance schools in the area. All That Jazz Dance Academy came highly recommended so we decided to check it out. Shortly after, we signed out 9 year old for Ballet and Hip Hop classes and we couldn't be happier! The schools is in a "house setting" with an entrance filled with flyers on past and upcoming events. The waiting area is filled with chairs for parents who hang around while the kids are dancing. The two dance rooms are big and hold about 10 or more kids comfortably (with room for parents to watch when there's a "parents presentation" done by the students). Miss Debby and her staff (we LOVE Miss Renee) are all great and professional and the best thing is that the quality of their work is amazing and the prices are very reasonable. My daughter loves dance and wants a career in dancing one day so this year she will be dancing four days a week with a possible private class in Saturday. The recital that was held at Bordentown High School was amazing! Again, very professional. I would just advise to buy tickets in advance because as with any other event, they become a bit more expensive once you purchase at the door. My only (tiny) complaint is that they aren't easy to reach on the phone and I find myself calling numerous times to get an answer, but this is probably because the director herself sits at the front desk and sometimes supervises classes, so the five stars remain. Really great school! We can't wait to start our second year at All That Jazz this fall!

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT - Warning to Families About Knecht Danceworks…read more I feel compelled to share my experience to protect other families from potentially falling victim to what I believe is a deeply troubling pattern of behavior at Knecht Danceworks. Over the past several months, I've encountered numerous suspicious and unethical practices, including: Unauthorized Withdrawals: Knecht Dance "accidentally" withdrew hundreds of dollars from my account. It took weeks of constant follow-up and pressure before I finally received the money back. Disney Deposit Scam: I was told the $300 Disney deposit was fully refundable, and I even double-checked with the owner, Elise Knecht, before agreeing to it. I've been asking for a refund since January 3rd. Elise promised it would be returned after the June Disney trip. As of today, I still have not received the refund. Now, I'm being told that a "Disney rep" has the money--yet I've been given no name, no contact, and no proof. Recital Chaos & Misrepresentation: The night before the June recital, we were told that Kendall Hall at TCNJ was "double booked," and we could no longer use the venue. Instead, the recital was moved to a small elementary school auditorium with no air conditioning, leaving many without seats. I personally spent over $200 for tickets and sat in a hot gym to watch my daughter perform for 2 minutes before leaving. False Promises of Refunds: Multiple emails from Elise promised to address the refund in "the next email"--yet, nothing. This week, after again asking for both the $300 Disney refund and the $210 recital refund, I was told: "You're waiting on $300, but we're waiting on $10,000." She claimed they hired an attorney to recover the recital ticket money, but offered no transparency, receipts, or timeline. Confirmed Deception: I decided to go straight to the source and contacted Kendall Hall at TCNJ myself. To my shock--but not surprise--I was told that Knecht Dance NEVER had a recital scheduled there for June 8th, despite selling us tickets for that exact date and location. This kind of behavior is unacceptable and appears to be a deliberate attempt to take advantage of trusting families in our community. Please be cautious and do your research before enrolling or making payments to Knecht Danceworks.

TDN you are a challenge…read more As the parent of a student who went there for three years, I've had ups and downs with this place. The instructors seem to truly care, but our last two lacked discipline and classes can sometimes get rowdy. Quieter children, like mine, are in the shadow of louder kids who do a lot of whatever they want. Many guardians hang out in the lobby, but unlike other dance studios, there is no attempt to make a community of parents. The lobby in this location could also use a good deep clean. Songs and routines are fun and the kids are in to them. This is the good stuff. The location is also killer if you live in Lawrenceville. The recitals here are mixed. In some ways they are very fun. The first one we had at TCNJ went off without a hitch. The last two haven't been as smooth, and the practice for this last recital was a joke. They were incredibly disorganized, there was nothing for young kids to do backstage, and my wife waited for a while for a parent to show up. None did so she just hung out backstage for pretty much the whole rehearsal. At the end of the day, this is a decent dance studio. If you're not taking things too seriously and you're looking for a convenient location, you probably won't go wrong here. That said, we've had experience with a number of places, and this one wasn't exactly on the top of our list. As convenient as it was, we ultimately decided not to come back. This may or may not end up working for you.

Soooo glad that Groupon did not let me down...for once...and introduced me to this awesome studio. Let me be clear, I've only taken their Zumba classes here, so this is not to review all the other classes they have. I have taken classes with Sara and the tiny little tattooed Polish girl....both are really fun instructors, upbeat music, intense cardio, lots of screaming and and a decent crowd. The classes are about 20-30 ppl depending on the night, a mixed age group and the steps are not difficult to pick up. The studio is located in a tiny little plaza next to a Burger King....resist the temptation to go into the BK. Inside the studio is very spacious, lots of mirrors, disco ball is on and strobe lights, so overall a great ambiance. The only reason I'm deducting a star is because I experienced the front desk lady not honor someone's Groupon bc they were a current member and was quite rude. The print on the Groupon did not say anything about having to be a new member and did not even honor what she paid for the Groupon, which seems ridiculous. I'm glad I did not have that experience myself, but really felt for the lady who was now out $40. Apparently they always have facebook specials...for all types of members and if not regularly drop in classes are only $12.
