When the employee finally showed up, she was clearly mad that I had interrupted something she had been doing in the back of the store. She did not greet me but rudely mumbled "last" then "first" . She couldn't find me in the system so I nicely repeated the spelling of my last name. Apparently, I said it too fast for her liking so she rolled her eyes & repeated the first 3 letters back to me incorrectly in a mocking tone. I spelled my name again slower and she once again rolled her eyes. By this time I was annoyed so I rolled my eyes. She stopped abruptly & viciously confronted me "did u just roll ur eyes at me?!" I responded "yes in response to ur repeated eye rolls". She began flipping out in a very confrontational way. She wanted an argument & I just wanted to tan. Eventually I told her "u r acting bitchy & u know it!" She started escalating again, "did u just call me a bitch?" She grabbed the phone & ran to the back of the store saying "I'm calling my manager". Left me standing there for about 5 minutes so I finally left & went to the Short Pump location & reported her behavior to the manager there. I've never been treated so offensively by an employee of any establishment ever in my life. I was in a great mood when I entered-Her attitude was unbelievably confrontational, rude & offensive. I cancelled my membership over this situation as I don't want to experience anything like that again. Since I don't hv her name, I will describe her appearance: petite, possibly in her early 20's with long, dark, curly hair working alone on Tuesday. Apr 14 around 2pm- has no business working around people (unless maybe in a morgue but id still feel badly for the dead ppl having to be around her!)

Then asked for my birthdate that wasn't coming up in the system... at this point instead of helping she acted like I was there under false pretense... even asked me if I had a different last name and the exact date I went there in the past... At this point I told her all I knew and was starting to get uncomfortable with the whole situation... felt like an interrogation at one point. However, no matter how busy I always see at least 3 to 4 empty lay-down style beds. Clearly there is an extreme customer preference for stand up booths (especially level 2), for better comfort and hygiene. When I first started tanning I got no direction on what beds would be good and why much less how many minutes I should use. The employees were nice but unknowledgeable. Then, 6/29, the evening of my tanning revolution happened. It was Friday night maybe 30 minutes before they closed. I had never seen Amanda before. She pleasantly offered upgrades and lotions based on recommendations for my skin that she explained. She found reasonably priced options for me when I hesitated to spend. As someone who works in sales, I'm not easily sold on anything. But Amanda presented facts and was very knowledgeable that made it worth me spending extra money. Then chaos ensued and she handled it with such grace. With minutes to closing, there was a flood of people wanting to tan but none of the beds wanted to work. There was one woman hollering from her bed about how it wouldn't turn on. I was in the lobby... the line was growing. Amanda never lost her cool. As a manager, watching how she engaged with customers and worked to problem solve... if I had a position available I would have tried to hire her on the spot. But honestly, I am not even sure if I could have convinced her to leave... she seems like she loves her job that much.

I'm extremely disappointed in this Crunch franchise (JF Fitness of North America) for their…read morecomplete lack of transparency and customer service. While my trainer Chris Patterson and the staff have been fantastic, management--especially Fitness Director Nick May--has been the opposite. I have 44 fully paid, unused personal training sessions at the Glenside location. I was told in writing that my sessions never expire, yet no one disclosed that they cannot be used at any other Crunch location. After moving to Norfolk, I learned that these sessions are locked to this single franchise, something that was never mentioned when I signed up and something most customers would reasonably assume would transfer between Crunch gyms. How come I can use any crunch gym with my membership, but my sessions won't transfer? JF Fitness has offered zero real solutions--just "sell your sessions" or drive hours back to Richmond. No one will buy them, and I no longer live there. I even tried to coordinate a transfer and was initially led to believe it might be possible, only for management to completely dismiss it. The lack of honesty, accountability, and basic customer service from Nick May and upper management is unacceptable. This feels misleading and unethical, and I will be reporting it to the Better Business Bureau for failure to disclose critical information. Shame on JF Fitness for taking advantage of loyal members and hiding behind franchise loopholes instead of doing what's right.
