Coach James is a great trainer! I'm not a gym rat, I've never had a trainer before and never thought to get one. But my friend gifted me some sessions with him, and I loved it! I'm now coming up on being with him for 2 years. What I really love about him is that he is very knowledgeable about the body. I was having problems with my knee, and he spent a month focusing on getting it strong with specific exercises. The workouts are great. Coach James is consistent, gets to know each individual and where/when to push us to our next level. All the workouts can be done at home, which is also helpful! The best part is that I'm there is an amazing community of mostly women, and a few men, who are supportive and encouraging to one another. Been going 2-5 times per week since October 1, 2018. This is one of it first times in my adult life that I have consistently kept an exercise program going for over 12 months. And I believe it has to do with the coaching consistency and also the community of people who are holding each other accountable in a supportive way to getting to their individual health goals. Body by James is awesome. The program offers work outs as early as 5am. The program also offers Hip Hop Fitness Class, Jazz Dance Exercise Class, Step Class, as well as fitness themed excursions. The program supports you by providing you with a ton of healthy meals, like healthy meals that you actually want to eat. I'm a classically trained chef and I have made a few of his meals and they are really good. You are also provided with access to mimi YouTube work out videos by Coach James. The program has a Facebook (FB)page for members only. Within the FB page there is a detailed schedule posted every Sunday of the workout schedule and the type of work out that coach will be providing. The staff are amazing. Coach James is professional, kind, and will push you in a way that you need to be pushed without shaming you. Coach Cash teaches Hip Hop Class, and she too is wonderful, as she pushes you, with a side of motivation. Last, the facility is always clean, and the parking is great. read more

He did respond advising that he would refund me. If I didn't reach out he wouldn't and all I got back were excuses. After 4 days he stopped responding all together. It's going on 3 weeks and I still have NOT received my refund in the amount of $334. Never thought after being a client for so many years he would burn me this way. I didn't know what to expect and thought pricing would be ridiculous like a lot of Bay Area boot camp facilities but it's been very affordable. This is the best program I've ever been a part of. The workouts are short (30 minuets) yet intense and invigorating. I've already lost 35lbs. The coaches are great! They really want you to to succeed so they are interested in what you need, how you feel, where you want to go with your health goals, and assisting you in getting there! James is a great motivator while pushing for your fitness goal but unfortunately when the pandemic hit last year, he did not handle situations professionally. As I spoke with few of the people who was attending as I was, we have canceled since we were paying monthly as if we were attending in person session. Later to find out he had prices for attending virtually. But never inform people. During a pandemic and many people losing their jobs, paying full price while we were all are at home , informing clients of the virtual price would have been nice. And As many of us cancelled thinking we be done getting charged, that wasn't the case. Then he wouldn't refund when we already cancel our memberships after it was stated a date to do so. For some he refunded in a kindly time manner and others he took months after to do so. Attempted to contact him so many times for many months and was being completely being ignored while he was responding to others so it was obvious my messages regarding my refund was done on purpose. And he was aware he needed to refund as he stated he would take care of it but when it still wasn't done he then started to dodge all messages. Fortunately he did refund but it was after 6 months and because I had people to contact him on my behalf. If he couldn't not refund due the hit of pandemic, communication would be great but how he handled it was unprofessional. As it's local business, things like this makes it hard to give local businesses a try. So unfortunately I do not recommend this business. And as I look at other low score reviews, him more not refunding money isn't the first time he has done this. read more

I have been attending Body By James Boot camp for a few years and really enjoyed the gym and workouts. We all know life gets in the way and sometimes I was unable to make the classes but when this coronavirus hit I had no excuse and Coach James immediately put into place the virtual workouts! The classes are prerecorded and I can upload them and workout at my leisure. Coach James meets with me weekly to go over what I have been doing and make adjustments if need be. The personalization is everything because the workouts and meal plans are geared to me and my abilities. His classes may be ok, but as a personal trainer he is very flakey. We were supposed to have weekly sessions, and in the space of five weeks he canceled one session with 5 hours notice, canceled another session with 50 mins notice (I had already left work and was on my way by the time I got the text) and he was a complete no-show for another session. When I asked for my money back for the remaining sessions, he refused, so I'm now out $100 and feel very ripped off. read more

I started the 6 week "Tone That Tummy" challenge with coach James because with the gym being closed I knew I needed motivation and consistency to keep me off the couch. I have some back issues due to an accident years ago, and he helped me to focus on my abilities and makes me feel comfortable pushing through. He's organized, upbeat, patient, but will work you out until you almost throw up if he sees you got it in you! He plays no games! Totally worth the money as he is very reasonable. During these times working out via Zoom is so convenient! He has packages that include meal plans,, virtual coaching and easy scheduling. I don't know how many inches or how much weight I've lost, but I can tell you I feel much STRONGER which is my ultimate goal. I like swimming, and he even created a workout for me in the pool, which is less stress on my back. My stoke feels a lot better. You won't be disappointed with his direction and expertise! I have a love/ hate relationship with Coach James. Hate him for pushing me to do more but love him because I'm seeing results. Coach James really cares about his students. He's offers unwavering support to us all. To give you an example: I will be having knee replacement surgery and he's offered to come to my home to help me rehab, another student had the same surgery and he asked her to reach out to me to know what to expect. Coach realizes that we have busy schedules that's why he offers early morning and late evening classes and Saturday morning class in an attempt to accommodate us all. Sure a consultation makes sense and I understand the idea of needing to consult with a client to ensure certain things. When I came to BBJ, I initially came in hopes of losing a few pounds for a wedding that I would be in. Once I started it was pretty hard, but I pushed through. I pushed through because of Coach James. He literally motivated me daily to not quit, to persevere and give my very best! As a result, I lost 13 pounds in 3 weeks! After the wedding I hurt my back at work and was unable to workout, but when I came back, I told him that I was serious about a lifestyle change!! COVID-19 has stopped us from physically meeting but he provides virtual classes daily that are just as great!! Nonetheless, BBJ is affordable and a great place to feel accepted as well as challenged (oh and he will challenge the hell out of you lol) in a good way! I'm here to stay!
