My wife and I have been going here for about four months and we love it! The classes are fun,…read morechallenging and ever-changing. Coaches are motivating, know there stuff, and great at critiquing. And importantly, ALL the staff makes you feel like you're part of a family. After trying several different health clubs over the last decade (and even trying personal training), this is the one fitness pursuit that has stuck for me. I look forward to my classes each week and consistently go about 3 times a week. It also kicks. Your. Butt. I've been a runner for many years and am used to burning 300-500 Calories per workout. At Orange Theory, I average closer to 800-1,000 per hour workout. Thanks OTF team at Lynwood!

I love the format, I love the formula, and nothing gets me back into shape as quickly and effectively as OTF does. The workouts are motivating, structured, and incredibly effective. The coaches are generally great, and Kevin in particular is outstanding -- easily one of the best trainers I've worked with. He brings great energy, keeps classes engaging, and clearly cares about helping people succeed. Unfortunately, the customer service side of things has been wildly inconsistent, and that inconsistency really takes away from what should otherwise feel like a premium fitness experience. When I signed up, I was specifically told that if I needed to cancel within the 8-hour window, I could simply call the studio directly and they could remove me from class without charging the late cancel fee. Sometimes that's exactly what happens. Other times, I call with the exact same situation -- migraine, illness, exhaustion, life happening -- and suddenly I'm told I'll still be charged. It seems to depend entirely on who answers the phone that day, which is frustrating when members are trying to follow the rules they were originally given. I'm sorry, but if someone makes a class reservation with every intention of attending and wakes up four hours before class feeling awful, there should be some reasonable flexibility. Especially when members are paying premium membership prices. Another frustration is the inconsistency between studios that are supposedly under the same ownership. I was told when I joined that Shoreline, Lynnwood, and Mill Creek were all owned by the same people and that members would essentially be treated the same at each studio. That has absolutely not been my experience. When I visit a non-home studio, particularly Mill Creek, I often feel like I'm treated more like an inconvenience than a valued member. And then there's the heart rate monitor situation. Forget yours at home or show up with a dead battery? Mill Creek wants to charge $10 just to borrow one for class. Ten dollars. For a temporary monitor rental when you're already paying a very expensive membership fee. That's the kind of nickel-and-diming that leaves a bad taste in people's mouths. There have also been multiple occasions where studio equipment or systems weren't functioning properly -- music cutting out for half the class, treadmill tracking not working correctly, etc. Things happen, of course, but it adds to the frustration when the studio expects rigid adherence from members while offering very little flexibility in return. The thing is, people willingly pay premium prices all the time when they feel taken care of. Nordstrom built an empire on that concept. OrangeTheory has a premium workout product, but the customer service often feels anything but premium. Too often it feels like the focus is on squeezing members for every extra fee possible instead of building loyalty through consistency, flexibility, and good service. I genuinely love the workout enough that I keep coming back. I just wish the customer experience matched the quality of the actual fitness program.

I am even more excited about joining OT Bothell than I used to be. Even though I went through a set…read moreof setbacks, they have never complained or made rescheduling difficult. I occasionally show up at Bellevue club. I was a college and professional tennis athlete a long time ago. Still, because of the great attitudes of the people working here I am now going with my mom and my sister next Monday. Even if this class sucks (which I know it doesn't), I would still be positive about OTB because of the amazing employees I have only interacted with at arm's distance.

I joined Orange Theory Fitness in January, and it has been great workout wise. Most (not all)…read morecoaches and front desk staff are super nice and helpful. Few policies the studio has are very hard to maintain like cancelling classes 8 hours in advance - otherwise $15 penalty, no show penalty of $15 due to sickness etc. I was sick couple days and front desk said they will look into it, but I was still charged. I was pretty much charged extra on top of monthly fee (~$220 for unlimited) every month because of plan changes or sickness etc. I let go all these inconveniences because I liked the studio vibe and workout was effective for me. What pushed me over the edge is an incidence where the coach was extremely rude and disrespectful because I was 5 mins late. I entered the room; coach Jenifer rolled her eyes at me (is this a high-school drama!!) and then was extremely rude to me saying I need to leave the room. She didn't need to be so disrespectful! She could convey the same message nicely and respectfully. I am paying $220/month and including penalties every month easily it goes beyond $235 - she is not doing a charity! I am old enough not to tolerate this kind of behavior - I am not a kid; she is not my mom or teacher! I would rather spend my money where I get good workout AND am respectfully treated. I don't know if she would have treated the same way if I weren't a people of color. I was very disappointed in the fact that I didn't get to do my workout as well because I was late by 6 mins. I understand that the studio has rules about warm up and that is very much appreciated. - However, I could still have done 5 mins warm-up by myself on the floor (or on treadmill or rowing machine) after I reached and start my workout after that. But I wasn't allowed. I could still have done 49 mins of workout instead of 55 mins. This is nothing against the coaches/front desk, but very stringent studio/corporate policy. - Nobody wants to be late and lose money/time for no reason. I drove 20+20 40 mins for nothing and also paid for the class. This is just way too big of a time wastage and penalty. This is my first time ever in 6 months coming in late. - I am specially disappointed because making time with 2 little kids, bed-ridden mother-in-law and full-time job is already very hard as is. And on top, because of 5 mins delay you make us go back home. Not everyone is fortunate enough to live a smooth life where planning ahead for the week just works. So, I felt this gym definitely is not for me with so many strict rules and regulations, specially where I am not treated with respect. I value my dignity. I do want to add that the studio manager was very thoughtful about listening to my points which is very much appreciated.

BIG KUDOS! I would like to send a big shout-out to the staff at Emerald City…read moreAthletic Club to go beyond to help a fellow member. I have been going to this establishment for 16 years and I could not be happier. The club put a lot of money into recent renovations and upgrades. It is up to standards with state-of-the-art equipment. Whether a person chooses to use the machinery for cardiovascular purposes, muscle strength, or weight loss, this is the ideal place to achieve your fitness goals! It simply is not possible to walk out the door without feeling a profound sense of accomplishment and better overall health. The best part of all is the staff. I have had Cerebral Palsy all my life. I have had to make do with one wheelchair to use both inside my home and in my car. It was in bad shape. There is a wonderful maintenance lady by the name of Jen H. surprised me and gave me a cool wheelchair that she had at home. This chair was brand new and is a great chair for me to utilize at home. But the kindness and compassion did not stop there. My old wheelchair was in desperate need of an overhaul. She went ahead and ordered me a new seat for the chair and new armrests. Now, I can feel more at ease knowing I have extra reinforcements with new and sturdy material. Now I have both a wheelchair for my house and one for my car that I can use at the gym. That made my life so much easier. Jenn and a courteous staff member by the name of John Y. volunteered their time and installed both items for me right there at the club. The staff is so caring and friendly, and they do put the customer first as you can see. There is also a friendly lady who works at the front desk named Jenny V. who helps me put my wheelchair in my car when I am ready to leave at the end of the day. The staff at this club makes me feel like I matter. They are like family to me. I am committed to being a lifelong member of this gym. I give my highest regards and recommendations to this staff and cannot speak highly enough about them. If you are looking for a new gym, please go to the Emerald City Athletic Club. You will not be disappointed.
