So last night we went to Bockholmen for julbord, one of the few places apparently that provide it one extra day more
Its like being in someone's house, so different from all the other places I've been to for julbord these past 25+ years. Its not some well oiled machine like Ulla VWnblad or Ulriksdal; excellent though they are and indeed favourites for many years; more a friendly - but efficient - experience
Its cosy, lots of lights...right on the water, must be a fantastic view in the summer - so definitely a place to return to for a different reason
There are 9 courses - I managed 8 but was sparing on quite a few...you will see from the photos...didn't leave stuffed but very nicely full...one could have been seriously piggy! And a long list of aquavit, including 2 home made, horseradish and dill...the horseradish was apparently very good, I just stuck with the OP Andersen
All very nice, well presented, well put together, well cooked - you can see the chefs through the hatch and of course talk to them when you get your slices of suckling pig! Lots of people serving, so no issues there either - and all with excellent English - it is Sweden after all
All in all. a very good experience...and the tower lit up across the way was a stunning sight - it does change colour but every time we were outside it was as you see it in the photo
Ps - for some reason the taxis won't take you across the bridge to the door - or back. Seriously cold wind last night and a taxi waiting in the wrong place was not fun and we froze for 20 Minutes (Taxi Kurir take note) read more
