I am sorry to have to write this because I was so excited to try Bocca, however the entire experience was a disaster. It started when we walked in and were cut off by one waiter saying we needed to make a reservation on line while we tried to tell him we had a reservation for the rooftop and were simply trying to check in. When we sat down, our waiter kindly took our order, the bocca for two and a bottle of wine. He returned with the wine but plunked it on the table without opening it and left it there like that for quite some time.
The next part however, was really not ok. I've worked jn the hospitality industry but I had NEVER seen this. He had asked earlier to clarify our order (pretty simple as it was just the bocca formule to share)- anyway there was a miscommunication, which I understand can happen with language, but instead the primi formule food items started to appear at our table (prior to the wine still not being opened). We let them know that this was not our order and the waiter instead came over and said "I asked you!" And when I replied I thought he was talking about the wine earlier, he proceeded to slam the menu on the table. I was pretty shocked to be honest. He then eventually came to open our wine ( without asking us to taste it), and then did not check on us again until half way through our meal when he discovered that we received two orders of (underwhelming) ravioli instead of the one we were supposed to get, and no fried artichoke or ceviche.
To cap things off with a spectacularly embarrassing bang, when we asked for the check, the wrong bill came and they overcharged us! There were no apologies, no thank you on the way out, and an overall sad performance from all.
Don't get me wrong, the scenery and vibe is cool, but the experience was so lacking and rude that I couldn't in good faith recommend this place with all of the other wonderful restaurants in Nice. read more
