updating my review because Dr. Norton is GREAT, but the communication and staff could use a lot of…read morework. my first appointment, i was told there was a cancellation for tomorrow, so i booked it. i drive 45mins, and find out that i was booked for a different day and time. i got a cervical mri, and usually doctors receive images on their own. i finally have my follow up appointment and find out i was supposed to bring the physical disc. nobody informed me that i would need to bring the actual disc. for something so important, a reminder would be professional. i'm just supposed to reschedule which is a major pain because norton is out of office a lot. i also left a VM for the medical assistant and never received a call back. i'm glad i pushed to still be seen without the mri images because my experience after seeing dr. norton was pleasant. but these mistakes/bad communication by the team cannot be overlooked.

The MA showed me to a room, left and didn't shut the door. The staff with the office manager right there at the reception desk started talking loudly about a patient they referred to "as that old lady" who was being difficult in payer her bill. I had to walk out to the desk and tell them I could hear every word of their loud conversation and how unprofessional they were being referring to a patient as "that old lady". Dr Wells said he read my previous review and was taking steps to improve and he did ask his staff to shut the exam room door.

I really appreciate that. Only once did it take a long time to get a letter written for my mother-in-law's medicare claim. The group does surgeries across the street at their surgery center. I have no complaints with my experiences there either. All surgeries went well and the staff is compassionate as well as efficient. The only complaint that I have is that waiting time is entirely too long in both places! At least they provide coffee, magazines and a flat screen to keep you occupied while you wait.

Then she proceeded to ask how he injured himself and I said he fell. She then sharply reminded me that she asked if it was an accident and I said no. I told her to stop being rude and that I was hearing impaired and she was hard to hear because of the static from her headset. She then argued that she was not rude. Well, that is a problem in itself. Tone of voice says a lot. At the end of the call, I repeated the address she gave me. I misunderstood the suite # and she said NO NO NO NO NO NO NO (probably about 8 times) and then repeated the suite #. I only hope the office manager reads this review. The person answering your calls is the face and voice of the practice. She sets the tone. If she is rude, then your practice is rude. I cannot image that the physicians would tolerate such unprofessional behavior. Having myself been a patient there in the past, I am shocked at how poorly this person handled the call. I have overseen call centers in my lifetime and never would I allow an employee to speak to someone the way she spoke to me.

I have learned that many injuries are simply due to weakness and, for me, overtraining, but he gives me the guidance and care I need so I can continue to train safely. It's also pretty easy to get an appointment when you want. On the other hand, I do find his front desk staff to be aloof and cold, and often I have to wait a very long time to be seen, but it's par for the course at so many medical practices, unfortunately.

About me -- injured my right shoulder 12 years ago from weight lifting. Spent years in chronic pain before undergoing surgery in 2011 from a highly respected orthopedic surgeon in Delaware. Shoulder felt better, but nowhere close to 100%, so I saw a local doctor in Springfield, PA and had 5 PRP injections over a period of a few years. The first 4 treatments seemed to help, but something went wrong with the 5th one because I felt a lot of pain both during and after the operation (never experienced that before). The Springfield doctor claimed it was a "flare-up", which seemed questionable because he had never disclosed that side effect before. I decided it was time to see a professional, and went to Dr. Purita to perform stem cell treatment on my shoulder. I was very impressed with my entire experience. I flew to Florida and got diagnosed. We then scheduled the stem cell treatment shortly thereafter. The treatment--which involves many needles, removal of fat cells and stem cells--is not for the faint of heart, but it's worth it. His staff is very knowledgeable and friendly, and the technology in his operating room is impressive. Sinatra playing in the background was a nice touch. I had a follow-up PRP session with Dr. Purita about 6 months later, per their recommendation. I made the stupid mistake of going to an MD now immediately as opposed to visiting an orthopedic. After being in severe pain for over a week I knew that I would have to visit an orthopedic. Dr. Gelb's office came highly recommended to me from a few friends. I finally set up an appointment and made it in fairly quickly. The gal that checked me in made it quick and painless. There wasn't as much paperwork to fill out as I had expected. Once checked in I enjoyed the comfortable chairs in the waiting room. Thankfully I didn't have to wait too long to see the Dr., which usually seems to always be the case and the reasoning of why I avoid the Dr. unless I'm 5' 11" in my grave. I knew that I was in good hands when I saw all of the photos of the professional athletes that had their treatments done here. That definitely helped put me at ease. I ended up having Dr. Woods whom is the foot and ankle specialist at this practice. He gave me a brief introduction on his background. After going through my X-rays from MD now, he then began his examination of my foot and ankle. After my diagnosis he informed me of the physical therapy regimen that would be necessary for my recovery. Dr. Woods also broke the bad news that I would have to wear a stupid boot for about 6 weeks :( I ended up purchasing the boot directly after my visit at their physical therapy office located next door. Naturally there were several follow up visits to check on my progress. Dr. Woods for the most part didn't keep me waiting for too long. There were a couple of occasions when it seemed like an eternity of waiting. The flip side to that was that the practice was busy and they take their time with the patients. All in all I had a great experience here and was happy with the level of care, and treatment, that I received from Dr. Woods and staff.
