I was promptly brought into the examination room, and the first order of business was the dreaded (to me!) X-rays, which are, of course, essential for proper dental health care. Amazingly, Jackie made this procedure quick and easy- it was over before I knew it. This is usually the worst part of my dental experience, but Jackie was well aware of my trepidation and saw to it that I was comfortable the entire time. The hygienist, Morgan, was friendly, efficient and skilled- I was completely at ease while she worked and I was done before I knew it . Finally, Dr.Pham gave me an overall assessment of my dental health- health was friendly, professional and reassuring. I get there, wait 45 minutes, only to be told oh, we madexa mistake. Its a $1000. No I'm not playing these games. I had dentists before. They could always tell me what it would cost. Never this well we aren't sure. You guys need to get your act together. Some us aren't rich. We can't just apply for credit or come up with an extra $500. I definitely won't be coming back. Unfortunately, our 4:00 PM appointment today was an extremely disappointing experience. When we arrived, we were told we had been removed from the schedule because we didn't confirm the appointment. I explained that I did confirm through the text system, just like we always have. Claudia at the front desk was very kind and explained they've been having issues with the confirmation system and said they could still see my daughter. A couple technicians came out and said they would get her in shortly, but then another technician came out and said my daughter had been removed from the schedule because we didn't confirm. When I explained what the front desk had told us about the system issue, she said it didn't matter because they were no longer taking 4 PM appointments. When I said maybe we should just leave, she said yes, we should. The manager who we have known for a very long time was standing there during this entire interaction and didn't say a word. After nearly 10 years as patients, being told to leave over what appears to be a system error was shocking. There are plenty of dentists in the area who are actually "gentle" and treat families with kindness and respect. We will be taking our family to one of them instead. I hope the office takes a closer look at how situations like this are handled in the future so other long-time patients aren't treated the same way.

They made it so easy for me to ask very specific questions about sensory issues, about illnesses that I have that can be affected by too dramatic of dental procedures, as well as the cost of things through my insurance. They made it so easy to get that information, and both were incredibly polite, but a specific shout out to Rochelle, who was so wonderfully sweet, well informed, and comforting in regard to me asking questions that are specific to me and my conditions, which I can feel a little bit shy and embarrassed about talking about as somebody with new diagnoses and illnesses. And so thank you guys so much already, and I cannot wait to come in and see what all the fuss is about in regard to them doing their composite manufacturing in-house in order to scale back the need for multiple appointments by sending out for those materials, and also just as far as them being awesome for people with sensory issues. And so if there are any issues, of course I will update my review. However, if you don't see an update, just assume that their actual dentistry is as wonderful as the experience that you receive with the staff over the phone.

This period includes Dr. Thomas and recently, the transition to Dr. Vong and Dr. Avendano. Bruna has been my routine hygienist and her technical skills are brilliant, top-notch. In particular, her ability to sonically clean and to measure my receding gums with the absolute minimum of discomfort speaks to her fabulous technique. In a joking fashion, sometimes I think she's just saying the numbers because there is no sensation while probing the gum line. Additionally, I want to mention Amber and Jada who filled-in for Bruna during a recent absence and they too, demonstrated a high level of technical skill and competence. More recently, I needed updates to 6 existing fillings and had been a little reluctant to have this work completed. Dr. Avendano and his assistant Crystal were "beyond my expectations". As a team, they were fast, efficient, and treated me in a manner that ensured I was comfortable before and during the procedure. Most impressive to me was Dr. A's ability to deliver anesthesia by needle with NO sensation of a needle prick. I was aware that he was working in my mouth to prepare for the procedure and then, "poof", the area was numb. No jab, no pin prick, no burning. His technique is incredible and I remained comfortable for the entire procedure. Should you be facing some over-due dental work, or are simply in need of an excellent hygienist, I would confidently recommend the team at Vista Dental.
