I was very disappointed with this service. I called and explained I was stuck in some mud, and asked how much it would cost to come to determine whether or not they could help me with their equipment. They said it would be $125 for a service call. I told them that I was willing to pay that and take the risk that they couldn't get me out once they saw it. (It was down a lane and I wasn't sure their equipment could get down there). The fellow showed up and we went to look at things, and he said "that he had gotten people out in far worse situations." He next started to do things, and I relied on his expertise (although I was a little concerned that he was going to catch my tires on fire with spinning them so much to the point that there was smoke). The next thing I notice, he said that he couldn't do it, and left me in a worse position than I was before he came. Next, I called to a smart friend who was able to do it in 1/2 hour (I didn't want to go to him originally because he is 80). He showed me that it was fairly simple once he hooked to the right place on the car, and used minimal force to slide me out. I was ok until I looked at Bob's bill, and I find out they charged me above the agreed amount. I said, I understand that I was relying on the person actually getting me out and "not just trying." I was relying on their expertise to do the job. It was more the principle of the thing than the amount to which I am disputing, and just the plain understanding of proper customer service. I had no problem paying what we agreed upon. I would have had no problem paying more if they had gotten me out. But I did have a problem being charged more without my agreement for them not to do what they said they would. They are supposed to be the experts, not me, and it was obvious that they didn't have the expertise in this simple, but challenging effort. read more

I had crashed and needed to tow my car to the scrapyard, the owner Bob lied to me and said he needed the ownership of my car to give to the scrapyard. Without me knowing he took the car as payment and sold it to the scrap yard, when I demanded to get the cash for my car back I was met with a fuck you, I was prepared to pay for the tow and overnight myself rather than it being taken from my car. I had used this company twice before both other times where wonderful, it's only this time that I feel that I got completely screwed over if not stolen from and this time due to the actual owner rather than one of his drivers. read more

To be honest it's surprising that this company are still employed by the municipality. They charged $400+ tax for a tow from Weissenburg to Guelph!!!! Plus holding charges on top. It wasn't a choice to choose this tow truck company and now I see why. Seriously, over priced because they could, not cool at all. Had a gut feeling this wasn't right so checked three other companies in the area for the same tow and prices varied $95+ tax, $140 + tax and 150+ tax. None of them remotely close to what Bob's Towing charged. How can they get away with this? I wonder if anyone else has had to pay this much and had to endure this kind of behaviour or experience. I feel this is so unfair that they can charge these prices and get away with this, with no recourse. In addition the system is fraught with unhelpful behaviour. From the offset of initial contact with this company, which was abrupt, obnoxious with limited interpersonal skills. No information about the process was explained such as towing charges, daily car storage etc. They may have years of experience in these matters, but keeping the lay person in the dark about the process leads to confusions and delays in retrieving the vehicle. Not a nice experience - the tow truck driver refused to accept the CAA. Saying he had to have original card It would take an Hour CAA - won't hook the tow to the claim CAA confirmed that 1. did not need the card - number and DL was fine. 2. CAA said they would hook the Tow to the claim 3. CAA called directed - and were told it was too late. Im my opinion: This company and its driver not looking out for their 'customer' I am also making sure my car repair is NOT done where they towed my car - just incase they are expecting a kick-back. read more

I was driving on Woodlawn Rd in Guelph today and one of the tow trucks at first just sat at a green light. I honked and it finally drove. About 5 minutes later I was merging into the center lane and without a signal or warning the tow truck just swung over into the lane. Had I not backed off they would have taken out the front end of my car. I have the license plate number of the vehicle if someone that works there wants it. I am not sure if it was distracted driving or that they just didn't check their blind spot, either way they need to be more careful! read more

What a great towing experience with this company. Had to order a flatbed to get my car to the garage after the car broke down on the side of the road. They were on time, actually earlier than they said, cost was exactly as stated and Toby (driver) was great and friendly. Have already given their number to a few friends. Great experience. read more

Predatory towing services, beware of you use them of additional or hidden fees. They will attempt to convince you that your best option is to tow the vehicle to their compound, where you cannot access the vehicle if they are closed ie. After 5 on weekdays, after noon on Sat or anytime Sunday and will charge you by the day for holding your vehicle at the compound. Be aware that of you are in a collision, you have the right to choose which towing company you would like to use. I recommend any other towing company. read more

Let me preface this incident by saying I am fully aware towing companies operate under the instruction of another party. In my case, either Guelph's police or By-law Enforcement had requested my vehicle be towed. The only relationship I needed to have with the towing company was that of me paying, and me finding the answers to two questions. I came in with no grudge with this company. Knowing this I attempted to pick up my vehicle, and had 2 simple questions/concerns to address. 1) I wanted to inspect my vehicle post-tow 2) I wanted to know who had requested it be towed My wife and I were greeted by the thug who lived in the house at 29 Wells Street, who I can only assume is the owner. I asked if I could inspect my vehicle which started his screaming for the duration of our 13 minute "conversation". Throughout the whole time he screamed, not just talking loud, and was visibly agitated. Below are some points with the bad words edited out to flip, flipping, and donkey appropriately. Note I did not stoop to his level and yell/scream/swear as I am sure some would be tempted to do. - flip you, you won't step foot in my lot until you pay me my flipping money, smartass. If you flipping want your car, you pay me. - you flipping dummy, what type of business do you think I run? It comes out in the same condition it came in - the police towed your car, I did not, any damage would be their problem - flip you, talk to the City, they towed your car you flipping dummy. - you are a flipping stupid donkey, and if you were not such a flipping stupid donkey you would not have parked where you did and have been in this situation - there were 100 other cars out there and you are the only flipping dummy stupid enough to have his flipping car towed, so flip you - why do you even care to inspect your car, its not like it is a Jag or anything, who cares - i deal with flipping stupid donkeys like you all the time, so don't get smart with me - if you had be towing your car to a shop after an accident you wouldn't be such an donkey - dealerships tow in cars all the time, you don't inspect them there first, so why would I let you here - are you flipping stupid, you see the cops walking around downtown, who do you think gave you a ticket and called me? - I have better things to do then flipping come out and talk to people like you this late at night, dont get me started - everyone knows you can't park there, its not my fault you're flipping stupid - are you trying to be smart? Is that how you sign (holds invoice in my face to compare to drivers license) - as I tried to back out of their lot with my foggy windows he was making comments to my wife criticizing my poor driving and the fact I had to do a 3 point turn to get out, as well as other sighs and insults I think any one of the above comments, let alone all of them, would be enough to deter most people from doing business with these guys. All in all this seems like a very poorly run operation with no regard for customer service, nor any empathy or sympathy for the situation someone is in. I am not sure what sort of people they are used to dealing with, but I certainly do not think this thug-like behaviour and lack of professionalism was warranted. I'd go somewhere else for your towing and service needs, this company is run by someone who is on a power trip and relies on bullying tactics. read more
