    Carlson Small Engine Repair

I tried Carlson Small Engine because of the lack of negative reviews, he was more convenient than…read moresome places since he's in the middle of Caldwell, and since he was available and answered the phone or called back pretty quickly, and his hourly rate was more reasonable than most these days. And I love that's he a young entrepreneur, and he's doing a practical job to fix things with his hands to help support himself/ his family and help reduce waste in our disposable mindset culture. And when you talk to him, it becomes clear that he has a generally good attitude and is customer-service oriented. I also greatly appreciated that he was patient with the extra time it took me to take the info he gave me and research more, and ask more questions, etc., to make sure I felt comfortable with the work that would be done, and the end price of $120ish was pretty reasonable, in my opinion, to repair a 10-year old Briggs and Stratton mower engine that had started leaking oil profusely when running and hot. I and my children have now used it a few times to mow the yard and it's working great! it seems a little harder for me to pull the starter cord than it did before, but it could just be me, because the children didn't say anything about anything being challenging in any way. They zipped right through mowing like they usually do. He gave me a heads up that he was in the middle of working on a side by side or something when I dropped it off just before July 4, so it took him a few days to give me an initial estimate. Then it took days before I got back to him with the holiday and visiting my mom elsewhere and everything. once I felt comfortable and paid Sam for the invoice, which he sent electronically through email, it was only a few more days before he told me it was done. A few other places I called were booked out at least a couple weeks before I could even drop it off, and it got checked out and repaired while I was elsewhere, so I wasn't home to mow anyway. And other places' hourly shop rates were definitely more! The whole experience was MUCH better than throwing away an inexpensive and repairable mower and then buying a new mower for 3 or 4 times the price of what I paid for repairs or for that mower when it was new, especially when a new main gasket and new spark plug and sharpened blade breathed new life into my current (basic but reliable) Weed Eater brand mower (yes they made a mower back in the day lol!!!). I had just barely changed the air filter so that wasn't needed. Sam answered all my concerns and gave me time to research others' use or not of RTV on the gasket, explained how his invoicing and payment processes worked in advance, etc. and I got it back cleaner than it's looked in years lol. Overall positive experience and I'll definitely take that or another mower to him in the future for repair or maintenance!

I payed them almost 2k. Very hard to get ahold of. I've called every day for the past week. No…read moreresponse!! Text no response, email NO RESPONSE!!! I talked to them in person in cascade that is how I heard of them. Right now NOT HAPPY WITH THERE SERVICE!! they were supposed to do engine work.

Recently, I had it serviced in preparation of a nine day long motorcycle trip and it was a complete disaster. Had a front brake job. Nothing was torque to spec. Many bolts were hand tightened. So this put me in a very dangerous situation. So overall, I would say it would have to drop to a 2 1/2 stars

I have purchased two motorcycles from this dealership, first an Indian and now a Triumph. For me, a…read morebig part of buying a new bike or car is the experience at the dealership. Each time I have come here, a member of the staff has come right out to greet me, whereas at other dealerships around town I have walked around the place for a few minutes until somebody even notices I am there. The salesman this time, Matt, was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the bike I was interested in, and, unlike some of the other dealers, this one is happy to let you test drive the bike you are interested in, rather than making you jump through hoops to do so. If I want to spend this kind of money, I expect to be able to test out the ride! Of course, it is helpful if you like Indians or Triumphs (they also may have other brands in their used inventory), but this review is about the dealer itself. Once I decided that I was interested, they worked with me to get a deal done in an efficient manner, and their manager and finance team were very easy to work with, whether I was seeking financing or not. Both times I have bought, I have traded in a used bike, and neither time did they attempt to lowball me, which is very much appreciated. I have also used them for all of my servicing needs, and have never had an issue. In sum, I'd highly recommend this dealership if you are in the market for a new Indian or Triumph (or one of the used bikes on their lot).
