What a quaint place this is! We have been passing the Bob's Processing sign on M-140 for YEARS from Grand Rapids to our cottage in Watervliet. I always thought this was a place to bring in the deer you just hunted, til our cottage neighbors told us about this place. Embarrassing as l am originally from Benton Harbor and he is from Chicago! Anyways, it is a short 2 miles down the country road and there is a medium sized sign in the front yard of a white house. Behind the house, in view from the road, is a red barn. Inside was pretty amazing! There were many flavors of meats and fish. Bacon, jerky, smoked fish dips, sausages, brats, steaks, etc. We bought two 12 oz ribeyes, Olive burger patties (in a 4 pack), a pound of pepper bacon, cheddar meat sticks, jalapeños brats (4 pack), a small brick of smoked Swiss cheese and one of cheddar cheese. All for less than $70, which l thought was fair. Steaks, burgers and brats were all from the freezer. They also had some side dishes available like baked beans and potato salad. The young gal working the register is a granddaughter of the owner, told us they are open year round. A sign behind her said to ask about their "Friday Rib Special", so l did. You can call before noon on Friday to order ribs and pick them up between 4-5pm. Everything looked to be of good quality. The barn/shop looked very clean snd well stocked. My husband and l are very excited to try the items we purchased!

    First round of goodies!

How good is Bob's Processing? Good enough to warrant a 2-1/2 hour drive from Chicago to South Haven for Bob's delectable bacon!

This place is the best for quality meat at great prices. We load up several times a year. Bobs crew is helpful and very service oriented.

Zick's actually referred me to Bob when I asked Gary regarding where I could find smoked fish (fresh) local fish.

A Pershing/Persian is a doughnut that is similar to a cinnamon roll but is made with doughnut batter. Meijer has had a plethora of Persian varieties lately, with one of them going for a cookies and cream vibe. The surface of this pastry contains a whipped cream-like frosting with miniscule chocolate cookie pieces. Due to their small size, the crumbles don't add any texture but do add a faint chocolate flavor to the creamy topping. One mini-OREO cookie can be found within the topping as the finishing touch. The cinnamon flavor of the pastry's body is sweet and relatively subtle with no uncomfortable burning/heat to it. Cinnamon granules can be seen in the dough after taking a few bites if you look closely enough. I found the dough to have a nice thick and chewy texture while also being light and pillowy. Initially I had some trepidation as the topping did not appear very thick, which concerned me because the topping to pastry ratio would be way off. Although I still think it could have been a little thicker, the ratio was sufficient for the most part. Like the majority of the doughnuts I've consumed from Meijer, it's Doughboy approved Doughboy_Food_Reviews
