The best operation in Bakersfield. Went in to replace my catalytic converter. They took the time to test my vehicle and discovered I had a fuel issue. If I would had replaced it it would have burned out very quickly. They could have just replaced the converter and made the money. On top of all, they didn't even charge me for the testing. First, as you were not privy to our phone conversation, you can't possibly know what either of us said. Secondly, you said you've never heard your manager swear, and therefore, you take for granted I'm lying. (May I point out that employees seldom use less than stellar language when in the presence of their employer). Further, you accuse me of being rude and "vulgar" to her. That, Mr. C. Is indeed a lie. Was I frustrated at her seemingly non-caring attitude at the beginning of our conversation? Yes, and that frustration may have been evident in my tone - but at no time did I use "vulgar" or profane words. Anyone who knows me will attest that I am never "vulgar". You are correct in stating that I had someone else bring in my RV, and that person's name was on my invoice. I called later only to ask if the insurance company would accept my claim without my name on the receipt. When your manager advised me to alter the invoice prior to sending it to the insurance company, I was uneasy about doing so. The situation could have been handled professionally by your manager simply giving me an answer to whether or not there might be an issue with the insurance company accepting an invoice with a name other than the owner on it; or simply stating she didn't know. However, my review on Yelp was not concerning the work done on my RV, nor was it to complain about the invoice. It was a review explaining childish and offensive name-calling by your manager, and her unnecessary and belittling comparison of my $900+ payment to the $14,000 charges of other customers when I pointed out that I was a paying customer and didn't deserve her verbal abuse. I understand your stance to stand by your employee, but I don't understand your scathing answer to me when, again, you were not there during our conversation. Fantastic installation. They work fast! There were about 15 people getting a variety of exhaust work when they first opened but they got done with most people in less than hour. I was #5 but was only there for about 40 minutes. Definitely will go back when I decide to change my exhaust. Best price in town. Last Friday morning, I sparked my car to get ready to go to work & noticed my car engine was sounding notably louder than usual. I was concerned but nevertheless thankful for the fact that my "check engine" light never came on. As my wife & I were coming home last Saturday afternoon, the loud engine sound became even louder (& more nerve-wracking at that). Thankfully, we were still able to drive the car home, after which time, we were convinced by a neighbor that some thief had ripped off our catalytic converter. This neighbor then recommended Bob's Muffler to us, & we decided to act on his advice. I drove the car over to Bob's Muffler last Monday, & to make a long story short, it turns out only the pipe behind the catalytic converter had been severed; some hoodlum attempted to steal our catalytic converter & must have gotten spooked & ran off! Long story short, the mechanics welded our pipe back together, & the service cost exactly $20.00 altogether! WOW!!! The service was very efficient, & the staff was very courteous & polite. I'm absolutely impressed with this shop and would highly recommend it. We were having some engine problems so we called ahead and told them our truck's year and model and they said they'd have the parts to replace the catalytic converter. We showed up early the next morning and dropped the truck off, and within a few hours they had the truck all fixed up and ready! Their service was fantastic and their price was even better! The shop isn't in the best neighborhood, but they have lots of security measures so I felt plenty safe. Fast repair, good service, and very low prices - couldn't ask for anything more! read more

Don't go to Christian , had to have another guy fix his welds , had mufflers and X pipe put on , every pipe cut had a hole / bad weld. My cars starter was stuck engaged and they don't do that there so wouldn't loan me a tool to take it off cool. I come back and fix it and get it started and there's multiple exhaust leaks . Put it back on the lift and another guy fixes it (good work don't know his name ) owner blames it not starting without whining why they didn't check for leaks . With a brand new welded pipe there shouldn't be leaks to begin with if you know how to weld properly , then blames it on previous guy who did the job above where he worked on. I was there two weeks before so here's his horrible job on the h pipe after removing my stock midpipe with cats as well. Bubble and holes all throughout the weld. They move slow to get you to pay more (by the hour). Never again and make sure you get your old pipes, they'll try to keep em too. Overall dissatisfied customer, I won't be back. read more

Over the years, they have done exhaust work on several of our vehicles. Great service and pricing every time. Don't be put off by the location or condition of the facility. It looks a bit rough, but their work is top notch. Most recently, I had a new muffler put on and the resonator removed from my V8 Lexus SUV. I asked for a "little rumble" but not too loud and no drone. The result was exactly what I wanted. Reasonable price too. If you need any exhaust work done, this is the place. read more

We were stuck with car trouble in the Bakersfield area on a Friday afternoon. We knew that we had a transmission leak, and then we started hearing metallic clanging/rattling and everything became really noisy. Since no other shop was even willing to look at our car, we ended up around the corner at All Automatic Transmission, after a recommendation from our tow truck driver. The guys there saw that one of our muffler pipes had broken off, which was causing the clanging and the noise, so they referred us to Bob's Muffler - the transmission luckily could wait until we got home. The service couldn't have been better... they took us in, fixed our pipe right away, and had us back on the road within less than 45 minutes - and only charged us a nominal fee, which we didn't expect, being tourists. Finding decent people who are honest and don't mind helping strangers out is so rare these days, we wanted to make sure to give Bob's Muffler a shout out. read more

I bought my truck in May 2003, and its first addition 3 days later was a grumpy exhaust from Bob's. By grumpy, I mean loud of course. If memory serves, I had them do a cat-back system with a 3-chamber flow master. Since then, I've been in once or twice to have them check a vibration and the exhaust hanger. They've always been super helpful and very nice. Last week, I heard a rattle, so I went back in to find that the (nearly 14 year old) muffler had broken apart inside. I had them install a new one, and my growly, grumpy truck sounded normal and happy again. The quality of their work is such that I don't visit them often, but I'm really happy that they're still around. It's great to have a place I trust to work on my truck, where I know I'll be treated right. read more
