The food was good. The service was the issue. There is no car hop service. Ordered outside and it took 43 minutes before our number was called. Going back to Fresno to see some family after so many years so of course I went here to go get some Fat Jacks burgers and fries. Had no idea that they had closed down during covid and my favorite burger place was no more. Decided to try the new Bob's that took over the space. The fries are not good unfortunatlly but the burgers are. Wish they were Fat Jack size of ol but for what they cost they are decent. In front of the order counter inside there are some records just sitting there and my son was really interested in buying one. They said they are technically not for sale just for looks. The crew was really nice about it and after some talk they had come to an agreement to sell him the record which was really cool of them to do for us. Not at all trying to compare it to fat jacks but the food is bland. For the price, I was expecting something close to habit burger rating. The ice cream and the shakes all had a weird aftertaste to it, I can't explain it. The fries could of been cooked longer (they're crinkle cut), so they were not crispy at all, very limp and bland. My burger bun was soaked from juices and sauce. I'm not a fan of that but if you are, they do that here. We gave it a try. A very cool menu board packed with classic drive in options and a few surprises! My family and I used to like this place. the food would take a while to get out but other than that we liked it. until last night!My husband and I went around 8pm to get some appetizer items. Angel the cashier came and took our order at our car and 20 minutes go by and we went up to the window wondering where our food is at she immediately gave us attitude saying the order didn't go through and it isn't her fault. I proceeded to tell her, you came out and took our order and told us it would be ready in 5-10 minutes, so you should be able to remember you have customers waiting on their food especially when it was pretty slow. she kept arguing with me and giving me attitude saying it isn't her fault and she can't give us a refund because there is no manager there. you can't run a business without a person in charge at all times! So she tells me she put our receipt on the desk and I will get my refund back to my credit card when the manager comes in but she has no idea when he will be there. I call this afternoon cause I haven't received a refund on my card. And the "manager" Vanessa was very rude and unprofessional. I told her what happened last night and that I never got my refund and mentioned that they can't be running a shift with no manager and her response was "did you call to tell me what's illegal and what's not illegal or what do you want?!" I was very shocked that this was the response to an unhappy customer who wants their refund and to inform you of the horrible service I had last night.she proceeded to give me massive amounts of attitude so I asked for the owners phone number and she said she can't give me a refund if I want to talk to the owner cause I'm going to take it up with him. I was like what?! You're not going to give me my money back for the food I never received because I want to speak to the owner? she said I can look at a menu and get his phone number I told her I don't have a menu and she gave me more attitude and I asked her to just give me the owners phone number please and she hung up on me! I tried calling back immediately and they ignored my phone call! I'm so appalled at how horrible these 2 employees handled an unhappy customer. I've been a manager in the food industry so I'm usually pretty patient and try to be understanding but when you just immediately start with attitude and refuse to give the owners number and hang up on the customer... that is ridiculous... if you can't handle a hard situation maybe food service isn't the job for you! read more

Food was ready and drinks were not included. Order taker didn't bring out drinks as promised, had to ask multiple times and go stand at window to pick up. Fries were cold, requested fresh batch. Was told it would be a wait because they had received orders after ours and that was going to be made first. Even then they did not bring order to our table even after we had to go back to order window multiple times. Order taker had tone as if it was our fault that we requested fresh fries. That they had to "re-make" our fries. Replacement fries and drinks received after we finished our meal. Fat Jack's was better. Fat Jack's took orders at the tables and brought food out. We ordered tonight through UberEats since we couldn't pick up. Food arrived quickly and was warm. That's about the most positive I can put into this review. 3 burgers, curly fries, zucchini, cheese sticks, and chili cheese fries. Unfortunately, the cheese sticks were missing but we got that refunded... so no big deal. However the food we did get was not that great. 2 of the 3 burgers tasted burnt and my family didn't eat more than half of them. Everything fried tasted as if it had been cooked in old/burnt oil. Bob's offers the same food that Fat Jacks offered but listen- this isn't Fat Jacks with a new name. If you don't expect the same taste and special sauce then you might be ok. I ordered a classic bacon cheeseburger, small seasoned French fries and a small chocolate malt. The chocolate malt is good. The seasoned fries was void of the taste from the season. Honestly a bacon cheeseburger from Wendy's would have been better. I promptly discarded the food to hit another greasy spoon diner to satisfy my bacon cheeseburger craving with seasoned fries. I can't show a photo because I discarded the food before writing my review. I don't care for the food but I will say that the chocolate malt was decent. I remember when this place was the old Fat Jacks. I was eager to try out the food and support a local business. The interior is almost exactly the same as I remember it which is nice for nostalgia. I ordered the #2 Double burger with cheese and I can say officially that the food was excellent. The bun was soft on the outside and toasted just right on the inside. The burger meat had a great char and was tasty. I think they nailed the 50's style burger down. The fries that came with the meal were crispy and seasoned perfectly. I live a stones throw away from this place, and it's one of the very few places around where I can find not just a chocolate milkshake, but a chocolate MALT milkshake. They are sooo good and the price isn't bad for how big it is. My gf always orders a banana milkshake, which is just the vanilla ice cream and FRESH bananas blended into it, and that is also extremely delicious. Before this place turned into Bob's, I used to go all the time just to get a Vanilla Coke. Now I get vanilla Pepsi from this place which is also sooo good and is HUGE for the price. Tbh I haven't tried any of the food yet, but I'm going to head over there tonight and grab something cause this review is making me crave that chocolate malt milkshake lol. I've never gone inside to order, but the girl I always see running the cashier station outside is always super friendly and polite. Sometimes the wait for a couple milkshakes can be a tad bit longer than expected, but that would be my only small complaint.
