Elegant Bathtub Reglazing - After pic freshly reglazed pedestal sink

Elegant Bathtub Reglazing

I can't say enough good things about Elegant Bathtub Reglazing. They didn't reglaze my bathtub…read more They reglazed my 1920s cast-iron porcelain-enameled pedestal sink, located in the rental unit in my 1895 row house in Jersey City. Elegant was one of three companies to actually respond to my inquiries. I sent out requests to many reglazing companies across Northern NJ. One said they didn't do sinks, one said it would be cheaper to just buy a new one (yes, of course, there are $99 pedestal sinks new at big box stores--that's not the point in an 1895 house with period-appropriate character). The others didn't bother to respond. The office manager, Linda, was prompt in her email responses and efficient in her scheduling. She called me two days ahead of time to confirm and again the morning of the appointment. The technician arrived exactly when scheduled. He was considerate of my tenant's cats, covered everything with plastic, and used portable exhaust fans to keep dust to a minimum. He brought both bone color and white color glaze and was able to assess at a glance which one to use to match the tub. He respected my desire to keep time-appropriate fixtures and didn't roll his eyes that I wasn't picking up a new $99 pedestal sink instead. He seemed to genuinely appreciate the antique sink, and he took great care to perform immaculate work. He cleaned up after himself and left me instructions on cleaning the sink to maintain the finish. I wouldn't say this was cheap, but it was good value. He worked from 7:30 to just before noon and this wasn't easy work. He used a chemical stripper first, then sanded the cast iron. There were a few chips in the porcelain, which is probably why some past owner had painted it in the first place. He repaired those chips, then sprayed on several coats of glaze. The sink looks amazing. I'm a convert now to reglazing.

In planning to list my condo for sale, my realtor suggested I get my bathrub reglazed and…read morerecommended Elegant Bathtup Reglazing. I contacted them for an estimate, and it was very reasonable. They came to my condo (I wasn't able to get the day off from work, but my mom was able to be there) on the day and time scheduled. Marco, who performed the work, was wonderful and explained everything. He took his time to perform the reglazing of my bathtub and also cauked the bottom of the tub. He cleaned up after himself very well and told us basic care instructions. My mom and I were later sent more detailed instructions from Linda, the office manager. We also shared with her that Marco did a wonderful job. I highly recommend this business if you need your bathtub reglazed.

I did not know Jim, nor was I referred to him. I read about his business and background ( his…read more"story"), talked to him at length, and decided to give it a shot. On a scale of 1-10, I would rate Jim and the quality of his work at least a 15. Jim sent me photos, of the various stages of the restoration, on a regular basis, just to keep me in the loop. And, the job was done without any excuses or delay. I also saw some of his other projects in his workshop ~ his work is just excellent! Jim is a fine, upstanding person, who sincerely cares about what he is doing. I gladly, and highly, recommend him to anyone looking to do a restoration/refinishing project. I couldn't be happier with the results (as the photos show).

I had the pleasure of using the The Furniture Shop for a small antique coffee table I recently…read moreinherited, which is very sentimental to me. My plan was to use this coffee table as a bench at the end of the bed, however it was very wobbly, not sturdy enough to be sat on, and had at least a 5" crack in the middle of one of the legs. I contacted Jim via email and sent pictures, to which he replied to promptly and provided a rough estimate.... so I made an appointment to bring it in. Jim is both a gentleman, who was a pleasure to deal with, and an expert craftsman, who has 28 years experience in both furniture repair and upholstery. He knows his stuff! His shop was absolutely immaculate and he was both kind and easy to talk to. Top notch customer service :) 4 days later my table was ready! Apparently, it required pretty much an entire deconstruct of the second shelf and all the legs, regluing and reinforcing all interior dowels and then reassembly. The cracked table leg? I couldn't even notice it was repaired! I'm thrilled to have my treasured sentimental table back with the ability to use it in more functional manner as a bench for the end of the bed! I would absolutely recommend Jim to anyone who needs furniture repaired. Overall it was a top notch experience in every way.
