We got here 10 min before 6pm closing for some drinks and ice cream. Dispite closing they eere more than happy to wait on us. On employee suggestion I got smores sundae and it was great. Hubby got a scoop of moose tracks which was good as well. They even offered for us to sit and eat even thou closing time. Very charming little market.

Bought 2 marinated Tri Tips Wed, frozen because I was headed home in the UP, but would not be home…read moreuntil Saturday. (Tri tips are not easy to find up here.) Because I was Introduced to TriTips in central CA, I expected the marinade to be more like a Santa Rosa Rub, which is how I cook them. It was not, but it was very good and tender. I grilled it on a gas grill at 350 over indirect heat til internal temp of 100, then flipped it over to direct heat (flipping once) til a bit over 130 (10-15 min). Removed from heat and tented under foil for 10-25 min while I steamed asparagus. It was perfect! Very good and lots of juice! There were med well pieces for my husband, and rare for me. Thank you! This is an Amish owned and run store in Manton; there's a produce stand down the road that also…read moresells in-season fruits/vegetables, but this place sells baking goods, baked goods, candies, brown eggs, pasta and rice. Pretty much dry goods. Some cheese. No milk. The prices on spices are fantastic by the way, and they carry a huge selection. Vanilla extract was an entire liter for $10! If you are into some serious baking, they sell flour in these HUGE bags. Oh yeah and they sell jams and jellies, peanut butter and snack foods too. If you are looking for contacts for Amish construction, carpentry, furniture, butchers, etc., they have a board on the wall with flyers. Also, please be considerate of the Amish folks and dress conservatively and speak kindly.

I was looking for a steak to throw on the grill and wanted to give this business a try as there are only a handful of markets on this side of the state that specialize in meats. They had all the meats you would expect too see where I settled on a Porterhouse steak based on 1). how the steak looked and 2) price which was very reasonable especially in light of todays inflated meat prices at $12.99 a lb . Upon getting the steak home I was quite pleased with the end product. The meat had an appropriate amount of fat for a Porterhouse, was very tender and just as importantly was very flavorful where the meat was definately a cut above the other grocery stores in the area and on a par with Neiman's which has tad higher prices in my opinion. Based on my initial experience I will definately consider this market in the future where I will be leaning towards a nice Ribeye the next time round. People are friendly and the location just a block off of US23 is very convenient and hard to \beat considering its close proximity to other key business in the area to include Walmarts, coffee shops and assorted restaurants.
