I have supported and recommended Bob wholeheartedly for years but I simply can't do it anymore. Our last two visits to Bob's Auto Repair have been total fiascos and a complete waste of time. We will not be going back. Regarding these last two visits, he was unable to fix our relatively minor problems despite his keeping our cars in his shop for a week each time. And while this is bad, his lack of communication or respect for anyone else's time made these matters infinitely worse and, in my mind, inexcusable. "We're working on it right now and it will be ready by 5." Yeah right! Imagine having to pay for daily ubers to his shop, only to see my car still untouched from the day before and told to come back tomorrow. This happened every day this week! I started to feel like he was holding my car hostage... and he never even fixed it! I used to trust this guy! Also, my wife's car (and others) got egged in his parking lot as it sat for days, waiting for Bob to be unable to fix it. We ultimately had to take it to a different shop who actually was able to fix it rather quickly (and without the eggs). I was once a very loyal customer. No more. Goodbye Bob. read more

First called the auto shop to see if I can bring in my car for a diagnosis. Bob answered the phone and was super friendly and welcoming on the phone. Immediately gave me a good instinct bringing my car in. I dropped off my car to the shop and had a small chit chat with Bob and another fellow. Seemed very laid back environment. I filled out my paperwork and left. It took about a day and hadn't received a call regarding my car. Called back and had a hard time reaching someone on the phone so I gave it a couple hours to call again. Bob answered and gave me an update with my Toyota CHR 2016 which was having screeching sounds. He was very honest and aside from my maintenance alert coming up on the dashboard he said that it was transmission problem which he then referred me to a reliable and honest transmission shop. I didn't pay for anything, even for a diagnostic. Only problem was that the transmission shop was all the way in Mission Viejo. I had called the shop (Angel's El Toro Transmission) and Mike himself answered the phone and gave me very helpful advice specifically regarding my car and its transmission. I decided not to get my car fixed and just went ahead and sell it to save myself some problem coming up ahead. I highly recommend Bob's auto shop. He's very honest and helpful. I wish I could agree with the other positive reviews. I've never left an auto shop so upset. I took a day off work to bring my car in for an oil change and spark plugs and dropped it off first thing in the morning after waiting a week to schedule an appointment. Six hours later he hadn't started on it. Bob became extremely defensive and rude to me on the phone when I called for an update. He kept cutting me off and was very different than how he was when I originally scheduled the appointment. I picked my car up and will be taking it elsewhere from now on. read more

I came in due to the high volume yelp reviews. To be honest, I know zilch about cars but when my check engine light came on, I knew I had to find someone who would be honest with me. Bob, did just that. I walked in dropped my car off. He texted me what was going on and I picked up at the end of the next day. Bob, let me know he didn't think the initial issue was really an issue. He checked my sensors drive my car and checked the breaks and etc. he let me know my cars good and free of charge I went home. I'll definitely be coming back and referring him to anyone I know. Wow. This is going to seem like a fake review, but I promise it isn't. I took my Chevy Tahoe to Bob's last month after my light came on. Shortly after I dropped it off, Bob called me to come pick it up. He said he tried just using fuel injection cleaner which would hopefully work. If the light came back on, he suggested taking it to the dealer because this specific issue would probably be covered under an emissions warranty. He charged me $40. That's right I said $40 not $400!!.I couldn't believe it. Fast forward to today when I dropped my Tahoe off to the dealer after the light came back on. It was exactly what Bob said it would be and it was under warranty exactly like he said it would be. I've been taking cars to mechanics for over 30 years. I have never seen anyone as honest as Bob. I was hesitant to take it to him at first because I drove an Infiniti and I didn't know if their expertise would cover foreign cars. It did, they fixed my fueling issue that had been giving me trouble on multiple occasions. He understood I was in college and gave me a fair price. I drive 71 miles (each way), from Hollywood, CA to have Bob fix my car. Bob and Kevin are first class auto mechanics. I first started going to Bob's because my car broke down and needed to get towed, I asked the tow truck driver where he gets his car fixed. He replied that he takes his own car to Bob's Auto Repair. Said they are great. So, fortunately I took his advice and had Bob repair my car (alternator and battery). I've been taking my cars to Bob's ever since. Bob and his lead mechanic Kevin are very good guys. Fun to talk with and he shares the wisdom of his life and growing up in San Clemente. This is my first experience bob's auto repair, a car repair shop with three hydraulic lifts. I walked in yesterday around noon, and the man himself was standing in the office, and I dealt with him. The trouble with my car was that the technician at the car lube place where I usually get the oil changed wouldn't touch it, because another place borked up the threads of the oil pan drain, and replaced the screw with a bigger one. At first, Bob tried to have me come back the following morning because the book was full for the day, when he realized that one of the lifts had not taken the next car up, and he squeezed me in right there and then! He told me he'd look at it and give his opinion, no charge. I told him that I was overdue for an oil change, and he said no problem. So I stood around for a while, as he was busy with other things, but eventually looked at it from underneath (car lifted). He said that the bolt had indeed been changed from the stock one because it fit better. He sees this all the time, and it should hold the oil in ok. Bob was very nice the whole time, and he graciously gave me the time of day. He charged me less than other places, $53 for full synthetic oil. This was good service. read more

To give Bob's one star is actually over the top. Unfortunately at one time this WAS a safe place to take your car with a good honest crew. There was Bruce, Oscar, Chelsea.You were always greeted with a smile. They always knew you by name. When you took your car there you knew it would be fixed. The prices were good and fair.They stood behind their work. Bob the owner was actually on the premises. Now you are lucky if you find him in the area. I have found out that his original crew is gone. This saddens me greatly. I completely trusted Bruce, I looked for him no matter what was wrong with my car, He fixed it. Not only did Bob not know who I was he did not even know anything about my car. It is not that big a shop. He is the owner. Sadly I would not send anyone there. There is noone there I trust. Bob is still never around. Bruce, Oscar and Chelsea are gone. Without them, there is no shop. So if you need your car fixed try Auto Medic around the corner I have heard they are safe. I would take my car there, Or find Bruce. I hear he is at Auto Zone near El Jefes he oohs still willing to help with information and any way he can..Good to know..... read more

I serve the Lord Jesus Christ and I know that I was sent to Bob's on purpose. So far I have been to Bob's 2x and both times I went to Bob's my car came out sounding, feeling, preforming better then when I took it in to be serviced. The first time it was the wheel bearing that was so bad that when Bob's excellent crew member took it off it "exploded". They were able to replace the bearing and search for the cheapest price for a caliper bracket that I had requested to be replaced. That told me right there that they were looking out for my best interest. When I got the car back the first time I was blessed to find out that the loud noise my car was making all of the time (that I thought was the engine cause by putting in too much oil when I had changed my oil) was gone. That brought peace right there. The second time I had brought the car to Bob's it was because the timing belt was going. I brought it to Bob's and they were able to fix it. While I was there to pick up the car they had shown me that they also replaced the alternator belt and power steering belt because they were both almost dead. I was also shown the part that was making all the noise. If the part wasn't replaced i would be looking at $500 additional to the bill for having to replace the head. My car came out of the shop with better gas mileage from the repair and it sounds better than I have heard it before. Hallelujah! Every time I drop my car off to Bob's I rest assured that Bob and his amazing staff will take care of my car and look out for my best interest. I didn't want to write this review since I think Bob is a nice guy. However, I won't be taking my cars to him any longer unless his customer service dramatically changes.  I've used Bob for all my service needs since I moved to SC over three years ago. He's performed good work and I trust his judgement.  However, I can not handle his poor customer service and severely incorrect completion time-frames.  I took my Acura for a routine oil change service this past Tuesday. After dropping it off at 8am on Tues morning, Bob said he'd call later that morning to tell me if any other service was needed. The following is a timeline... Tuesday: - No call by 3pm.  I called and an older lady said "he's not here but he'll probably call you when he has something to tell you". - I called again at 5pm but only got voicemail and no reply.  Never had an oil change take more than a day with no ETA or update.  Wednesday: - I called first thing in the morning. Bob said he was busy but the car would be done by early afternoon (after adding a timing belt service).  - Received a voicemail at 1pm saying it would now be finished early that evening. - I called at 4:30pm and Bob told me he had more customers come in (apparently I was less important). He apologized by explaining he has poor communication skills. He was just starting to look at my car (after 2 days!). I told him I couldn't get there that evening but he said he would finish it that night. Thursday: - I called twice in the morning with no reply to both voicemails.  - Reached him the third time but he STILL hadn't started on it. Frustrated, I told him I could only make it by noon that day (wife had to use our only other car). He said it would definitely be ready by then. - At noon, while I was on my way there, the older lady called to say that he would call me later when the car's ready. I told her I was already on my way. My wife dropped me off and I figured that waiting there would put pressure on him to finish. I figured wrong. I waited over 3 1/2 hours and then had my wife pick me up. Ridiculous. - Finally got a call that evening that the car was done. Such a disappointment. It's hard to find a trustworthy mechanic but my schedule doesn't allow for days of uncertainty with poor communication. read more
