Well Max has done it again! Today he has once again saved my aging 2012 BMWX5, keeping it on the road. Very grateful.

The owner ( Max ) is always happy to help with no string attach. Ive been going to him for the last 10 + years. If your looking for a professional, honest auto repair shop, Star Tech is the one to go too. read more

I have been taking my car to Star Tech and Max for years. He is so honest and does the best to help fix your car. I trust his repairs and suggestions. I would recommend them for any car repairs, and will continue to take mine to him in the future! read more

I own a 2012 E350. The car was damaged by a different garage - "Star AutoHaus" (in San Marcos, see review if you are curious) and could not pass smog. The repair required replacing the cam and valve lifters - a fairly technical repair. The car now runs like a clock, passed smog and we are thrilled to have found a capable, fair mechanic for my Mercedes. I have owned 10 different Mercedes over the years and do some of the less technical work myself. Very happy with the results. As a result, I also took my 2002 E55 (AMG) as well. I will post that review next. read more

This independent automotive group, led by Max, has been a blessing. He is an honest mechanic who diagnosed an issue with my X5 that turned out to be a very expensive repair. However, he discovered that the part was still covered under an extended part warranty, AKA Recall, even though the vehicle was out of warranty at BMW. Max could have easily kept this information from me and charged me thousands of dollars, but his honesty reflects his character. I deeply appreciate his honesty and consider him a good man. read more

Max and his team are excellent! Took care of my older Mercedes for a fair price and in a short period of time.

Honest. That sums up this business. Over the years Star Tech has successfully completed several repairs to my import vehicles. It has always been a fair exchange and the service is solid. I highly recommend. read more

Max and his team of technicians provide an honest evaluation and then complete the repairs quickly at an affordable price.

We've had several BMW vehicles and with that several BMW service/repair technicians. We are quite pleased with the service, professionalism, attention to detail and the cost that Star Tech Auto Repair provides. There's a reason why they've been in business for over 20 years. Pride in ownership and dependability is obviously job one. read more

How boring - All these Five Star reviews!! Here's one more......Our 2005 MB 350E is getting up in miles but still drives and looks beautiful. When the Service light came on, we dutifully took it in to MB for a diagnosis: $3600 or more to replace a major intake manifold. (Second opinion definitely in order....) Star Tech not only saved us over $1200, but lent us an ancient MB Tank to tool about in while waiting for the job to be finished - at no additional cost. What all the other reviewers have written..(?).....Ditto here!!! read more

My dad takes his old mercedes here and they are truly the best. He loves that old thing and refuses to buy a new one so they keep it in great condition for him. He says with these kinds of cars you can't just take it anywhere and Star Tech specializes in mercedes so it really makes a difference. Would recommend them to anyone especially if you have an older car. read more

Max and his team are efficient, honest, and reasonable. I have taken multiple cars to this shop over the years and have been extremely satisfied with the consistent level of service and attention received. No matter how large or small the issue, they thoroughly explain the problem and the solution- something much appreciated by someone like myself who is not car savvy. Highly recommend! read more

My Audi had a major issue that popped up out of nowhere. I was able to get an immediate appointment at Star-Tech. They diagnosed the issue, quoted me a fair price, did the work promptly, and came in at the quoted price. At pickup, Max explained what happened and why and even showed me the failed parts. Highly recommended! read more

These guys are the best of the best. I checked the other reviews and that is why I went to them to fix my BMW 335 drive 2011. It just wouldn't start. They took their time to figure out the problem and they did an amazing job. I was lucky that I had time, but then, I knew my problem was complex. Either way I knew that taking it to BMW would not be a smart choice. Max kept me updated the whole time. These guys did such hard work and they quoted me a price that I thought was a bargain. There are people in this world who genuinely take pride in their workmanship. You will find them here at Star Tech. You guys are the best! Thanks again Max and to the Team! I am so grateful! read more

Having a expert and honest mechanic is a game changer. I have been taking our cars to Star Tech in San Clemente for over 10 years now. Max and his team are very knowledgeable and professional. Their prices have always been fair and they seem to really take pride in their work. The mechanics always give me tips and tricks to get the most out of our vehicles. Our cars are getting kinda old but they run and feel like new. Highly recommended! read more

I am the original owner of a beautiful 1997 BMW Raodster Z3. 143k miles on it and I was driving over the toll road 73 heading south when i lost power to the motor. Pulled off the raod at PCH in San Clemente and called the Tow truck! Dropped it off at Star Tech. Blew a head! Damn... Motor rebuilt... Great Job! Great Work! Great Price! Thanks Guys! read more

The garage that tested my 2004 BMW reported it failed, miserably according to all the "codes" and estimated repairs costs w/b around $600. Wanting a second opinion, I took it to Star Tech. First, I was impressed with how clean their garage is and appreciated that Marty took the time to thoroughly explain their process and philosophy; fix the smaller/cheaper items first, then test again to ensure the Co2 sensors were legitimately failing, which they were, so I left it for the $$$ repair. Within minutes, Max called to report they determined my car has a special extended factory warranty for the emission system covering 15 yrs. or 150,000 miles; meaning the costly Co2 repairs would be FREE at an authorized BMW dealership. I was BLOWN AWAY... I had no idea my car had super extended warranty. Heck, even the smog mechanic admitted he'd never heard of such a thing when I took it back for the cert. Star Tech has earned my undying loyalty for the level of integrity they demonstrated by, A) making the effort to look up the VIN #, and; B) telling me to get it fixed FREE, elsewhere. This is what I call OUTSTANDING Customer Service! Were it possible, I'd give them 10 Stars! read more

Ok who likes taking their car in to the shop, raise your hand....nobody? I took my '99 Mercedes in at the recommendation of a friend. I was hesitant, she's old and costly these days. I'm over the dealership, it's not even an option unless you like spending 3X as much as you need to. I don't remember exactly what was wrong with my car (it was 9 years ago) but Max explained everything to me in a manner that I could understand. He is patient and kindhearted. He took the time to explain each item, what was wrong, how it related to the car itself and the options to fix it. I'm sorry, what?! What mechanic does that? None I have ever encountered. I felt empowered because what I chose to fix was my decision, not his. Ultimately I felt like he was honest and I knew he would be my mechanic forevermore. I always joke and say if he is somehow cheating me he's really nice about it:) read more

Dependable mechanics can be hard to come by, if you're reading this review you've found one!! Marty is an honest man and one of a kind. I have been taking multiple cars here on and off for 10 years. I appreciate this place so much... thank you guys for your work and sincerity!!! read more

Wow! What a find here in San Clemente. After a very disappointing episode with the dealership, who has serviced our Mercedes SL550 for the 6+ years we have owned it, we got on Yelp to see if there was anyone local that we could use and trust. We found the prior reviews here on Yelp to be completely accurate. Max diagnosed the problem, found a couple of other problems that the dealership had missed, ordered the parts and had the car back to us in 48 hours at a fair price. And talk about convenient - a 5 minute drive from our house. Thank goodness we never have to go back to the dealership again. Thank you Max and prior Yelp reviewers for the good advice. read more

Good outfit very honest. I went to them after the Laguna Niguel Mercedes dealership couldn't diagnose what's wrong with my car after three visits. Star Tech figured it out in 15 minutes. I will go to them for all my work. read more

Just tried these guys out for the first time. I was a bit hesitant as I've been having my other cars serviced at another well known place in South San Clemente. So I drove by to check things out... I am so happy that I did. Met with Max and set an appointment to have my brakes done. He even followed up with a phone call to confirm my model and order the parts before I came back in. Very Professional!!! Overall the service was fast, fairly priced, and they even checked on a few other items to make sure the overall status on the car was good. No up selling or pressure to "do more." There will be no reason for me to leave San Clemente as I will be taking my MB GLK 350 back there again when I need service. So happy to find a local business!!! read more

You're in good hands with Marty and Max. Quoting is honest and fair, and the workmanship is top quality, but more than anything else, Max will figure out what's wrong with your vehicle, whether it is a BMW, Mercedes, or in our case an older Range Rover. No vague guessing or maybe this or that's... He has a knack to hone in quickly on even the hardest to diagnose problems. He knows these vehicles inside out, any model, any year, really impressive. read more

Ended up just getting an oil change here. I have an older MBZ S Class that has over 100K miles. It has a few problems, but with aging MBZ's sometimes it is like a car getting Alzheimer's and the computers just need to reset themselves. Anyway what I did not like was being told the car was not well maintained - it has been maintained through the dealership and just needed to be washed. read more

Star Tech has been excellent. First used this company about 1 year ago when our BMW X5 alerted us to a problem. Marty promptly ran diagnostics and informed us -- although the X5 was beyond the standard warranty -- the problem was still covered as it related to emissions -- fixed free of charge by the dealer. This most honest and expert of level of service has been continued by Star Tech on both of our vehicles. read more

After repeated nightmare service's from MV Audi, I found Star Tech and how happy I have been since. The gentlemen at Star Tech Auto have done superb work on my Audi A8. They are knowledgeable, and courteous, and always fair. They have looked out for me, when told by other mechanics that certain work needed to be performed, they double checked and in most cases, found that the work I was quoted elsewhere was not needed or over priced. I have had nothing but great experiences with Star Tech and would recommend them to anyone with a Merceds, Audi or BMW! read more

So the mechanic is kinda like the dentist....Is there ever any fun in going? Having said that, these guys know their stuff and are diligent in getting your car back to running smoothly.
