Came in for a new transmission, broken AC and a leaking tire. Was told it would be a week, which sounds good as that was every time line we were told from other places we called. A week goes by and the parts still weren't in, again I mean that's just shipping and it happens, can't really blame the shop. After a week and a half they install the new transmission, but said there was something wrong so they kept working on it. Another week goes by and they say they need to order ANOTHER trans. At this point we are very frustrated as we needed this vehicle back 3 weeks ago. But I mean who knows what is really going on so we just hang tight. Finally, a MONTH later, we get a text that the trans was replaced and good to go but they didn't have time to fully fix the ac. Didn't have time? You had it for a month and decided until the last day to look at the AC. They replaced the blower motor but said they would have to take the whole thing out and didn't have time for it, so it was ultimately a temporary fix for a full charge. After asking for a price break down he gave us $150 off. Woopie after a $7,500 ordeal that didn't feel sufficient. They then charged our card for the second half of our bill after we explicitly said "we do not authorize this charge" and we also don't remember saying they could save the card on file..... if that wasn't all enough to make us never come back we then find out the tire was never fixed after it went flat on the road a few days later. To which the guy says "looks like I forgot" !!! Now the AC stopped working because again it was never actually fixed in the first place. Truly unacceptable from start to finish. They clearly do not care about doing a good job and just want your money. He asked us multiple times to pay the remaining balance before we even picked up the vehicle or had any work done. Avoid at all costs.

They recommended the best and most cost effective way of fixing a minor issue my car has been having, even though that meant sending me to another shop. I am extremly pleased with Rene at Hillside Imports! I had some issues with my VW Golf. I took it…read morein for a diagnosis at an eastside repair shop. They said I needed a new clutch and flywheel, and quoted $3,600, and wanted me to purchase the parts before schudling the service. Luckily I spent time asking other shops around town for quotes on this type of repair. Rene came back with the lowest quote by far. When I scheduled the repair, he did not ever request for me to prepurchase anything. I braced myself when Rene called me on the day of the repair. But to my surpise he said "we don't see anything wrong with this clutch". He test drove it, had another team member test drive it, and determined that any repair was unnecessary. I offered to pay him for the time and effort, but he would not charge me! In summary, Rene has earned my trust and will get all of my future repair business.

When the shop was owned by Mel, I could rely on the diagnostics and work. In November, Had an O2…read moresensor that needed to be replaced (to get tags renewed) and caused my check engine light to stay on. Replace the O2 sensor, light stayed on, diagnosed the intake manifold (much more $$), no change to engine light. Replaced another sensor and everything they could think of, $2000 later on my used car. Engine light stayed on. Decided to run it to DEQ FOR ME (and charged me for the time) so ensure I could get new tags, engine light is still on. In March, car was overheating and leaking coolant, and remnants of a broken zip tie was found in the engine. Took it back in, they assured me that it was the thermostat housing and not having to do with previous work, replaced the Thermostat housing (including the thermostat, all in one), car continued to overheat. Brought it back 3 separate times, for a couple days each time. Discharged stating it was fixed for sure (with paperwork stating same) charged $800. Drove for 5mins, car was overheating again. Mgr said that it's OK for temp to fluctuate as long as no RED. Also to continue to drive it, and send them videos of what is happening because they could not replicate. I know from having the car almost overheat before, that ALMOST overheating and OVERHEATING happens very quickly.continue to drive the car, sent several videos of the car getting 75% of the way up on the gauge, several times. Sent messages. Left voicemails. No resolution. Car has never been the same. Engine light still on. $2800 down on the car without any issues actually fixed. One thing to note: diagnostic fee is NOT worked into the labor and is $200 each time you take it in. Non negotiable.
