After doing some research and shopping around, I met David, Fadi, and the family team at Homsy. They took the time to listen, invite us into their store to learn about the diamond and ring-buying process, and never batted an eye at any question we had - no matter how simple. There was never any pressure, and we got the feeling that they had our best interest in mind at all times, and wanted us to be happy with any purchase. Translation: they treat you like you are part of their family. The prices were reasonable, work was done well and in a timely fashion. They were even able to take a ring design we were interested in replicating and making a custom setting with their CAD design tools. What impressed me most about Homsy was what great communicators they were. I knew that when I called, they'd immediately answer and know what was happening. Or that when I emailed, I'd get a response right away. You don't get this type of communication at most places - including similar competitors in the city - and this is what really impressed me the most. Homsy Jewelers now has 2 more lifetime customers. I had asked when I was considering buying it, whether I could wear it every day and sleep in it. I was given a confident 'yes'. But then when the bracelet broke and I brought it in to be fixed, suddenly it was 'not an every day bracelet'. The only reason this isn't a 1-star review is the earrings and the fact that they (tried to, as it broke multiple more times) fixed my bracelet free of charge. I will not be purchasing any other jewelry here, and I am not selling my bracelet back to Homsy. I will be taking my business elsewhere.

Miss the hand-crafty cool stuff you used to find at Selletto? You'll love Luna Boutique. Our little town of Winthrop (by the sea...so we're reminded to say...more like "by the airport", but I digress) is cheering over this fun, fabulous shop in the town center. Great jewelry by local artists, ceramics from Italy, candles from France and a lovely selection of baby gifts for folks like me that don't want the baby, but love to shop for the ones we know. Next time you drop someone off at Logan, or just have an itching for something different, drive 5 minutes beyond the airport and check this shop out. It's sandwiched between the local pizza joint and a nail salon, but it wouldn't be Winthrop if it wasn't.

I much prefer the service at Geoclassics across Fanueil Hall, but Local Charm I think has more interesting pieces, especially if you are shopping for a gift. Also, ask them to show you pieces that are not displayed. They generally have a bunch, which is especially helpful if you are shopping for a particular stone, say, garnet or druzy, but don't like what you see displayed. The store is tiny and can get quite cramped when there are a lot of people shopping, so you either have to be patient in order to see everything or have a basic idea of what you'd like going in. The prices are reasonable - I personally have never spent over $100 on a single item here, and I like that you can pull the cases out and try on the pieces without having to find a salesperson each time you want to see something. If they don't have your ring size in the case, they do have other options you can pick from - some are exactly the same piece in multiple sizes, and others use the same stones but in different designs. The salespeople do have their "spiel" that they do each time you come into the store, which is a bit annoying if you're a repeat customer, but otherwise this is a great place to shop and they seem to know their gemstones well. When you make a purchase, they wrap it up prettily, and I love knowing that the store sells local items. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in Boston, to add to my jewelry collection!

I brought it here to get resized and an updated appraisal. Once there, Ali talked me through ways to improve how the center diamond was set in the ring. We worked together and came up with a personalized frame and chose to add some side baguette diamonds to make the appearance of the center stone look bigger than it is. After a lot of back and forth, we came up with the perfect vision for the ring. Ali, Hagop and their whole team worked so hard in bringing my vision to life. I wanted to keep the integrity of my grandmother's ring while enhancing it slightly. I can't say enough good things about all of them. Trust them with your family heirlooms. They will exceed your expectations, as they did for me! I could not be happier!
