My wife and I had our wedding invitations done here and she was absolutely one of our most memorable and favorite vendors we worked with during our wedding planning. It was low stress and she was really able to understand our tastes and requirements. We found her to be patient, easy to work with, and she gave us multiple drafts timely and professionally and had no problem incorporating our ideas into her final concepts. The designs she came up with ended up setting the tone for our entire wedding. Ultimately, when the invitations went out, we had so much feedback about how excited people were about our wedding just based on the impact the invitations made we hoped it would live up to the hype! A little more detail specifically about the service she provided us; We wanted an invitation that respected traditional Chinese style, had elegance and a semi-traditional format, but also had a sleek bit of our own personality to it. It need to be bilingual and incorporate inserts for instructions, maps, return RSVP cards, etc, and of course fall within our tight budget. Virge seems to have tons of experience phrasing sentences elegantly and giving direction. The church where the ceremony occurred had complicated parking instructions, and we also needed to include maps to the banquet hall which was far away. Virge was able to fit everything in a simple, easy to understand format that was great for out of town guests and understandable even to both Chinese and English speaking, all while looking great. Her work ethic and attention to quality and detail truly stand out. Ultimately her invitations turned out impeccable, like beautiful works of art. We were impressed enough and since experience working with Virge was so smooth, we ended up using her for our wedding programs as well to keep the feel consistent. My wife and I have been married three and a half years now and when ever we look back at our invitations we always smile and know we made the right decision with Designs by Yu.

It was the most informative email regarding the T-shirt process making for what I needed done in a VERY SHORT turn around. What I was asking for was next to impossible for everyone else. And because Kevin said he COULD do it, I was VERY skeptical about it. Once I decided Kevin with Kinky Kontrol was my guy I came armed with all of my previous projects to show him what I did not want. Silk Screen, Press on, patch on, iron on...I don't know all the technical terms but I do know I had one previous QUALITY print and some that were super crappy and I wanted to avoid super crappy. I asked him his hours and he told me for THE DAY I was speaking to him. I decided to show up during these said hours the next day and upon arrival I get there and he was not open. My fault his hours vary as he is a small business and works hours days and nights to get the job done and 99 percent of his orders are completed online and people only come for an arranged pickup time or have a delivery. I read the bad reviews first when I am trying to find a place to do business with and there was one for Kinky Kontrol. I will agree, finding the place is a little difficult and it may seem a little apprehensive going into this unmarked door which you then realize is a HUGE warehouse with multiple factory type businesses sharing the building and that is why there is no large signage outside. We all know small businesses in the later 2000's era all use cell phones and even will use text messaging as an option. Get a voicemail? I did...I left a message and received a prompt call back. Once I found out the shop is not manned daily due to delivery and supply pick up etc, I KNEW for the future I would simply reach out to find out about business hours. For what he does, it doesn't necessarily make sense to have regulated walk in business hours. No matter what the hours say Kevin is available to speak to you at any time. Upon my arrival to the work space you can tell...printing is EXACTLY what they do. It looks like the typical t-shirt print shop in creative disarray. All I can say is the truth...Anyone who's been around for a few years in business remembers the…read morelate 80's and early 90's when every fly by night boiler room was telemarketing Toner to unsuspecting secretaries and office managers using tricks like, "Buy now and I'll send you this Months Promotional Incentive!", and the person in charge of office supplies would be promised a raft or some other crazy piece of trickery to help swindle. The Toner would be so bad that often times a copier or printer would be lucky to have half its normal life. Well, John has been SO busy taking care of his slowly growing customer base that he didn't have time to "out promote" his competition who's main focus has been growing revenue and not getting a good honest product to their customer. So Johns' Customers have had to call John if they want attention. He has never been one who harrasses and/or harangues his customers for a buck so often times his customers have changed Office Managers enough over the years that the new Managers didn't know about John. I found John a little over a month ago and still havn't done business with him because I thought him too good to be true. He's just recently survived a fight with the big c. (I won't use upper case...I won't give it that much significance.) His wife is an incredible woman...and you know what they say, "Behind every successful woman is a man who has been selling Toner with integrity." Seriously though think about it...When you have a man who has been ethical when no one is looking...CONSISTENTLY FOR 30 YEARS...in a business where bait and switch is the norm and not the exception...Even now the biggest player in Toner WAS BlueDog until they got hit with patent infringement and every one found out why their prices were so low. John hasn't changed...We have to take notice...and then when you understand it really is true you just have to yell it from the top of every mountain...Now I'm gonna give John a call. When I came in person, I was quoted $99-$120 for something that typically costs $30-$45 at other print shops, and was told they only handle bulk orders. It's completely fine if a business chooses to focus on large-volume work, but the communication around it was inconsistent and dismissive. If small businesses or individuals are not part of their service model, it would be helpful if that were clearly stated on their website and phone system to avoid wasted time.
