We recently stopped at Gung Ho. First timers. It's a Japanese eatery specializing in poke bowls,…read morebibimbap and ramen. You order at the counter and you either pick up your food or it will be delivered. The restaurant is very clean, has wooden booths and tables. They also have a cart with games and slso sketchbooks at each table. My husband and I started out sharing the takoyaki, which are octopus balls. My son introduced me to this dish and I am obsessed with it so I was happy to see it on the menu. They didn't disappoint. My husband had a Mongolian udon bowl and I had a poke bowl. Both of us customized our bowls and chose what we wanted in them. I like that we are able to do that. I also had a taro milk tea with tapioca pearls made with almond milk. Everything was delicious and fresh. We'll definitely be going back here again.

Over the years, we've only had carryout/delivery so I can't comment on the dine-in experience....though I have seen a shelf with various card games on it I'd love to take advantage of. Staff are friendly and orders have always been ready on time. My wife usually gets the Shoyu ramen ($15 w/sliced seaweed, garlic oil, spinach) and I always get the miso ramen ($15), a traditional broth with choice of protein, soft boiled egg, green onion, corn, and bamboo shoots. I devoured everything except the bamboo, 'cause I'm not a panda. The pork chashu (braised pork belly) is some of the BEST I've ever had, marvelously fatty with a melt-in-your-mouth tenderness. If you're feeling extra hungry (or are really into anime), you can order the Goku ramen bowl ($22) which includes chashu, shrimp, grilled chicken and fried chicken. Maybe eating it makes you go Super Saiyan?? Their ramen has 4 options for spiciness: a 'little' spice, spicy, spicy ++, or a 'spice bomb' on the side. I've ordered normal spicy and it's been perfect every time; I'm worried anything hotter would work against the delicious flavor profile of the broth, which I do not want to mess with. Gyoza (6 for $8) are tasty, especially when dipped in the garlic ginger-soy sauce. Crab Rangoon (6 for $7.50) come with a sweet peach sauce, another great choice for appetizer. If you're not feeling ramen, Gung Ho also has poke bowls ($13), Mongolian stir fry, and a teriyaki bento box ($14). My wife loves their coconut milk tea ($6), and she insists on getting one every visit. I've tried the banana milk tea and the Thai iced tea, both were tasty. You can add tapioca pearls, popping boba, or fruit jelly (lychee, mango, strawberry) at no extra charge. They also have an "avocado milk crush", whatever the heck that is. * TL;DR * Tanaka Ramen in eastern Bolingbrook was our go-to for several years, but I think Gung Ho edges them out in terms of quality. The miso ramen is an umami explosion and the milk teas are great. Prices are fair with an interior that encourages hanging out (sketch pads and board games provided). Gung Ho offers good vibes and some of the best ramen in the area, I highly recommend them!

They have three tables and six chairs if you want to dine in. One is towards the left side with two chairs. The other two tables are together in the middle, with chairs in case a group comes in. They have a nice seating area on the far right if you are waiting for your carry out. This is mostly a drive-thru and carry out. I would definitely come back to dine in, now that I know they have tables. Other reviews missed this vital part. To clarify on one of the recent reviews. The beef bulgogi bowl combo does not cost $32. It would cost $17.75 without tax. I ordered combo 1 (pork adobo and beef bulgogi onigiri, 4 lumpias, pineapple passion fruit drink, and cassava cake). I also ordered the pork adobo rice bowl, egg sandwich, and matcha white chocolate brownie. I have food for two meals. Overall, it's about a 3.5 - 4 for me. I'll lean in more towards a 4 because I'll come back and try more items. -pork adobo onigiri 2.5 - this one was just okay. It could use more meat and sauce. It was mostly bland. -beef bulgogi onigiri 4 - this was better than the pork adobo. It had more meat but it could use more sauce. -lumpias 5 - they were crispy and flavorful. -cassava cake 5 - it came cold. This is a traditional Filipino dessert. It was light, smooth, and custardy. I could eat two more of these. -pork adobo rice bowl 4.5 - the rice wasn't burnt. There is a generous amount of meat. There are about two meals worth in here. The pork slices were soft and tender. There were a couple pieces that could have been softer. -egg sandwich 5 - you get two sandwiches. The whole sandwich was pretty good. It had a savory taste to it. I would order this again. -matcha white chocolate brownie 5 - it came warm. It was rich, not too sweet, and slightly crumbly. I tasted both the matcha and the white chocolate.
