Boba Time in San Pedro is a fantastic place for a sweet treat and a delicious drink. They have a…read moreton of different options with something for everyone from Iced Tea to smoothies to coffee to Boba. You name it, they have it! Everything is customizable so you get exactly what you want out of your drink. The store front and inside is always clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. You can order at the counter or use the kiosks located to the right side of the store as you enter. On this trip I got the galaxy iced tea and it was absolutely delicious. The Galaxy Iced Tea is made with organic Butterfly Pea Tea, strawberry lemonade, and star shaped mango jelly. It's a good refreshing pick me up. If you are health and calorie conscious, they also started including the calories on their menu and kiosks. I appreciate that a lot as someone who wants to be conscious and also still have a sweet treat here and there. I definitely recommend this location, and parking is easy as it is located in a large shopping center with Ralphs and In n Out.

However, I should have just stayed with something safe like a milk tea boba. We both needed a midday pick-me-up and I thought about this place. I thought I had ordered a matcha here before but I had not. I was clearly thinking about a different place. My friend ordered the Boba Coffee and honestly, it looked really good. Perhaps next time I will try that. This was a DoorDash order and it was seamless.

We came here after the Chargers game for a drink for the road home. It is a super cute little spot…read moreand there's plenty of parking. I did like that besides drinks they have a good menu for food. It was honestly kind of hard to decide what to get. Originally, I had ordered the barbecue chicken bowl, but my man asked me to change it to the Poké bowl because my son loves poke. I did change that and the presentation on that was super cute. I opened it up just to take a picture. I didn't realize there was no rice on here, but that's because it's a poke salad not bowl so that was my mistake. I definitely feel like I needed rice with this which you can order on the side. The poke was pretty good. But I feel like it was kind of expensive for what it is. Maybe if it was $15 versus 17. I could definitely get a Poké bowl with way more toppings for about $17. But the poking itself was tasty. If you're looking for a healthier alternative, this is good. Since it is an actual poke salad I'll still rated a 4.5 out of five. It also came with a scoop of Mac salad, which was a little bit on the sweeter side. We got three drinks. My son got the strawberries smoothie which he didn't even get to drink until we got home since he fell asleep. My man got a shake of some sort which he said was really good. I got the Biscoff shake. But I did add Boba to it. We left on the road and I drink that, but it was missing my Boba which the sticker also showed that it had. I think most people wouldn't add Boba to a shake so they forgot. We were already on the freeway so I had called to ask for a refund for that. They were very helpful and able to refund me that in a little bit more. I appreciate that since we came from out of town and we were exhausted and already stuck in traffic. The Biscoff shake itself was actually really delicious, but yes, I was just missing that Boba. The service was great, and the fact that they did still help me out after we left, I appreciate that very much so this is a spot I would return to you in the future when I'm up in the area.

Ehhh, very overrated boba shop, imo. Picked up on this place due to some social media posts I got…read moreshown by friends, but the jelly they show on top of the drinks is actually just a topping that ends up in the drink. It's...ok? I've tried a few of their drinks, but I don't find the tea tasting special at all. The jelly are fine, but also nothing particularly stand out. My first visit I waited like 20mins near closing, which is waaaay better than the hour it was beforehand. And on a recent visit there was essentially no wait. I'm not sure I'd come back as I have other boba shops I much prefer nearby me.

Hechalou ceased to exist at this location. I suspect that owners broke away from the franchise and…read morestarted their own boba business at the same location. They changed the name subtle enough to avoid a lawsuit, but the changes in the menu and the quality of the drinks are far more drastic, and it's not for the better. Gone are the traditional teas and sesame jelly that made Hechalou so famous. These options are replaced by cheap imitations of Starbucks' frothy drinks that sound good on paper but taste like iced piss with sugar. The drinks are excessively sweet, a mortal sin by Asian standard, and they have a generic taste that might as well have one item on the entire menu. Alas, to get a sip of the old favorites, now I have to drive across town instead of stop by after work. I am glad that I got my many trips here before the old guards died, and it's probably better for my hemoglobin A1c in the long run.
